Chapter 17
I kissed Ray, feeling the little aching in the pit of my stomach. I moved down his body on his bed and he looked down at me.
"Baby, you don't have to do anything if you don't want to," he said.
"I do," I said.
Ray helped me pull his pants and boxers down and I bit my lip. How did Lindsey do it again? Oh no, now I can't remember. What if I do it wrong? Oh, I don't wanna do it wrong, what if it hurts him because I'm wrong?
I felt my eyes water and lip quiver as I stared at his semi-hard erection. I couldn't help it, I burst into tears. Ray quickly pulled his pants back up and pulled me into his lap.
"Gee? What's wrong?" He asked.
I just cried into his shoulder as he rocked me gently. Ray kissed my forehead gently as I started to calm down.
"I'm sowwy I got scared," I whispered.
"Hey, it's okay," he said softly. "It doesn't matter, you were perfect."
I wiped my eyes and he gave me a soft kiss.
"You don't have to be scared, is it something I did?" Ray asked and I shook my head.
My phone rang and I picked it up.
"Gee, do you wanna go to the zoo?" My dad asked.
"What's zoo?" I asked.
"There's a bunch of animals there," he said and I gasped happily. "I can pick you up from Ray's in ten minutes."
"Can Ray come too?" I asked and he agreed before hanging up. "Ray, do you wanna go to the zoo?"
"I can't, I've gotta go to work in a bit," he said.
"You work too?" I asked.
"Yeah, I just work at a bookstore," he said.
"I wish I could read," I said sadly.
"You can read," Ray stated.
"But not like big kids books," I said. "I only can read little kid books."
"That's okay," ray said, "Soon you'll be reading big kid books too."
I smiled happily and my dad came soon. I sat in the backseat with Mikey while my dad and Ms. Iero was in the front.
"Where's the zoo?" I asked.
"It's a little ways away," my dad said.
"I got you a snack," Ms. Iero said.
I gasped happily when she handed me a little snack bag of animal crackers and my sippy cup. I cuddled up to Mikey's side as I ate happily. We got to the zoo and my dad paid the tickets before we walked in and stopped.
"Sunscreen, Gee," my dad said.
I whined, shaking my head.
"Come on, you're gonna get hurt if you don't," he said.
I pouted but let him put the sunscreen on me as I watched little kids run around.
"Even they don't need sunscreen," I grumbled unhappily.
"Well, complain to your mother," my dad said, putting the sunscreen away.
"My mama was perfect," I stated, crossing my arms.
He sighed but didn't say anything more. We walked and I gasped when I saw some animals.
"What is that?" I asked.
"That's a kangaroo," Mikey said.
"Wow," I muttered as I stared at it. "Look at it jump! They're so cute!"
I smiled, leaning against the railing as I watched the kangaroos. They lead me somewhere else and I looked at the giraffe.
"Look, Gee, you can even feed them," Mikey said.
I gasped, hurrying up the stairs when someone pushed me back.
"You have to wait in line," she said sternly.
My eyes watered as I looked at her angry face and my dad quickly caught up with me.
"I'm sorry, he doesn't know any better," my dad said. "He's still learning all this stuff."
"Oh, my bad, I'm sorry, I didn't know he was retarded," the lady apologized sympathetically.
"He isn't retarded," my dad denied, looking upset.
He took my hand and walked us back to our spot in line.
"Why do we have to wait in lines?" I asked.
"To make sure that everyone gets their turn," my dad said.
Luckily the lines didn't take long, they let five groups go at a time. We got to the front and they handed us some graham crackers. I smiled, taking a bite out of it.
"No, Gee, that's what you feed the giraffe," Mikey said with a chuckle.
"Oh," I muttered as we walked over to the railing.
The balcony area went to the height of the giraffes head. I held out my graham cracker and I giggled as the giraffe stuck its tongue out and ate it.
"Did you see that, Mikey?!" I exclaimed.
Mikey smiled, handing me his graham cracker so I could feed the giraffe again. I giggled before we walked away and I held Mikey's hand. We walked around for a bit, looking at all sorts of animals when I saw a stand.
"Can we get ice cream?" I asked.
My dad nodded, handing Mikey money. We went over and I tugged on Mikey's sleeve.
"I want strawberry," I whispered.
Mikey smiled, ordering for both of us. We sat on a bench with my dad and Ms. Iero as we ate.
