Did You Actually Think You Were Going to Get Away with This?
The longer I stayed here, the longer I realized Luke was right. It was small things at first like having six toothbrushes, not seven and I didn't have a hairbrush or a makeup bag (if you wear makeup). But then it turned to not having seven seats at the table and not having pads/tampons.
Everyone knew that I knew something was wrong, except Ryan. He still acts like I'm oblivious to all the mistakes. I would ask about something and he'd make up an excuse that made no sense. For example, when I asked why there were only six toothbrushes, he said one fell in the toilet the other day, yet no one replaced it.
I've been here for about a mouth and I really want to leave. Ryan's been coming into my room unannounced and asking me if I've been on the computer at all. I always respond no and he logs on and checks the history anyway. Once he saw nothing was on it, he'd just grumble, stomp out, and slam the door behind him. Luke said I was good with computers, but I probably won't remember anything.
The others aren't that bad. I'm close with Bryce and Luke and get along with the others really well, but Ryan treats like more of an object. Like he keeps moving me around, trying to get to a place where I can fit.
That's another thing, I haven't left this house. Ryan says I should regain my memory here before I go out and regain the rest. Yeah, I still don't remember anything. Great to be in my situation, right?
I sighed as I sat on the sink in the bathroom. I looked at the wrap around me and waited for Scotty to come into the bathroom to rewrap it. My wound is getting a lot better, but I still need to have the wrap on it because I constantly bump into corners and walls.
I've been in this house for a month, and I still don't know where all the rooms lead to, nor can I seem to remember the layout.
Scotty walked in with a big smile on his face, "Sorry, I was on the phone with Chrissy."
I smiled and wiggled my eyebrows and shoulders, "Ooh, who's Chrissy.~"
He chuckled, "My girlfriend. She's finally coming back from vacation and I'm so happy."
"Is she coming here?" I asked.
"Yeah," he answered as he got everything ready, "she likes coming here and talking to everyone."
I knew it was a stretch, but I asked, "Does she know me?"
He shook his head but stopped and looked at me. We had a staring contest and then he said, "How long have you known?"
I sighed, "I still can't remember anything, but Luke told me and simple mistakes around the house point out that clearly there were not seven people living here."
He sighed and leaned on the counter, "Ryan can't kn-"
"Ryan can't know," I said, "I know this."
"But you still don't remember anything?" He asked.
I shook my head, "Nope."
He sighed. He looked away, clearly not knowing what to do. "I don't know what to do. Ryan really wants you here but you already know what's going on." He said.
"Actually, I don't." I answered, "I just know something's wrong here. I have no idea why I'm here or why I can't seem to remember anything useful."
"Well you're here because Ryan wants you in the group, but you clearly don't want to be."
"Seems like no one else wants me to be in it either." I chuckled.
"Don't take it the wrong way," He said, "I'm glad we're friends and all, but I really like our group the way it is."
I nodded and laughed, "I understand. Luke said I was a part of another group too but I don't remember it. Apparently I built a robot too or whatever."
He laughed and mocked, "I just took two years to build one of the greatest pieces of machinery known to mankind, no biggy."
We laughed and I said, "Wait, did I actually build a robot?"
He nodded, "And he's fucking amazing. You're smart, N/N."
I knotted my eyebrows, "Why'd you call me that?"
He looked at me confused, but then realized I had no idea what he was talking about and said, "That was your nickname for when you guys were doing stuff. Like if you guys were robbing a bank, your partners would yell out 'N/n' instead of 'Y/n'."
I made and ooh face as he started to cut off the old wrap. As he was doing it, I said, "Why did Ryan shoot me?"
He sighed, but didn't stop, "In all honesty, in still trying to figure that out. I don't know why he would shoot you if he wanted you on the team so badly." I groaned and then he laughed, "I'll tell you one thing though, that night he shot you, I really wanted to shoot you too."
"Why?" I laughed.
"Because you blew up my car!" He exclaimed.
We laughed and I said, "Are you serious?" He nodded and laughed, making me laugh harder, "I'm so sorry."
After our laughter died down, I looked at the wall of windows in the kitchen. Everyone else went to the store so it was just me and Scotty.
"What are you looking at?" He asked and followed my eyes to the window.
"Just spacing out." I said. He turned to me and stared at me, waiting for me to say something different. I sighed and said, "Can I leave? Like can I go out and actually figure out...everything?"
He sighed, "I wish I could. Believe me, I do want you to be able to go back to your life, but I can't let down Ryan."
I nodded, but then something came to me, "I want to leave tonight."
"Y/n-"
"No, I don't want you guys to act like you knew anything about it an-"
"Y/n, Ryan will hunt you down." He protested, "Plus if you can't remember anything, how do you know where you're going?"
I was going to say my memory might come back to me as I walk down the streets, but I don't know where streets lead so I could walk straight into traffic and not realize it till I get hit by a car. I sighed and looked away, wanting to let the subject go.
"We might be able to convince Ryan to let you go out with us and just drive around the city." He said.
"Scotty, if I get my memory back while we're out, I'll remember everything so if Ryan did something like, I don't know, shoot me, then I might lose my shit." I explained.
He nodded, "I'm sorry."
I shrugged, "Don't be. It's probably the only way I can actually get out of here, but he's not going to let me out."
He stared at me for a while, then started wrapping me up in the wrap again. I could tell he had questions on his mind, but we both knew that I probably wasn't going to be able to answer them.
His finished and we walked out the bathroom. As if on cue, everyone else came through the door with sacks of groceries.
Anthony came in last with the most groceries. "Anthony, you went into the store?" I asked. He has this thing we're he messes with the displays and knocks shit over without picking it back up.
He laughed, "Nope, stayed in the car."
