Chapter Fifty-Five: The Girl With Red Hair

Ouma's POV:

"Ouma I know this might be hard to believe, but I really doubt you're other self was a drag queen. Or at least out in the open as one" Maiko said trying to contain her laughter, "yeah he was a clown~" I lied as she sighed pulling out her notepad.

"Well, so far everything seems to be exactly as you were before the coma...hm. Well, we never finished that one exercise about DICE, have you managed to sort out any of those memories by any chance? It's been tested that the more..how should I put this, the more warm memories are often the easiest to process?" Maiko asked.

"They bungee jumped off of buildings," I told her confidently, she marked that down, "or maybe they ran a secret prank empire? Nah it was the bungee jumping, that's a lie! They really were all-"

...

"Why did you stop?" Maiko asked concerned as I just grinned, "cause I felt like it~" I lied, she didn't seem to buy it but moved on regardless, "well it seems like whichever DICE you may or may not be telling me about they're quite adventurous..." she emphasized.

"I do need to know if there actually is any problems though, with your memories, I admit with your case we've been concerned about what may or may not have been compromised" She admitted.

...Do I tell her I know some of DICE...his DICE, are dead? Or at least just the one...and that I know two of them entered Danganronpa and never came out again?

"One's blurry, that's it," I said, a half-truth, "blurry?" she asked confused, I felt uncomfortable as she seemed to grow concerned, "I can't see their face, and any time any memories even said their name I couldn't hear it" I admitted.

"That's...that's not normal" she muttered as she gazed down at her notes, before turning back to me, "do you mean you just don't have a lot of memories of this person compared to the others? What do you mean-can you physically not see their face or even know their name?"

"It's like one of those weird glitch characters from anime," I told her nonchalantly, curious if she would actually tell me what again was wrong with me. I'm becoming a champion in handling these diagnoses.

"Hm...well normally if memory has been removed, it's just that the person can't access those memories or even know they exist...or just fuzzy where they can't pick up on any details whatsoever...but your memory recollection has always seemed to be full of details that are normally forgotten. So it's strange actually that this is the one thing you can't access...maybe you're pregame self still has control over that memory..." she hypothesized.

...

"That's not it.." I told her, she turned to me, "why?" she asked, "he doesn't remember her." I told her, I hated being honest but this might be the only way I actually figure out what happened to her, "he doesn't remember?" she asked the panic in her face being exposed.

"Wait you're pregame is personified? Can you visibly see them? Are they like the person you're describing?" she asked. If I tell her she'll think I've gone insane, if I don't tell her then this whole thing might be written off and I won't get my answers.

Let's play with fire.

"He's not like them, I could-I see them in my dreams." I lied, she pondered this, "then...what did....wait....no that can't be it..." she said as she stood up and started pacing around the room, "the person, the one obscured, are they a boy or a girl? Are there any features you could pick out from them? Like hair color?" she asked.

"A girl I guess...red hair. She had bright red hair that's the only thing I know about them" I confessed, "oh no..." she mumbled.

"Where is she?" I finally asked, finally pushing her instead of beating around the bush, "she's...she was a former participant...another patient actually I've been tasked with...I can't say as much as I would like, I've already gotten in trouble for this" she admitted.

"What happened to her?" I asked, "Is she dead?" I pushed further, "no she's not dead...she's...she's like you Ouma." Maiko finally broke with a sigh, "she's from season fifty-one, in fact, the character they made for you was based on hers...she was a victim in her game, and like you suffered a traumatizing death. Unlike you though, you learned how to somewhat manage your memories to the point you haven't yet been driven to insanity...

"But she didn't. She couldn't, and because of that she a permanent resident of the facility" Maiko briefed, "I can't discuss much further than that-"

"Who killed her?" I quickly asked, I could feel a slow sense of dread for the answer...why? They're technically not my friends...they're his friends...but even still, he asked me to...I need to at least know what happened to them.

...

Maiko paused in her answer before she sighed, "I think...based on how easy you took this information...you already knew she was a participant didn't you?" she asked, I paused in shock.

"Ah so you did...you don't remember her death though...? Well, I guess that's to be expected...most people would try to suppress that sort of scene...even an audience member, much more if you considered her a friend...well...I guess that also means you probably already know the person who killed her..." Maiko hinted.

What does she mean I already know? If I knew I wouldn't have been asking her about it, did he know and just not tell me during the scenes? No, he must have...or did he not know because he stopped watching after what happened to her?

Who could have-

...

There's no way Danganronpa could do that...no way that a simulation...

But if it could make Saihara and I enemies in that game...and transform us then...there really is nothing stopping them from...but if that's true and I really do know or did know the killer then...

Kazue...Kazue did it...

That's why Kazue killed himself.

That's why pregame was horrified at the death of his friend.

Because it wasn't just anyone who brutally killed them...it was her boyfriend...

...

"What's her name...?" I asked, Maiko paused.

"#*(!~!(~!" she said, I felt a growing headache at the mention of..."what's her name?" I repeated annoyed as Maiko looked at me confused "#*(!~!(~!" she repeated as my headache only seemed to grow.

"Why aren't you telling me...?"I asked annoyed, "Ouma I just said her name twice...what do you mean?" she asked.

...

"Hey Maiko, is people forgetting names someone just told them normal in Danganronpa?"
