The next morning I am standing with Haymitch in an elevator. "They'll put all kinds of stuff right in front, right in the mouth of the Cornucopia. There'll even be a bow, dagger, and a machete there. Don't go for them." Haymitch said "Why not?" I ask "It's a bloodbath. They're trying to pull you in. That's not your game. You turn, run, and find high ground, look for water. Water's your new best friend." I nod. "Don't step off that pedestal early or they'll blow you sky high." Haymitch said "I won't." I say and we step out of the elevator. "Ophelia, you can do this." Haymitch said and he looks away towards the plane before looking back. "Thanks." I say and he pats my cheek. I walk towards the plane.

I see all of the other tributes sitting in the plane. I sit in one of the seats and keep my face cold while I look around the plane. The redhead from District 5 looks at me before quickly looking away. The woman putting a shot in our arm walks over to me. "Give me your arm." She said and I do so. "What is that?" I ask "Your tracker." She said before walking away. I lean up in the seat resting my elbows on my knees looking down at the floor calming myself down. I can feel eyes looking at me and I look up and glare at Cato who is looking at me. I hear Clove snicker from beside me and I roll my eyes. "You know you're gonna die, right?" Clove whispered to me. "I wouldn't count on it, Two." I say

Once the plane lands, I am walked by two Peacekepers to a room. Cinna is in the room and I walk over to him hugging him and he hugs me back. I pull away from him. "Here." He helps me put my jacket on. He unclips one part of it and shows the Mockingjay pin making me gasp quietly. He puts a finger over his mouth. "Shh." Cinna said "Thank you." I say quietly and he clips it back and zips my jacket back up. "Thirty seconds." The electronic voice says and I turn towards it. I can feel myself slowly starting to freak out. "I'm not allowed to bet, but if I could, I'd bet on you." Cinna said and he kisses my cheek before putting his forehead against mine. "Twenty seconds." The electronic voice says and I back up from Cinna. I turn towards the pod. "Breathe, Ophelia. You got this." I say quietly. "Ten seconds." The electronic voice said and I step into the pod and it closes around me making me spin to face Cinna. Cinna nods at me and the pod starts moving upwards.

I rise out of the pod and the sun blinds me for a moment before my eyes adjust to the sunlight. I see a forest surrounding us and the cornucopia in the middle with stuff surrounding it. I try not to smirk when I notice that the Arena is a forest. I glance around the cornucopia to see a bow with arrows as well as a machete and daggers. The gamemaker starts counting down and I ready myself to get to the machete and a pack as quick as possible. I glance over at Peeta and he shakes his head at me knowing what I was planning. I nod slightly and his face drops when he realizes that I was going for it anyways no matter what Haymitch said.

The count down gets down to the last 10 seconds and all of the tributes also get ready to run. The alarm goes off and all of us go running. I run straight to the machete and grab it before rolling out of the way when someone goes to hit me with something and I quickly stand up stabbing that person in the stomach throwing them away from me. Another tribute comes at me and I slice the blade across their stomach. I keep fighting my way through the tributes that run at me until I get to a pack. I grab a pack and I hear someone behind me and I quickly spin around seeing the male tribute from District 9 and I quickly stab him in the throat. I hear a dagger hit his back before he drops and I see Clove behind him and I quickly hold up the pack to stop her dagger from hitting me. I smirk at her when I grab the dagger from the pack and the dagger from the tribute from 9 before running off into the forest away from her as she begins chasing me. I know by now I'm covered in the other tributes blood and it makes me a little worried on how Prim is reacting right now.

I make it to the woods and I bump into someone and we both fall to the ground. I sit back up quickly and I see that it's the red head from District 5. She stares at me and I stare back and she gets up and runs off and I run off the other way. I hear yelling as I get further into the woods and I spot a tribute and run the opposite way and fall down a hill and slide down it. "Fuck!" I yell out as I fall down it. I quickly get back up grabbing my machete and running again until I find somewhere to sit down at to look through my pack. I find rope, and a container for water. I hear a cannon go off making me look up. I count the booms of the cannon and we get to 12. I knew I had caused at least 7 of those.

