My wolf pulled away with a sigh of relief and let me take control while my mate finished checking me over to make sure that I hadn't hurt myself.

I whined and turned to look at her, nuzzling her shoulder, and my mate paused and turned to look at me with narrowed eyes. I laid my ears flat against my head while I looked at her, feeling nervous and worried about me.

"Daniel?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper before she cocked her head to the side while she studied me. "Is that you, or is your wolf still in control?"

I shook my head before I nuzzled my mate's face, earning a small chuckle from my mate, and I closed my eyes while she placed her hand on my cheek.

"I take it that it is you, huh?" she asked and rubbed her thumb across my cheek. She opened her eyes before she looked at me, biting back a small frown while she studied me, and a look of worry appeared on her face. "Are you ok? What happened?"

I didn't say a word that she could hear, and I shrugged while I flicked my tail, pressing my ears closer to the back of my head.

My mate slowly nodded and pressed her lips into a thin line. "Do you need to take any anger out on some trees, too, or do you think you are able to shift so that we can talk?" she asked and raised an eyebrow while she studied me. She rubbed her hand across my face, and I bit back a small grunt while I flicked my tail and closed my eyes just a tad.

I hesitated before I pulled away from her and opened my eyes, and my mate let her hand fall to her side while she raised an eyebrow higher in question. I stood and looked toward another cluster of trees before I looked at her.

My mate looked the way that I looked at her before she looked at me, biting back a small frown, and she cocked her head and studied me. "Do you have clothes over there?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

Oh thank Goddess, she understood me...

I nodded in confirmation, biting back a small sigh of relief when she asked me if I had clothes over there.

Katie slowly nodded and pressed her lips into a thin line while she studied me. "Do you want me to follow you?" she asked, and I nodded in confirmation.

Please... I thought before I started to walk that way, and my mate bit back a small laugh and nodded before she started to walk that way with me, but she was behind me and not by my side. I want to make sure that you stay safe.

"If you want to make sure that I stay safe, then shouldn't I be in front of you?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question. There was a teasing tone in her voice, and I could tell that she had a small smile on her face. "I think that is why you want me to follow you to the cluster of trees."

I growled playfully, and my mate laughed and nodded. I flicked my tail and paused so that she would be able to catch up to my shoulder. That way I would be able to make sure that she stayed safe.

My mate bit back another laugh and nodded. She moved a hand across my shoulder before she made it to my neck close to my face. "Ok, now let's go, Alpha," she said with a small laugh in her voice, and I rolled my eyes and nuzzled her side.

I walked the rest of the way to the cluster of trees before I turned to look at her. I slowly blinked and flicked my tail, silently praying that she would understand that I wanted her to stay right there while I shifted into my human form and get changed into some clothes so that we could talk.

Katie cocked her head while she studied me, and another smile appeared on her face. "Do you want me to stay here while you shift into your human form and change your clothes?" she asked and cocked her head further to the side.

I nodded in confirmation, and I couldn't help but feel grateful that I had such a smart and beautiful mate like her.

Katie laughed and nodded in confirmation. "Then I will stay put," she said and placed her arms behind her back and clasped her hands together. "Go ahead and get it done so that we can talk about everything that has happened to you. Ok?" She cocked her head to the side and furrowed her brows, biting back a small frown. "I am worried about you."

I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded. I walked over to the other side of the trees and found my bag that had clothes in it for me. I didn't say a word and shifted into my human form, biting back another tired sigh.

Oh, Goddess have mercy on me...

"Katie?" I asked and opened my bag before I grabbed my pants that were in it, silently praying that she was still there and was alive. "Are you ok?"

"I am ok," she said and bit back a small laugh. "Why?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she folded her arms across her chest. "Is something wrong?"

I breathed a small sigh of relief before I moved a hand through my hair and across my face. "Not right now," I said and shook my head before I zipped and buttoned my pants. "But danger is coming."

My mate hummed and slowly nodded, pressing her lips into a thin line. "Are you decent?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can I come over to you?"

"No," I said and shook my head before I started to make my way to her. "Because I am coming over to you, so you don't have to move an inch."

My mate rolled her eyes and bit back a small smile, but she didn't do what I told her to do and started to walk over to me, closing the distance between us faster than normal. "Very funny, Daniel," she said. "I-"

I moved closer to her and clasped her face in my hands before I started to kiss her on the lips, silencing her with a kiss.

My mate bit back a small laugh and kissed me with the same passion as I kissed her. She wrapped her arms around my waist, and I wrapped my arms around her neck, clasping my hands together.

I pulled away from her, biting back a small smile. "I love you," I said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I love you so much, Katie."

My mate laughed and nodded. "I love you, too," she said and kissed my lips. "I love you, too."
