Twenty 🐚

"Ty, shouldn't we be meeting your friends?" Josh barely managed to keep up with Tyler as he dragged Josh further and further into the fair, bringing the man far away from Brendon.

They had tried all kinds of games but didn't win anything. Mostly because they were rigged so no one could win anything. It was a pointless waste of money. Tyler knew that but still was desperate to win Josh something.

"No, love." Tyler stopped and turned around "They can wait."

"L-love?" Josh blushed, even in the colourful light dancing on his face Tyler could see Josh blushing

The boy got on his tiptoes to kiss Josh's forehead. The man was a little bit taller than him. Josh blushed even more and lowered his head. He plucked a piece of cotton candy and put it in his mouth nervously.

"Love..." Tyler whispered leaning in to touch Josh's lips with his own lips "Sweetheart..."

Josh closed his eyes before even Tyler's lips connected with his and melted as soon as they touched. Josh let Tyler lead the kiss by completely melting in the boy's embrace. Tyler slowly moved his lips away allowing the sweetness of Josh linger on his lips for a little bit longer. His lips tasted like cotton candy. Tyler gripped Josh's chin with his thumb and index finger and tilted his head up so he could see his eyes. Josh looked away, still embarrassed and incredibly flustered.

"Don't you ever look down." Tyler whispered as he stared into Josh's mismatched eyes "Look up so even the stars would envy the glitter of your eyes."

Josh let out a soft quiet chuckle and bit his sugary lip nervously. Tyler grabbed the back of Josh's had and pressed his lips againsts the man's more aggressively now. Josh hummed against Tyler's lips and let Tyler completely dominate over him. Tyler gripped the undersides of Josh's thighs and lifted him up. The man giggled and wrapped his arms around Tyler's neck and almost dropped his cotton candy.

"Don't drop me!" Josh squealed making people stare at them but they couldn't care less. It was their night.

"I won't, fishy, I won't." Tyler giggled as well as he spun around with Josh in his arms

Tyler let Josh down slowly, the man was still giggling, Tyler tried to get his breath back. He kissed Josh once more because he couldn't get enough of it. He knew that he'll hardly get used to it, it was like a drug. One taste left Tyler wanting more. The boy didn't know if it was because Josh was a magical creature or just because he was so madly in love with him that he didn't want to waste a second without him by his side.

"Ty, what is that?" Josh asked pointing at a dunk tank

A girl with a mermaid's costume was sitting on a little platform waving at people who were desperately trying to get the target that would make the girl fall into the water. The girl playfully twirled her multicoloured hair on her finger and swayed her purple glistening tail back and forth

"Oh, it's just a game."

"But why are they throwing things at her." Josh pouted "Sh-she's trapped, can't you see it?"

"Joshie, it's just a game." Tyler chuckled "She's not a real mermaid."

"She has a tail." Josh tugged at Tyler's sleeve "We have to save her and help her get back into the water. "

Tyler chuckled and tried to hold onto Josh who was struggling to step forward.

"Ty, her crystal is missing." Josh whimpered

"Josh, it's just a costume." Tyler didn't know if he should cry or laugh

Josh squirmed for a few times and finally got out of Tyler's grasp. Tyler tried to hold onto him but staggered forward and tripped over his own feet. Tyler fell onto the soft grass. He tilted up his head and saw Josh running up to the dunk tank and pushing the red button in the middle of the painted target. The girl let out a scream before she fell into the water.

"What the hell, dude?" She gasped for air

Tyler rolled in the grass choking on air out of laughter. Josh was very confused about why the mermaid was angry at him. He tried to reason with her but she started to climb out of the water looking extremely angry. Tyler decided that it's time for them to go since two dudes who looked like they own the dunk tank approached Josh. Their clothes were mermaid themed. Tyler quickly got up and ran up to the man.

"Come on, we gotta go!" Tyler dragged Josh behind him "Josh hurry up!"

"I am not fast." Josh murmured as he tried to keep up with Tyler

"Hey!" the dudes with mermen costumes picked up their pace "Hey! get back here!"