I see movement to my right and I quickly look over. There is a glowing butterfly on a rock and I slowly get up and walk over to it. It flies when I get close to it but I look up and that's when I notice there are more butterflies surrounding me. I laugh as they start landing on me and flying around me. Once they fly off, I make my way towards where I think water will be. I fill my bottle up before taking a drink of the water and fill it back up again. I start sharpening tree limbs to make a snare to hunt a squirrel. The squirrel is cooking and I'm looking around at my surroundings because of the fire. As soon as the squirrel is done cooking, I immediately put out the fire and eat before climbing a tree. I find the branch that I know will hold me and wrap the rope around me and tie a knot. I lean back against the tree before I hear a whirring and clicking noise causing me to look at the tree right beside my head.

It's not long before I hear the music they play when they show the fallen tributes. I watch as all 12 of the tributes go by before it ends. I release the breath I was holding when I saw that Peeta wasn't up there. With knowing who died I now know both sets of Careers are still alive, one of the tributes from districts 3, 5, 8, and 10. Along with both Rue and Thresh from 11 and Peeta and I. I fall asleep for a little bit before I am awoken by the smell of something burning. I turn my head and see a fire near by and I scoff shaking my head before leaning back on the tree knowing Cato would probably take care of her so there's no need for me to move. A little bit later I hear rustling of leaves and the girl scream and the cannon go off signaling the 13th tribute to die. I lean back against the tree further. I knew I could most likely take Glimmer, Clove and Marvel on but with them being with Cato, I don't know if I could and win.

3rd Person Point of View

"Well, that makes 13 gone in the first eight hours. And Claudius, I think I see an alliance forming." Caesar said and then they show the cornucopia bloodbath. They are watching the replay of District Twelve's volunteer Ophelia Everdeen's kills. The video shows Ophelia slashing through the tributes as they come at her. She is shown killing 7 of the tributes before retreating to the woods. "Can you believe it? Ophelia Everdeen, the girl on fire being the tribute to have the highest kill count at the bloodbath in the 74th annual Hunger Games. Did you expect this from her because I surely did not." Claudius said "No I surely did not either. The people of The Capital are already referring to her as Lady Death. Do you agree?" Caesar asked "Yes, I very much do. She killed more than half of the tributes just at the bloodbath. I can't wait to see what else she brings to the games." Claudius said "Me too and there you have it folks. Ophelia Everdeen, The Girl on Fire now known as Lady Death. Could she be the victor of the 74th annual Hunger Games?" Caesar asked

Ophelia's POV

I hear the Careers make their way towards me. "Wait! Did you see the look on her face?" Marvel asked "How stupid can you get? A fire." Clove said and I see Glimmer turn towards Cato. "Oh, no! Please don't kill me! Oh, no!" Glimmer said and I roll my eyes. If I had a bow or was willing to lose a dagger and had a straight shot and could get out of here before they saw me then I would aim right for Glimmers head. "That's actually a good impression." Cato turns to look behind him. "Hey, lover boy!" I see Peeta step in front of Cato and Glimmer making me lean back against the tree further with my hand over my mouth. "You sure she went this way?" Cato asked "Yeah, I'm sure." Peeta said "You better be." Cato said "Yeah, that was her snare we found back there." Peeta said "Are you sure we shouldn't just kill him now?" Glimmer asked "Nah. He's our best chance of finding her. Let's go." Cato said and they keep walking. Once they are out of ear shoot, I lower my hand. "Fuck." I whisper to myself. I knew I shouldn't have let my emotions get in the way.

-time skip-

Once it becomes daylight, I leave my tree and continue walking through the arena. When I find a tree suitable for me to sit on it, climb up the tree and tie myself to it. I get woken up to rumbling and I quickly turn my head to see fire taking down trees. "Shit!" I quickly untie the ropes and jumping down out of the tree rolling so I don't fuck up my ankle. I start running away from the fire that the Gamemakers are spreading. I see a fire ball flying towards me making me drop to the ground. "Seriously?" I jump up again and start running again before dodging another ball of fire. I continue running and suddenly a burning tree appears out of nowhere. "Oh come on!" I run the other way before they send another fire ball my way and I duck but not quickly enough and it hits my leg. "Fuck!" I find a place to sit for a second to look down at my wound before I look up and see a fireball coming right at me. I quickly get up and dodge the fireball and roll down the hill.