"I like ice cream," I said. "I wish I could eat it all day."
They laughed and I looked around at all the children.
"Am I gonna be go to summer school?" I asked.
"No, maybe next year," my dad said. "I just want to spend a lot of time with you for the first summer that you're home."
"Are we gonna go on a abortion?" I asked.
The others looked at me in confusion.
"Frankie told me another word for vacation was abortion," I said.
"Why would he say that?" Ms. Iero asked.
"Because Mikey and dad were talking 'bout the baby getting a abortion and I didn't know what it meant and he told me it was the same thing as a vacation because Mikey told me the baby might be getting a vacation," I said.
"Okay, we might be able to go on a vacation," my dad said.
"To Bahamas like Ray?" I asked.
"I'm not sure about that, maybe somewhere else," he said.
I smiled happily, eating my ice cream.
"Where do you wanna go next?" My dad asked as I finished eating.
Ms. Iero grabbed a napkin, wiping my mouth and hands. We continued walking and I frowned when I saw Frank in front of a building for a moment. I went inside and saw it was completely empty except for Frank standing there. It was dark but the giant aquarium sent a pretty blue light throughout the room.
"Daddy!" I exclaimed.
I ran over and Frank hugged me tight.
"I missed you so much," I said.
I gave him a kiss and he smiled.
"I missed you too, baby boy," Frank said.
I smiled, resting my head on his shoulder as he held my hips. Frank swayed slowly and I giggled.
"I love you," I said. "Love you more than anything else in the world, Daddy."
He smiled and kissed the top of my head.
"I love you too," Frank said.
I gave him a kiss and smiled as he gently pressed me up against the wall. He left soft kisses on my neck and I giggled. The door opened and Frank was gone. Mikey hurried over and grabbed my hand. He pulled me out to where my dad and Ms. Iero were.
"Gee, you can't walk off like that," my dad scolded.
"But I miss Frankie," I said.
He sighed, running a hand down his face. Mikey held my hand and we walked towards the front entrance.
"W-we're going home?" I asked.
"Yes, Gerard," my dad said.
I pouted as we got inside the car.
"Maybe we can go again some other time," Ms. Iero said.
I snuggled up to Mikey's side and he wrapped an arm around me. I played with his fingers on the way home. I spun the ring on his left ring finger and smiled.
"What's this?" I asked.
"It's a promise ring," he said quietly.
"What's that?" I asked.
"It means that Pete and I promised each other we would get married to each other one day," he said.
"With a baby too?" I asked.
"Yeah, we're gonna have a little baby," he said quietly. "I'm gonna get a job so that way I can pay for child support and all that. The baby's gonna live at Pete's house but I'm gonna go over there everyday. And when we're older we're gonna get a house together and get married."
"And live happily ever after?" I asked.
"Yeah, we're gonna live happily ever after," he said.
"M-me and Frankie didn't get our happily ever after," I whimpered.
I burst into tears and Mikey held me tight as I cried.
"What's wrong?" Ms. Iero asked.
"He misses Frank," Mikey said.
I cried into his shoulder as he ran his fingers through my hair.
"I love him so much," I cried.
"I know you do, Gee," he said.
"Why'd he have to died?" I asked.
"It was just an accident, Gee, accidents happen sometimes," he said.
"Was it an accident that I lived with my Mama in our underground house?" I asked.
"No, gee, that wasn't an accident," he said. "That was kidnapping, sweetheart."
"What's kidnapping?" I asked.
"It's when someone is taken when they don't want to be, when they're taken away from their home and their family," Mikey explained.
"That doesn't sound very nice," I said sadly.
"You're right, that isn't nice," he agreed.
"But my Mama was always nice," I said. "She took care of me and loved me."
"I'm sure she did but that doesn't make it good," Mikey said.
I looked down at my tattoo sadly. At least it didn't hurt anymore but Mikey still had to care for it and put lotion and stuff on it. I wish I didn't have it, it just reminded me of how much of a monster I am.
"Am I a monster, Mikey?" I asked.
"No, of course not," Mikey denied.
"Monsters can't go to heaven to become angels," I said.
"Well, it's a good thing you aren't a monster then," Mikey said.
I smiled softly. I'm glad I'm not a monster, now I know I'll be able to go to heaven with Frankie.
