Why Me?

Simone was happy to see me again but a little let down because I didn't have the boys with me. After I slept a bit, I explained to her what I did the night before and why the boys weren't with me. I was starting to talk about the suspicious guy with the omega symbol and she stopped me.

"Wait," she said, "omega symbol? Isn't that like an upside down horse shoe thing?"

I knotted my eyebrows, "That's one way to describe it. Why?"

She ignored my question and stood up, "You said his name was Home, right?"

"Ohm." I corrected and watched as she went to the other room.

I heard shuffling and drawers opening and I was about to ask what she doing until she came back with a...magazine?

She opened it up to a certain page, then set it in front of me. Organized pictures of people side by side made me realize it was a yearbook.

"I used to go to school with this one guy that never exactly fit into a group. I mean there was a lot of people like that, but this guy was the weirdest." She explained, trying to find his picture again, "His last name was Ohm-I always thought it was Home-and he had an obsession with the omega symbol."

She dragged her finger on the fine paper and eventually stopped on one someone. He had somewhat dark, brown hair and eyes to match. His skin wasn't pale, but it wasn't exactly tan either. He was smiling in the picture, but he looked so worried. His senior quote was literally: "Ω".

I looked at his name, "Ryan?"

She nodded and sat back down, "He wasn't smart enough for the nerds nor was he sporty enough for the jocks."

I looked at everyone else's and noticed most of the faces looked familiar. I raised an eyebrow and back tracked in the book. I got to the freshman section and stopped.

"I went to school with him?" I asked myself, very surprised.

Simone looked at my picture, "You went to school with all of us?"

I looked at her, "Us?"

She nodded and turned to more pages, pointing out Marcel, Craig, and Tyler. She was about to turn the page, but I stopped her and pointed at a picture of a person that looked really familiar. I read the name and widened my eyes, "I went to school with Bat Owl too?"

I slid the book closer to me and started flipping through the pages, seeing familiar faces and spotting the other heroes. I told her all about my encounter them and what they said already so I just pointed out who they were and what they looked like now.

"Oh my god," Simone said and I looked at her, "I remember you now, you were in the robotics club."

I scrunched up my face, closed my eyes, and tried to remember.

Good god I was a nerd. If I wasn't in class, I'd be building something in the robotics room. Building was always my passion so when I first joined, I took it seriously and that attitude never changed.

I remember walking in one day and this guy was trying to convince the director of the club to let him in. He just wouldn't let the subject go.

The team and I finally had enough so we all shooed him out. The main thing I remember about him though was the scar on the back of his ear.

I opened my eyes and looked at Simone, "Did he have a sca-"

"A scar on the back of his ear?" She finished my question, "Yeah. He refused to tell anyone about it too."

I sat there and thought for a minute, thinking about all the information that I just gained. "So why did he want to heroes and the villains?" I asked myself.

"In my opinion," Simone said, "I think he's just holding a grudge. Back in high school, him and Jon would some times be seen together, but not very long. He was always trying to change himself to fit in a group of friends, but it never worked because it wasn't him."

"But what did Marcel and them do to him?" I asked.

"When Marcel and Tyler first met Craig, they wanted him to pull a prank so he could prove that he's cool or whatever." She said, "Craig chose him as a target."

I shook my head and rolled my eyes, "Idiots."

"You're dating one." She laughed.

"So are you." I giggled. But then I cleared my throat and said, "Batccoon said they only take down gangs though."

She shrugged, "I don't know if you noticed, Y/n, but he heroes aren't a gang."

I nodded and whispered, "But it was so long ago."

"Craig did it when Marcel and I first started dating." She added, "I kept an eye on the kid since then because he was always glaring at them, as if studying their moves."

I pointed to her laptop and asked if I could borrow it. She said yes so I logged on and looked up in solved murders in Los Santos and quite a few came up, but most of them were groups of people with tattoos that matched so anyone could acknowledge that they were in a gang together. I looked at the names and most of them were the same as the ones in the year book. All the deaths were basically starvation and/or dehydration and all the bodies were found in abandoned warehouses.

"Simone, I think he's targeting people that went to the high school and did him wrong." I said.

I heard her sniffle and I looked at her. She was about to cry and I said, "What's wrong?"

"He clearly doesn't spare people so what make you think he'll spare they boys." She sobbed.

I hugged her and after a while of her crying on my shoulder, I said, "Dead or alive, I'll make sure he's taken down."

She pulled away and looked at the clock, "It's almost time for the street lights to come on." She turned to me and said, "Please be careful. I don't want this," she pointed to the computer, "happing to you because as far as I know, you're all I have left."

We stood up and I hugged her again, "I'll try."

We pulled away and I started suiting up by hiding gadgets anywhere and everywhere on me. I looked at Simone as I was walking out the door.

"I-If Marcel is still..." she cried, not being able to finish her sentence.

"Of course." I said, knowing what she wanted me to do.

I walked out, not being able to look at her like this anymore. It made me want to cry and right now I'm on a mission and I can't be thinking about things like that or I'll get distracted.

I let out a forced breath as I got in my car. It stopped raining, but the weather still wasn't in my favor. I bit my tongue and started the car, driving to the pier.

~

I parked in the parking lot of a tiny convenance store and got out of the car. I was a little too far away from the warehouse, but I don't know if they know my car or not so I got close enough so I can see them but they can't see me.

