Chapter 5

I watched the tv in confusion, staring at the lady on the screen.

"Why is she fat like that?" I asked.

"Gee, she's pregnant," Mikey said.

I looked at him in confusion.

"You know, she's gonna have a baby," Pete said.

"My Mama told me babies came from angels who brought them from heaven to be with their parents," I said. "Is that not true? Where do babies come from?"

"Oh god," my dad muttered, running a hand down his face.

Mikey and Pete snickered quietly as I looked between them.

"Where do babies come from?" I asked.

"They come from a woman's stomach," my dad said.

"She has a baby in there?" I asked and he nodded. "How'd it get there?"

My dad looked at Mikey and I frowned.

"How'd it get there?" I repeated.

"Yeah, dad, how?" Mikey asked with a small smirk.

"Okay, well, when a boy and a girl love each other enough then they can have a baby," he said.

"How?" I asked.

"Mikey do you wanna take this?" He asked.

"Nope, I'm good," Mikey said, laughing with Pete.

"Why won't you just tell me?" I asked.

"Okay, Gee," my dad said, sighing quietly. "When two people love each other they do something called sex, it's kind of like a special hug."

"I know sex," I said. "Me and Frankie sexed once."

"Wait, you what?" My dad asked and he looked upset. "If Frank weren't gone then I'd say you wouldn't be able to see him anymore."

"Wh-what?" I asked, my eyes filling with tears. "But Frankie is so nice, why wouldn't you let me see him?"

My dad looked like he had no clue what to say.

"Would you rather continue this conversation or the baby one?" Mikey asked.

"Baby," I said.

"Okay, so when two people have sex then they have a baby," he said.

"Am I gonna have a baby?" I asked, resting a hand on my stomach.

"No, only women can have babies," my dad said.

"Men and women can sex together too?" I asked.

"Yes," he said.

"But...how's that make baby?" I asked.

"Because, oh god, when men have sex they, you know, release semen," he said.

I frowned in confusion. "What's that?"

"How do I put this in children's terms?" My dad asked.

"Gee, you know when you have sex with Frank and there's sticky stuff after?" Pete asked and I nodded. "That's semen."

"God, I did not think we would be having this conversation today," my dad grumbled. "Okay, so when a man's semen is in a woman it makes a baby."

I scrunched my nose up. "That's where I came from? And Mikey and Pete?"

"Yes, Gee," my dad said.

"And Frankie too?" I asked.

"Gee, that's where everyone comes from," he said.

"And my Mama too?" I asked.

"Yes," he said.

"Can I see my Mama?" I asked. "Miss Williams said I could but I just have to ask you. She said it could be good for me."

"No, Gee," my dad denied.

Mikey and Pete stopped laughing as things suddenly got more serious.

"Why not?" I asked, a small pout on my lips.

"Because I don't think you should see her," he stated.

"But she's my Mama, I love her," I said.

"Gerard, you can't see her," he said.

"You can't tell me what to do, I only known you for not long," I said.

"Gerard, you are not gonna see your mom," My dad stated.

I crossed my arms.

"If you don't let me see her then...then I'm gonna say something bad," I said.

"Go ahead," he said.

I bit my lip. "A-are you sure? Because it's, like, really bad."

My dad raised his eyebrows expectantly, crossing his arms.

"Fuck," I whispered

"Alright, you're grounded," he said.

"I think I'm gonna get going," I heard Pete say to Mikey.

"Let me walk you out," Mikey said, walking out with him.

"G-grounded?" I asked. "Like how Frankie was buried in the ground?"

"No, Gee," My dad said. "It means no phone, no laptop, and no friends."

"Mama would never be so mean to me," I said.

"Gee--"

"Stupid head," I said, running upstairs.

I made sure to slam my door shut extra hard. I grabbed my backpack, dumping out all the books and papers.

"Baby boy, what are you doing?" Frank asked.

"I'm running away," I stated.

I put a bunch of clothes into my bag, making sure to get some of Frankie's big comfy hoodies too. I grabbed my blankie and put on my shoes.

"You can't leave," Frank said. "Everyone's gonna miss you."

"Well, I'm not gonna miss them," I said. "They're being meanies."

I grabbed the piece of paper I had been hiding for months, stuffing it into my pocket.

"Princess, stop," he said.

I opened my window and looked down.

"Stop, you're gonna hurt yourself," he said.

