I DON'T OWN PJO OR HoO CHARACTERS OR SETTINGS. I ONLY OWN THE PLOT AND MILO.
Nico was worried about Will. Wow, that was a change. To be fair, he always worried for Will. But he'd always assumed he never had any reason too, Will knew how to take care of himself as well as he knew how to take care of others. But this worry was a whole knew level of worry. The light that had been in Will's eyes as they joyously celebrated Nico's amnesia healing disappeared almost as soon as Milo came into view. This alone worried Nico. How much had he missed? As far as he knew, Milo had always been kind to Nico and the other CHB residents.
However, those weren't the only things worrying Nico when it came to Will Solace. When Kayla was brought up, Will seemed to shatter. Nico had always thought the son of Apollo would be well accustomed to death, seeing as he worked as a doctor. He knew firsthand the pain of losing a sister though, so Nico understood why it would hurt Will.
Nico finished his buisness in the Apollo cabin and walked outside to find Austin and Will locked in a tight embrace. He smiled sadly, glad that they had each other. When Bianca died, Nico had found it easier to push everyone away. Bia was his best friend, the only one he could trust. When she was gone, Nico felt that he had no one. He spent his days travelling between camps. Finding Hazel was one of the best days of his life, and even she couldn't fill the gap Bia had left. In any case, Nico was glad Will and Austin had each other.
"Hey, Sunshine." Nico said softly to Will, before smiling sadly at Austin. "I'm sorry for your loss."
Austin nodded. "She lived a good life, no matter how short it was."
"Too short." Will murmured, and Nico took the blond boy's hand. "Her life, no matter how good it was, was too short. Who's gonna tell Darren, hey? I'm sure Apollo already knows. But he hasn't done anything, has he?" There was venom in Will's voice, not directed at Nico or Austin but at the sky, towards Olympus. Nico had no doubt that Aphrodite was hanging on to every word, desperate to find out how Nico would comfort his love.
"Will, sweetie, let's go inside, alright? It might not be safest out here." Nico said gently, guiding Will inside before giving Austin a sorrowful look. I'm sorry, he mouthed, and only just saw Austin nod again before turning away to go to the infirmary, most likely to cover Will's shift like he had for the last couple of weeks.
Once inside, the two boys lay side by side on Will's bed. Will was crying softly. "She didn't deserve to die..."
"I know." Nico responded gently, stroking the mop of blond hair. (time for some hamilton references) "If I could spare her life, if I could trade her life for mine, she'd be standing here right now, and you would smile. That would be enough."
There was a weak sniffle, and a giggle. "Did you just- di Angelo, did you just quote Hamilton?"
"Maybe I did. Or maybe I'm just a natural wordsmith." Nico tried to hide his blush with a grin.
A louder laugh this time. "I suspect the former. Death Boy, remember that one time I tried to ask you out to the movies and you took like five minutes just to form a literate response?"
Nico blushed more. "Shush, Solace."
"Maybe I just have that affect on you."
"Maybe you just are really sleep deprived and don't know what you're talking about." Nico retorted, his cheeks as red as a tomato.
"But, do you remember?" Will asked, so softly Nico might not have heard it if he wasn't already lying so close to the son of Apollo.
"I remember you, Will." Nico breathed.
(A/N) i'm tempted to end this fanfic here. I originally had another plot alongside the amnesia but it's less developed. Maybe I'll write a sequel if this is the end. Please comment and let me know what you'd like!