I checked around me to see prostitutes, drug dealers, and drunks walking around. I walked to the warehouse inconspicuously within around ten minutes. I took a deep breath and repeated what I did before and went into an alley close to the warehouse and hid so I could check my watch. There were eight people in the warehouse. Five were spread out and three were huddled up against the wall, kind of like before.

I checked my math and thought about how Jon said there were six guys. B.R.I.A.N.'s a robot, so he doesn't have body heat that my watch can detect, but last time I checked, 3 + 6 = 9.

I counted more than enough times to realize that there was no way nine people were in there. I didn't know how to react; one's either not there or not there yet.

I bit my lip and shook my head. I walked down the ally that led straight to the warehouse. I looked at their cars parked by the pier and noticed how many people where just standing around them. I licked my teeth and readjusted my watch so I could shoot a small bomb at it. I never tried this out, but I made sure it wouldn't fail by ejecting other small items out of it.

Anyway, I pointed it at the white car that the 407 guy, or possibly Scotty, was driving. I took a deep breath and made sure the people around it weren't too close to it. I shot it and it landed on the car right where I wanted it and in almost immediately went off. I hid in the shadows again as people screamed and ran away. I checked my watched and three of the guys went outside to check it out.

"Are you fucking kidding me!" I heard someone scream. I looked up at the ball of flames that used to be a car and saw the 407 losing his shit. Him screaming made me want to clear my throat.

The panda guy, or Anthony, and the guy with the paper bag over his head stood there looking at all the people that ran away.

I only stayed long enough to watch them split up and run at different groups of people that ran away from the car. I took it as my chance to run to the abandoned building. I stopped at the fire escape staircase and made sure the cost was clear before I quickly, but quietly ran up them.

I got to the top and opened a window. I crawled through and landed on a catwalk, above everything. I crept across far enough to where I could see everything.

Two guys were talking while four shadows sat against the wall. I studying to two talking. One was blonde and had very bright blue eyes. How did I see them from here? I don't know. He didn't really have anything special on nor did he look very badass, but he was pretty tall. Where I was, it didn't look like he had any muscles. The other one, however, obviously did. He had a semi-long brown bread that blended in with his hair. He was taller than the other guy but only by about two inches.

I tried to match their voices with the one that called me from B.R.I.A.N.'s head chip, but neither of them really matched. The blonde guy had an average voice; not too high, not too low. The other one had a higher voice, but not exactly high enough to identify him with I high voice. He also had a slight southern accent, kind of like Jon. Neither of them were the deep voiced male that called me before.

I wanted to growl, but I stayed quite. I looked around and saw stairs leading to the main floor. I silently breathed as I took out my tranquilizer and shot them both in the ass. I only have one more dart, so I wasn't gonna shoot another one.

They both became drossy and soon fell forward. I checked the area around and didn't see the other three coming back anytime soon so I ran to the stairs and slid to the figures on the floor.

I heard mumbled cheers and say they were my boys when my eyes adjusted to the darkness. I smiled from ear to ear and ripped off their duck tape. The started to continuously say thank you as I pulled out my knife and cut the rope that held them together.

I pulled by Tyler into a hug and he said, "I love you so fucking much, you don't understand."

I giggled and pecked his lips, slightly regretting it due to the nasty taste and breath. I made the others join our hug and we sat there for a moment. This left like home to me.

I stood up, "Come on, I don't know how long until the others get back."

They nodded and tried to get up. B.R.I.A.N. was the only one who was able to do it on the first try. As he came more into the light, I noticed that a quarter of his face was gone and there was a hole straight to where his secret chip was at. I grabbed his face and whined, "No..."

He smiled and grabbed my hand, "I'm fine. Don't worry."

"You're not damaged?" I asked as I hugged him.

His smiled only got bigger, "Nope. Now that you're here, I feel whole."

I grinned and pulled away. I looked at the others and they were finally ready. Their facial hair was sloppily cut, like someone else did it.

I shook off the thought and I lead them through the same path I came in. We got to the ally way and I made them stop.

"Y/n," Marcel said, "did you seriously blow up one of their cars?"

I looked at him and said, "Surprised you didn't." He chuckled and I made sure the cost was clear. "Okay, the car is a bit far, so we're going to have to run."

"Y/N, we can barely walk." Craig complained.

I looked at him, "I'm not leaving you guys so you're going to have to run with me."

"Or," Tyler said, "We could go through the allies till we get far enough away from the warehouse."

"Fine, just move." I ordered and they listened. I hustled down the alleyways as fast as we could. We got to the block across the street from the store I have my car parked at. I looked at them, "Now you actually need to run. Two of the guys ran this way and they might be on their way back now."

They nodded, understanding that this literally might be the only choice they had. I checked around the corners and signaled them to start running. They did, but sloppily. B.R.I.A.N. was the first to the car so he helped them all inside of it. I then took my turn and ran to the car. I got there and opened the driver door but everything stopped when I felt unbearable pain spread from my back to my stomach.

I physically felt the objet pierce through my body, burning me on its way.

I was paralyzed, all I could do was stand and stare at noting as my vision got worst and worst.

I finally fell forward and hit the roof of the car, soon sliding off and onto the drivers seat. I looked to see blurry figures moving around like crazy. I blinks a few times and saw Marcel and remembered what Simone wanted.

"M-Marcel..." I stuttered, trying to put possibly my last words together, "S-S....Simone said sh-she love-ves you..."

Then I closed my eyes. If you think that that was a cute because that was the last thing I thought about before I died, you're wrong because in all honesty, the last thing on my mind before I left the world was: Why me?