I ignored him as I jumped. My stomach dropped when I realized it was a mistake. I closed my eyes, knowing I was gonna be hurt. But then I felt two strong arms catch me and I looked at Frank. I giggled happily, hugging him tight.

"Oh daddy, you caught me!" I cheered. "Let's go!"

I held his hand as I started walking.

"How about we turn around and you can apologize to your dad for swearing and then we can go cuddle," he suggested.

"No," I denied. "I wanna be with my Mama."

"Gee, the prison isn't even open right now," he said. "They won't let you in."

I giggled and shook my head. "We aren't going to the prison, silly."

"Where are we going?" He asked.

"Home," I stated.

"Home is the other way," Frank said.

"No it's not," I denied.

I clutched my blankie to my chest, walking down the street. A car pulled up beside me and the window opened as I felt Frank's presence beside me disappear.

"You need a ride, sweetheart?" The man inside asked.

I nodded my head.

"Get in," he said.

I smiled and got into the passenger seat.

"Where you heading?" He asked.

I handed him the piece of paper with the address. I had stolen the paper from my dad's office a little while ago. It was in a big folder with a whole bunch of other papers from court when they took me from Mama. This paper has the address of my old home me and Mama used to live in.

"Alright, sit back, beautiful," he said.

He squeezed my thigh gently and I didn't really like the touch but he seemed nice.

"Do you believe in angels?" I asked as he started driving.

"No, not really," he said.

"I do," I said, hugging my blankie to my chest.

We drove for a little while, just listening to music. I left my cell phone at home so my dad wouldn't bother me. I felt his hand on my thigh again and I whimpered as he slowly moved it up.

"No, that's my princess parts," I said. "Only Frankie is allowed to touch me there."

I pushed his hand away and he pulled over.

"Get out," he stated.

"B-but--"

"Get out," he repeated.

I whimpered and got out of the car as he sped away. I looked around at my unknown surroundings, fear clenching my heart.

"Baby, come on, let's go back home before your dad gets too worried," Frank said. "You've already been gone for almost an hour."

I shook my head, walking up to a group of people on the dark street.

"E-excuse me, do you know how to get here?" I asked, showing them the address.

"Oh yeah, just go down the street turn left then turn right and it's the old factory there," the lady said.

I walked off and frank held onto my hand.

"Baby boy," he said. "Come on, let's just go home, I know the way. I'll even carry you if you want. We can cuddle in your bed and watch Hello Kitty."

I ignored him as we got to the building. The whole place was surrounded by yellow ribbon, like the ones when Lindsey made the school go into code red. It said 'Police Line: Do Not Cross' on it."

I went under the ribbon and opened the door. I found the basement door and smiled as I walked down the familiar steps. I turned on the light and shrieked happily.

"Daddy, we're home," I said.

I yawned quietly and sat on the couch.

"I'm sleepy," I said. "It's late. I'm gonna go night night."

I changed into my onesie, going to the bedroom. I crawled into the bed and smiled. Oh how I missed it here. Frank cuddled beside me and I smiled. I'm home and I have Frankie, what more could I want?

"You need to go home," he whispered.

"No I don't," I denied. "Never gonna go back."

"What about Mikey?" Frank asked, holding my hand. "He's gonna miss you."

I sniffled quietly, resting my head on his chest.

"I only want you and Mama." I stated.

"Tomorrow morning you and I are gonna get on a bus and we're gonna go back home, okay?" He asked.

I shook my head.

"I'm gonna stay here with you forever and the two of us can live here and we can be together forever and ever," I said. "And no one is here to bother us so you won't have to go away."

"But your family is gonna miss you," he said.

"But you and Mama are my family," I said. "Can we have boyfriend kissies now?"

Frank smiled softly, leaning forward to press his lips against mine. I smiled into the kiss, wrapping my arms around his neck. I pushed him onto his back and straddled his hips. I opened his suit jacket, pulling out Dee as I smiled. Frank laughed softly as I hugged her.

"You're too cute," he muttered. "Come here, cuddle with daddy."

I smiled, laying down and snuggling against his chest.

"I love you, daddy," I said. "I miss you."

"I'm right here, babydoll," Frank said.

"It's not the same," I muttered, my fingers softly playing with the button his jacket. "I wish you never crashed."

"Me neither," Frank agreed.

"Why did you have to drive me home?" I asked. "Wh-why couldn't we have just sexed and then you wouldn't have never been hurt."

"Come here, princess," he whispered.

I cried into his shoulder as he rubbed my back softly, humming me to sleep.
