I flinched when I heard a loud bang while someone slammed the door shut and then an angry howl sounded throughout the house, and my mate's cousin gasped out loud while she stared in that direction with her face growing pale.

"What was that?" JJ asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She moved closer to me, and her eyes grew wide while she stared at Jesse as if he knew the answer and didn't even ask me. "Why did someone howl?"

Jesse cocked his head to the side, and his eyes became glazed over while he linked someone from his group. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet while he blinked back the glaze look in his eyes while he tucked his head closer to his chest, biting back a small frown. "That is the Alpha," he said. "He heard something that he didn't like, and he became very angry. That howl is letting people know that he doesn't want anyone to bother him while he runs and tears things into shreds."

"Like what?" JJ asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied him. There was a small frown on her face, and she didn't look too happy that my mate was angry. "What is he going to tear up into shreds?"

He shrugged and grimaced, pressing his lips into a thin line. "I don't know," he said before he cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "I think he is going to be attacking some trees and whatnot, but I do not know what he is actually going to do. It's been a while since he has been this angry."

I hesitated, and my heart became filled with worry and fear. 'Can I go see him?' I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied him. 'Or should I stay away from him?'

Jesse hesitated before he shrugged and grimaced while he pressed his lips into a thin line. "I don't know," he said and shook his head. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "I do not know if you should do it or not."

I looked toward the front door before I looked at Jesse, biting back a small frown. 'But I don't want him to get hurt.' I cleared my throat while I shifted in my seat and pressed my lips into a thin line. 'I want to help him.'

"That is up to you, Luna," Jesse said and shrugged while he turned his attention back to the food that was in front of him. "I am almost done with breakfast, though. Would you like to go check on him, or do you want to eat first? It'll take him a while to feel better, so I do suggest that you eat first and then go after him."

JJ frowned and furrowed her brows while she looked between the two of us. "But what about me?" she asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied us. "What is going to happen to me when she goes after him?"

"You will stay with me, Kiddo," Jesse said and shrugged with a small grimace on his face. "I will protect you, so you don't have to worry about a damn thing."

'Jesse,' I softly scolded, and he looked at me and smiled, biting back a small chuckle. 'Don't do that. She is a child.'

JJ shrugged while she wrinkled and pursed her lips in annoyance. "Eh, I have heard worse," she said before she bit back a small yawn. She rubbed her eyes and shook her head, pouting. "Can I take a nap after eating some food, though, please? I did not sleep well last night, and I want to see if I can fall asleep."

Jesse and I looked at each other and frowned before we looked at JJ, and a look of concern and worry flashed through our eyes. "Sure," he said and nodded in confirmation. "I can take you back to your room." His cheeks turned red, and he rubbed the back of his neck. "Do you know where your room is?" he asked and cocked his head to the side.

"Yes," she said and nodded with a small giggle in her voice. "I remember where I had been placed that way Katie can help my cousin control his anger." She cocked her head to the side while she studied me, biting back a small smile. "Does that make you my cousin, too, Katie?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me.

I bit back a small smile and nodded, and my heart grew warm, happy that she considered me her cousin. 'Yes,' I said. 'That means I am your cousin, too.'

JJ nodded in confirmation. She rubbed her hands together before she looked at Jesse. "What food did you make besides pancakes?" she asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied him. "I can't see."

"Pancakes, fruit, french toast, bacon, and other stuff. I can make a plate for you if you would like," Jesse said. He looked at me and tucked his head closer to his chest. "I can also make you a plate, too, Luna." He bowed his head, and I bit back a small smile.

I hesitated before I shook my head while I stood, and they both looked at me, with Jesse pausing in making JJ a plate of food. 'I think I am going to go ahead and check on my mate. I want to make sure that he doesn't hurt himself too badly.'

Jesse frowned and furrowed his brows. A look of worry flashed across his face while he studied me, and I could tell that he did not like the idea of me going out there by myself. "Are you sure, Luna?" he asked and cocked his head to the side while he studied me.

I hesitated before I slowly nodded, biting back a small smile. 'Yes,' I said and shifted on my feet. 'I am sure that I want to find my mate and make sure that I stay safe. I will be fine.'

I hope...

Jesse nodded. "There will be other wolves near you, but they will not do anything to stop you from going to him. I think you will be able to find him by following whatever destruction that he caused until he gets to a place where he is attacking something or howls, growls, or snarls, that will sound through the air."

I furrowed my brows and slowly nodded, biting the inside of my lip. Worry and fear for my mate filled my body, and all I wanted to do was go ahead and find him to make sure he was safe.

"Then go ahead and go, Luna," Jesse said and bowed. "JJ and I will enjoy breakfast before I take her to her room so that she can take a nap. Ok?"

I nodded and bit back a small smile while I bit back a small sigh of relief. 'Thank you for everything, Jesse,' I said and bowed my head just a tad. 'I appreciate it and everything that you do.'

And with that, I left, silently praying that my mate was fine and well.
