Chapter 51- Daniel's POV
I placed my phone to my ear after I clicked my uncle, praying that he would answer his cell because he has not been in his office and did not answer his work phone.
I stood and started to pace again while I moved a hand through my hair and pursed my lips in annoyance.
Pick up, I thought, pursing my lips further in annoyance while I waited for the ringing to end and for him to answer or for it to go to voicemail. Please pick up, Uncle Dean. I need you to pick up.
My mate watched me pace back and forth, back and forth with a small frown on her face. She didn't say a word or tried to get me to look at her as if she knew that I needed to do this, especially since my uncle was taking so long to answer.
And finally, before it went to voicemail, someone answered with a soft "hello?" earning a groan of annoyance from someone else beside them.
There was another small groan as the person smacked the other person, and I couldn't help but smile because I had a feeling that my aunt had smacked my uncle.
"Daniel, Sweetie? Are you ok? What's wrong?" the person, my Aunt Clarice, asked with concern, filling her voice. "Is the pack ok? What happened?"
"The pack is ok for right now, Aunt Clarice," I said and bit back a tired sigh before I shook my head and moved a hand through my hair while I pursed my lips in annoyance. "And so am I."
"And what about your mom?" Aunt Clarice asked with a small frown in her voice. "Is she ok?"
I licked my lips and hesitated, clearing my throat while I shifted on my feet. "That's... why I am trying to call your mate," I said. I started to pace again, and my mate continued to watch me with a frown on her face. "Were you two busy?"
"Yes," Uncle Dean said from the other side of the line. "We were b-"
"Shut up, Dean," Aunt Clarice scolded and smacked him again, earning a small yelp from the other male. "We weren't too busy for you not to contact us, Daniel," she soothed. "What is it? What's wrong with your mother? Does it have to do with the baby?"
I bit my lip and slowly nodded. "I think so," I said. "Mom's in the hospital right now, a-"
"And I am on my way," Uncle Dean said without me having to say anything else. "Is the baby on her way?"
There were some shuffling and whispered voices before my uncle took his phone from his mate and tucked it underneath his ear while he started to get ready to leave.
I blinked and blinked again, shocked and surprised. "Uh..."
My uncle sighed and continued to get ready. "Daniel, is the baby on her way? Is my sister ok?"
"I do not know if the baby is on her way or not. Neither Dad nor the doctor have come out of the hospital room yet to give us any news as to what had happened."
There was a pause on the other line while Uncle Dean stopped doing whatever it was that he was doing. "Then why are you calling me and interrupting my sexy time with my mate?" he asked, sounding very annoyed, and I couldn't help but wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips in annoyance.
"Dean! Apologize to your nephew right this second!" Aunt Clarice said from further away from the phone. "If you do not apologize to your nephew, then you will never touch me ever again in that way."
"Bu-"
"No, Dean," she interrupted his complaints. "Now apologize."
Uncle Dean muttered something under his breath that I couldn't hear before he yelped as if my aunt threw something at him. "What was that for, Woman?" he asked in a mock angry tone.
"That is for you being an asshole to your nephew," she said. "How was he supposed to know that you and I w-"
"Ok, ok, Woman," Uncle Dean said, interrupting Aunt Clarice from saying something about their sexual life, much to my relief, and I couldn't help but smile tiredly. "I am sorry, Dannie Boy," he said, even though I could tell that he didn't mean it. "What can I do for you?"
"I am going to need you and then some of your pack warriors to come up," I said with a tired sigh and moved a hand through while I continued to pace back and forth. "Has Mom talked to you about her being kidnapped and stuff like that?"
My uncle paused before he started to bang around his room again. "Yes," he said, getting down to business. "Do you think that there is going to be a fight in your packlands in a couple of days?" he asked.
"I don't know," I said, honestly, "but I have a feeling that it will be within a week or so, especially since they might want to come and get Mom back as well as the others that she had "rescued.""
Including my mate... I pressed my lips into a thinner line and worry blossomed in my chest.
I glanced at my mate to see that she was already staring at me with wide eyes filled with worry.
She offered me a tight smile and tucked her head closer to her chest while she stared at me before she held out her hand for me to take.
I bit back a small smile and walked over to her while I waited for Uncle Dean to say something.
"Aren't some of them trying to leave?" he asked.
"They are and they will," I said and nodded. "I think some of them have decided to stay at least for now," I added as an afterthought.
"Hmmm. Do they know that there will be a fight?" he asked, and I had a feeling that he raised an eyebrow in question.
"I'll let them know as soon as my contact lets me know. He needs to hear from one of his contacts and confirm dates or close to them."
"And will this contact warn him when they are going to attack?" Dean asked.
"Yes," I said and nodded, taking my mate's hand. I placed a small kias on it and cleared my throat while I shifted on my feet. "I think it would be best if we talked in person about this said contact," I said, "especially since it deals with Mom."
Uncle Dean sighed. "Ok, well, a group of Warriors and I will be at the pack in about twenty hours. We just have to get packed and make sure that everything is fine here before we do."
I breathed a small sigh of relief, and the weight of the world seemed to lift off my shoulders as soon as he said that. "Ok, Uncle Dean," I said, earning a small chuckle from him. "I will see you when you get here in twenty hours."
"Contact more of your allies after you find said information. I just want to be the first one to see my baby niece before anyone else."
I bit back a small snort and smirked while I tucked my head closer to my chest. "You will see her as soon as Mom allows you to," I said. "However, you will get to meet my mate and Parker's mate, too."
"Ooh, that will be fun. Do not have any babies yet because I don't want to be a great-uncle until I am way older than I am right now."
I snorted and held back an eye roll while I smirked. "You are already old, Uncle Dean," I said, earning a gasp from him while my silent aunt busted out laughing. "I do not know why you would think it was any different."
"Rude," he said, and I couldn't help but smile and tuck my head closer to my chest. "Bye!"
And with that, he hung up leaving me feeling smug with a small smirk on my face.
Oh Goddess...