I get back up and grab my machete that I've somehow not lost yet or hurt myself with and keep running towards the lake that I know is nearby. I make it to the lake and suddenly I hear screaming and laughing. "Fuck." I mumble to myself when I see the Careers and Peeta. That's when I notice Glimmer has a bow. I stop moving in hopes that they don't see me but it wasn't good enough because Marvel starts pointing in my direction. "There she is! There she is!" Marvel yells and I quickly get out of the water and I hear them arguing over who's gonna kill me but I ignore which one says what. They're chasing me but I can't move as fast as normal because of my leg so I hear Cato gaining on me quickly.

I run until I run out of options knowing they're going to catch me but then I look up at a tree. I knew Glimmer had a bow but she can't aim worth a shit. I start climbing the tree as they start getting closer. "Where you going, baby?" I continue climbing the tree. "Where you going, Girl on Fire?" Cato asked "We got her!" Glimmer yelled and I scoff. "Miss Everdeen, I'm gonna get you!" Cato said "That's not gonna help you up there, Ophelia." Glimmer said "Where are you going?" Clove asked and I ignored their rambling and I continue to climb and I looked down to see Cato trying to follow me. I get near the top and stop for a minute. "I'm coming for you!" Cato yells up at me. "Sure you are!" I yell down to him and he continues to climb before hitting a branch that I knew would break. I smirk as it breaks sending him to the ground.

"I'll do it myself." Glimmer said notching an arrow. She released the arrow but it doesn't even come close to me. "Come on Glimmer, surely you can do better than that!" I yell taunting them and Cato grabs the bow and grabs one of her arrows. He shoots the arrow and like Glimmers, it doesn't even get close to me. I scoff laughing. "Maybe you should throw the sword!" I yell "Let's just wait her out. She's gotta come down at some point. It's that or starve to death. We'll just kill her then." Peeta said and I scoff. "You would like that wouldn't you, Twelve?!" I say looking down at him. The Careers are looking at me but I'm looking right at Peeta. He flinches a little when I call him by our district number instead of his name. He slightly shakes his head looking guilty but I just give him this emotionless look. "Okay. Somebody make a fire." Cato said and the Careers walk off but Peeta stays staring up at me. Once they move away from my tree, I move to sit down with my back against the tree trunk. I wince in pain because of my leg as I'm sitting down. I get my water out and pour a little on my burn making me grit my teeth and lay my head against the tree. I take the sleeve of my shirt and with my hand shaking press it against my wound.

-time skip-

It's become night time and I'm just sitting in my tree not moving making it seem like I'm asleep. But I'm keeping a close eye on them and I knew Peeta was staring at me. I hear a chiming noise and look up to see a sponsor gift floating toward my tree. I untie my ropes as I'm moving towards the gift. I sit in the fork of the tree and open the canister. There's a card in the canister so I grab it first. "Apply generously and stay alive." -H is written on it and I smile knowing it was Haymitch. I get the little tub out and open it to see salve that's supposed to help. I take a small amount on my fingers and rub it over the wound and I immediately feel the pain go away. I look up towards the sky and probably one of the cameras. "Thank you." I say quietly.

I go back to my part of the tree and settle back in and somehow fall asleep. When I wake up, I immediately look down at my wound. It looks so much better than it did but still not completely healed. "Psst. Psst." I look over and I see Rue standing in a tree. She points towards my tree and I look up to see a bees nest before looking back at her and she points down at the Careers. She makes the motion of saw the tree trunk and points down to them again. I nod smirking understand what she meant. I climb up the tree until I get close enough to reach with my machete but not close enough that they could sting me. I start cutting the branch with my machete. As I'm cutting I stop a couple times to make sure the Careers aren't awake and they're not.

I keep cutting until enough of it is cut off that it falls on its own. Thankfully, I somehow managed to only get stung twice. As the hive hits the ground they all start screaming as they're getting attacked by the bees. As they're running away Glimmer falls down and it's attacked more as she gets up. I quickly climb down my tree but because of how dizzy I suddenly become I fall down the rest of the way and I quickly get up running towards Glimmer to get the bow and arrows. I look at Glimmers face when I get over to her. "Oh, damn." I say and I take the bow out of her grip and the arrows off her back. "Run! Run! Run!" I look up and see 3 Peeta's running at me before he morphs into one Peeta. "Phee, go!" Peeta runs in front of me. "Get out of here! Go! What are you doing? Go!" Peeta said and I get up and start running. I start seeing Caesar in front of me. "Not only is it lethal, but the venom of a tracker jacker sting can produce powerful hallucinations." Hallucination Caesar said before I fall to the ground passing out.
