Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life

Hiccup and Astrid woke up. "Morning." He said. She nodded back. "So you wanna learn to fly properly?" Asked Hiccup. Astrid nodded. They left the tree house and went to an open field. "Hiccup, you could make a whole bunch of houses or something for different dragons." Astrid said. "That's actually a really good idea." He then stood with Toothless while she stood with Stormfly. "Okay. The first thing you do is prove to the dragon that you are a friend and that you could be trusted. Like this." He then reached his hand out to Toothless. Toothless sniffed it and then pressed his nose into the hand. "See? You try." Astrid walked over to Stormfly and held out her hand. Stormfly sniffed it and hesitated but still pressed her nose into her hand. "There ya go. If your dragon bows its head then you can climb onto their back." Toothless bowed his head and Hiccup climbed on. Astrid looked back at Stormfly who bowed down. Astrid climbed on. "Now then. Lets try flying around the island. Your dragon needs to trust you and you need to trust your dragon." And with that they flew up into the sky. They flew through the sky. "How are you doing?" Hiccup called. "I'm doing good! Right girl?" Stormfly made a small noise in agreement.

They landed back on the ground on the cliff edge. Toothless and Stormfly began playing while Hiccup and Astrid sat on the cliff. "Have you ever wondered what a dragon is thinking?" Hiccup asked. "Well... I guess." "Imagine if you could talk to dragons and understand what they think or say." At this point Toothless and Stormfly had stopped playing and stared at them. "It would be pretty cool." There was a small moment of silence before Hiccup spoke. "Did anyone miss me?" Astrid blinked. "Of course. Everyone did. Why do you ask?" "Because everyone hated me. Even my dad. All because I'm scrawny and a fishbone. I've seen the way he looks at me, he's always disappointed. It's Viking tradition to call the runt of the litter Hiccup." Astrid put a hand on his shoulder. "He may have acted like that but he does care for you. Everyone does." "Sure. Anyway, look on the bright side life, at least they won't have a screw up like me getting in their way." Astrid shook her head. "No. They won't have an amazing person who is smart, kind and caring." "Thanks Astrid." She smiled. "Incase anyone does come here, do you wanna make some clothes so they won't recognise us?" She asked. Hiccup nodded. "Yeah. We can also have helmets or something so our faces won't be shown." They headed back to their house in the tree and Hiccup got to work.

After hours of working he finally finished. They were black shirts. Hiccup had black trousers that were a very light material but useful in the cold and Astrid had a black skirt with spikes and a small skull on. Her shirt also had her armoured shoulder blades. "They look amazing!" Astrid said. Hiccup smiled. "Wanna try them on?" She nodded. Hiccup and Toothless left the house and waited for her to change. "I'm done!" They went back in. "Woah." Astrid blushed. "What do you think?" "I love it." He said stuttering. "Wanna go for a fly?" She asked. Toothless jumped up excitedly and Hiccup laughed. "Yeah." And so they took off. As they flew around fog began to appear. Toothless and Stormfly began to freak and so they dived down. "Woah bud what wrong?" Toothless ignored him. They then saw more dragons come. "Get down." They both ducked on their dragons as More began to appear, carrying their kill. "If that's their kill... then what does that make us?" She asked. Suddenly they took a nose dive.

The fog cleared and they saw a giant mountain, towering above them. "The nest." Astrid gasped. "Oh what my dad wouldn't give to find this." Hiccup said. They flew round inside the mountain. "What are they doing? They aren't eating any of the food." Astrid said. "Well it's satisfying to know all of our food is being dumped in a hole." Astrid hit his arm. They hid behind a pile of rocks and watched as a Gronckle dropped a tiny fish inside. Suddenly a giant dragon appeared, ate the Gronckle and disappeared. "What was that?" Astrid asked. "I don't know but we should get out of here." The dragon resurfaced. "Now bud!" Toothless and Stormfly flew away and narrowly escaped the dragon. They were about to get caught but then a Zippleback cut in front and was taken instead.

They landed back on their island. "That makes so much sense. It's like a giant shove. They're the workers and that's their Queen." "What do we do?" "I don't know. We could get Berk's help." Hiccup shook his head. "No, we could train more dragons to help us fight. Maybe if we stop it there won't be anymore dragon raids." Hiccup said. Astrid nodded. "Okay. But where are we going to find them?" "I'm gonna regret this but... Berk. The dragons from the dragon training." "Should we go tomorrow?" "Yeah. When the sun begins to set. Then we get there at dark. We can sneak to the arena and free the dragons. Then fly back here. And then the next day we could train them." Astrid nodded. "And if we're caught?" "Well we will wear our new clothes along with the masks. That way they won't recognise us." "We should get to sleep then." And so they headed back to their tree house and went to sleep, thinking of a plan for the next day.
