Chapter 46- Daniel's POV

My mate breathed a small sigh of relief while she slowly nodded. She looked at me and pressed her lips into a thin line, and I had a feeling that she wanted to see if I would hide anything from her either.

I bit back a small smile and shook my head. "I will not hide anything from you either, Katie," I promised while I pulled her closer to me and kissed the side of her head, and she closed her eyes with a small smile on her face. "You will know everything that I know; I promise."

"And because you are his Luna, so you are on the same level as him," Sarah said, and I bit back a small smile while I nodded in confirmation. "You are also on the same level as Luna Jess, even though she has more experience in being a Luna." She shrugged and grimaced.

"And she will help you learn how to be a Luna," I said and pulled her closer to me until she was almost on my lap before I placed another small kiss to the side of her head. "You are not going to be put into that position alone; I promise."

My mate breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded. "Thank you, Daniel," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She closed her eyes a little and leaned her head on my shoulder, biting back a small sigh of relief.

I placed another kiss on her forehead before I cleared my throat and grew serious, looking at my mate. "So, is there anything else that you want to discuss?" I asked while I raised an eyebrow in question.

My mate shrugged and grimaced. "Not yet," she said honestly with a small shake of her head. She licked her lips before she shifted in her seat, looking very nervous. "If I do have any questions, can I ask you them?" she asked and looked at me with a hopeful look on her face.

I bit back a small smile while I slowly nodded. "Yes," I confirmed. "You can ask me questions, or you can ask anyone in the pack anything. They know that you are the Luna and that you are my mate. They've known that you were the Luna for a while."

"How?" she asked and looked between the two of us. She frowned and furrowed her brows while she cocked her head, studying us. "How do they know that I was the Luna when I didn't even know?"

"Because when I found you there was this shift or something," I said while I furrowed my brows and tucked my head closer to my chest. "I don't know, but everyone knows that you are my mate and that you need to be protected."

My mate furrowed brows further and looked between the two of us again. She didn't say a word before she pressed her lips into a thin line, and I could tell that she wanted to know more, even though she had no idea how to ask it.

"We can ask someone if you would like," I suggested, and she looked at me. "I am not able to answer the question because all I know is that you are my mate and my Luna."

My mate slowly nodded. She didn't say a word and looked at me before she looked at Sarah, and I had a feeling that she wondered if she had felt it.

Sarah smiled and shook her head. "I do not know about the shift because I was not part of the pack when it happened," she said apologetically. "Parker might be able to explain it, but I do not know if he will be able to say anything about it."

I shook my head and chuckled. "He was too interested in you, Sarah, to pay attention to it," I said, and Sarah bit back a small smile and looked down with her cheeks turning red. "I don't know if Mom will know, but we can ask her."

"Speaking of your mom... do you think that we should start this meeting?" Sarah asked and looked between the two of us. She furrowed her brows and cocked while she studied me. "I mean, doesn't Roger have to go somewhere?"

I bit back a small sigh and slowly nodded, moving a hand through my hair and growing serious. "I think so," I said and nodded in confirmation. I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat before I looked at my mate. "Is there anything else that you need to know or you want us to cover before the meeting, or do you want us to get everyone in here so that we can get it started?"

"We can go ahead and get the meeting started," Katie said with her voice barely above a whisper. She cleared her throat and shifted in her seat while she looked at me before she looked at the ground with her cheeks growing red.

I nodded in confirmation and pressed my lips into a thin line. 'Hey, Mom?' I asked, linking my mother.

'Yes?' she asked instantly as soon as I called for her, and I could hear the concern in her voice. 'Is everything ok? Are you ok?'

I bit back a small smile and mentally nodded, relieved. 'I am, Mom,' I confirmed. 'I am ok. Everything is ok. We are all fine.'

My mother breathed a small sigh of relief, and she mentally nodded while the weight of the world seemed to lift off of her shoulders. 'Ok,' she said with the same relief in her voice. 'Are you wanting us to come up?' she asked. She paused, growing serious, and I had a feeling that she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. 'How has the meeting gone so far? Is Katie ok with everything?'

I licked my lips before I pressed them into a thin line, not knowing how I was supposed to answer that question.

'Daniel?' Mom asked again, concerned when I didn't answer her off the bat. Concern filled her voice, and I knew that she didn't like it that I didn't answer her question. 'How is the meeting so far?'

Again, I hesitated because I still had no idea what to say before I sighed and shook my head, moving a hand through my hair. 'Can you just come up, Mom?' I asked, praying that she would understand that I didn't know what to say and for her not to push just yet. 'Please? Also, can you make sure that Parker, Dad, and Roger are with you? I think that might be all that we need for now.'

My mother chuckled, and I had a feeling that she relented with a slow nod. 'We are on our way,' she said. 'Reed is on the way as well and so are Trent and Jonas.'

I bit back an annoyed sigh and slowly nodded, not knowing why the old Beta Male and Gamma Male were going to be in the meeting as well but didn't say anything differently. 'It sounds like a party,' I grumbled, sarcastically, earning a small chuckle from her.

'Yes, it does,' she confirmed, 'but I think both parties are needed.' She paused and grew serious, and I couldn't help but grow serious as well. 'You are still to lead the meeting as Alpha, Daniel, but you'll also need them and the wisdom that they can provide.'

My wolf growled with relief when she said that I would lead the meeting, especially since I was the actual Alpha of the pack, and I relaxed ever so slightly, even though I had no idea why I had gotten so tense.

'Good,' I said with a small sigh of relief, earning a small chuckle from her, and I looked at my mate when she nudged me.

She frowned and cocked her head to the side while she studied me with lips pressed into a thin line, silently asking me what was wrong and why I had gotten so tense before I relaxed again.

I bit back a small smile and shook my head, silently indicating that everything was fine and that she didn't need to worry.

'I love you, my son,' Mom said, randomly, and my heart grew warm and became filled with love.

'I love you, too, Mom,' I said, 'and I will see you when you get here.'

And with that, I set up a small block, pushing her out of my mind and waiting for then to appear at the door so that we could get this meeting started and plan for a future that we had no control over, praying that nothing would harm us either way.

Oh Goddess...