Tyler slipped past one of them and manoeuvred through the big crowd of people. Josh tried as best as he could to keep up with Tyler. Josh still wasn't used t his legs and made Tyler trip a few times because of his own clumsiness. Tyler ran till he couldn't see or hear the two dudes running after them, they gave up and decided that it's not worth it to chase after them for two dollars.

Tyler turned into a small alley between the arcade booths. He placed his hands against the wooden wall with his head down. Tyler took deep breaths, the boy was pretty athletic but it was hard dragging someone with you, especially if that someone was clumsy and weighted almost twice as him.

Tyler took the last deep breath and straightened his posture. He looked over to Josh who was staring the other direction. Tyler looked up at the Ferris wheel that was flashing with colourful lights.

"Do you want to go on the Ferris wheel?" Tyler hugged Josh from behind and rested his forehead against the man's back

"Is that what's it called?" Josh whispered, fascinated by the playful blinking of the colourful lights

"Yeah." Tyler sighed, his breathing had finally regulated

"I want to go." Josh said "I have seen many of these but I could only watch as I hid in the waves."

"Then let's go." Tyler grabbed Josh's hand.

Josh linked his arms with Tyler's while they walked towards the line for the Ferris wheel. As they were walking, Josh noticed a booth selling all sorts of souvenirs. Since Tyler didn't win anything Josh really wanted something to remember their date.

"Tyler?" Josh asked shyly

"Yes?"

"C-can you buy me that?" Josh said pointing at a shelf that had various rings on it

"Do you want a ring?" Tyler chuckled

Josh nodded. Tyler walked out of the queue. Josh tried to contain his smile but he was just so excited. He had seen lovers in a boat exchange rings and then kiss. Josh always wanted to do that with someone. He didn't know why they exchanged rings but Josh really wanted to do that since he first saw it.

"Which one do you want?" Tyler asked

Josh pointed at a silver imitation ring with three green crystals on it. It was the most expensive of them all but Tyler couldn't say no to Josh. He placed the money on the counter and handed Josh the ring.

"Y-you need a ring too." Josh murmured

Tyler smiled and bought a very cheap black simple ring. He was about o put it on his finger when Josh stopped him.

"C-can I put it on?"

"Sure." a smile curved the corner of Tyler's lips

Josh slowly slid the ring on Tyler's ring finger, his hands were shaking a little bit. Tyler took the silver ring from Josh and took his hand into his.

"Josh, promise me that you'll always be mine." Tyler lifted his head up

"I promise." Josh nodded, a wide smile spread across his lips as he watched Tyler put the ring on his finger

"And I promise to always be yours." Tyler whispered before kissing the corner of Josh's mouth

Josh blushed deeply and returned the kiss. Tyler never thought that he would ever fall so hard in love but Life was full of surprises.

They finally got onto the Ferris wheel and Josh's excitement evaporated. He clutched Tyler's shirt as they were lifted high into the air.

"Silly, don't be afraid, I got you." Tyler whispered soothingly and Josh opened his eyes

"It's so pretty." Josh awed at the view that opened in front of him "Ty, I can see so far! It's so beautiful."

"It is." Tyler smiled as he stared at Josh "It's really pretty."

"The ocean is so sparkly..." Josh chirped and at that second his smile dropped "Tyler, I want to go home."

"Okay-"

"Home." Josh cut Tyler off "My home."

Tyler let out a heavy sigh. He knew exactly what Josh meant by "home". The ocean was Josh's real home and Tyler hated that Josh missed it. He hated the fact that soon Josh will return to the ocean and then he'll be left on the shore. He'll have to wait for Josh with a heartache because Tyler didn't want Josh to leave ever again. They promised to be together and Tyler was going to do anything for it to be that way.

"Josh." Tyler leaned in "Stay with me?"

"But..." Josh glanced at the ocean

"Please?" Tyler whispered "Please stay with me."

"I-"

Josh was cut off by a loud roar. They both looked the direction of the noise. Josh covered his eyes as a bright spark lit up the sky. It was followed by another one and another one. Josh lowered his hands and stared at the colourful fireworks that had lit up the sky making it look like it was daytime.

Tyler could've looked at the fireworks but he had something far more beautiful in his embrace.