We all laughed and Ryan looked at me and asked, "So what'd you guys do while we were gone."
I shrugged, "Nothing really."
"I talked to Chrissy!" Scotty said, getting all giddy.
They started talking but my attention went to mumbling. I knotted my eyebrows as I looked and saw they were all in a conversation with each other and no one was out and just talking to themselves. I looked around but didn't see anyone or anything that was making that noise.
"Y/n?" David asked. I didn't looked at him, but I didn't turn. It sounded like it was coming from the front door. "Is everything okay?"
"Do you hear that?" I asked in a whisper.
They didn't answer but the room fell silent. That's when they walked to me and looked at the door with me.
"I don't he-"
We went silent again when the door was completely kicked down. I jumped and yelped like everyone else. Someone grabbed my shoulders and hid me behind him to the island.
"Get in the cabinet." Ryan said and quickly turned back around.
I opened a cabinet, pulled out all the pans from it, and crawled in. I closed the door as quietly as I could and hugged my knees to my chest. I have no idea what's going on, and I don't want to get hurt.
"Where the fuck is she?" Someone...familiar said.
I sat up at the voice, wondering why it was so familiar and trying to figure out where I heard it before.
"Who?" Ryan asked, acting like he wasn't scared.
"I'm not here to play you're fucking games!" Another person who also sounded familiar said, "Where the fuck is she?"
"Gentlemen, please," Ryan said and then there were footsteps, "there's no need for guns."
Guns? What the fuck is going on? I breathing hitched as glass broke. I automatically knew it was the wall of glass in the kitchen.
"Where is she, Luke?" Someone said. Why do all these voices sound so familiar?
"Luke, keep your mouth shut." Ryan ordered.
"Luke!" The guy said again. Who are you and why do you sound so familiar?
There was a long pause of silence and that's when my mind was just set back.
I woke up in the hospital bed and saw the heroes and villains around me. I took a deep breath and tried to move but it didn't work.
"How do you feel, Y/n?" My loving boyfriend, Tyler asked.
After me just looking at him, my two best friends, Craig and Marcel, laughed and said, "She's lucky to be alive, giver her a awhile before she starts talking again."
I looked over and saw my greatest creation and my closest friend/robot, B.R.I.A.N.. He had a bandage around his head so half of his face could stay were it's supposed to be. He smiled brightly and sweetly said, "You look really stupid in that gown."
"B.R.I.A.N.!" The whole room yelled at him.
"What?" He asked, clearly not understanding human sympathy.
I smiled and turned to the heroes, waiting for their explanation to be here.
"We just wanted to say thank you for everything really." Evan stepped up and said.
Brock nodded, "My wife and I are very thankful for your actions."
The other two nodded in agreement. When they were cleaned up and had decent clothes on, they didn't look half bad.
I nudged my head as in to signify that I said "it was no big deal."
Suddenly, the door opened and a nurse popped her head in, "I know she just woke up, and I'm very sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you gentlemen to leave so I can clean her up."
The nodded in understanding and started to leave. Tyler leaned down and kissed my forehead before heading out. She walked in and started taking off my covers and cleaning me with wipes.
I eventually was able to talk and asked her what happened and she explained that I got shot and was very lucky to live. I thanked her when she was done and waited for my boys to come back. But it never happened due to my window being smashed open. A man in a bunny outfit ran to me and he had a syringe. I couldn't move, but the last thing I left was a small pinch on my neck.
I snapped back to reality and realized the situation and who all was in the room. I growled lowly and opened the cabinet, very quietly. They were talking, but I was focused on the task at hand. I crawled out and grabbed a pan from when I pulled them out and looked at Ryan.
He was right in front of me and no one noticed that I was out of my hiding spot. I stood up fast and swung the pan as hard as I could at his face and the next thing anyone knew, he was knocked the fuck out on the ground.
I then left the pain of me twisting my body so I could hit him, so I set the pan on the table and screamed, "Ow!"
I grabbed my back and front as people cheered for me. I looked at the "Rejects" and Luke pointed at the cabinet and said, "When the fuck did you get in there?"
I groaned and said, "Ryan told me to when the door was kicked in."
I looked at the door and saw my boy just standing there, not sure what to do. I glanced at the window and saw the heroes, but my attention fell right back to what I thought was home.
"Ya'll just gonna stand there," I said to them, "or come over her so I can hug you because I clearly shouldn't have done that."
They smiled and jogged to me, gently hugging me due to my wound. I smiled as I got to finally enjoy a moment with my boys.
"You finally remember!" Bryce exclaimed.
"Why are you so happy about that?" Bat Owl or Evan said.
I finally got a good look at them and they still didn't have masks. They had on their uniforms, but that was it.
Bryce quickly explained that Ryan was the only person who really wanted another member and that they've been trying to make me remember for so long.
"How'd you find me?" I asked. Everyone looked at Batccoon or Jon.
He looked at Luke, "I'm sorry."
He shrugged it off and walked to him, putting his arm over his shoulder. "I understand. Sorry I didn't tell you were she was at first."
He looked at the unconscious male on the ground and said, "I know."
"Can someone explain to me why literally none of you have kicked his ass before?" I asked. Everyone shrugged and I mocked them, "What does this mean?"
"He's ruthless." Marcel answered, "He just wouldn't fucking stop."
"You know how he continued to lie to you and act like you did live here." Anthony said and I nodded, "He doesn't that with everything. He won't stop till he gets his way, even if it kills him."
I looked at him and thought about that.
"What do we do now?" David asked, looking at his partners.
They all looked at their leader and sighed. Then they all trumped to Luke. He felt their eyes and looked at them.
"What?" He asked.
"You're the one with the ideas." Scotty said.
He sighed and looked at his leader. He looked up at his friends and said, "I quit. I'm done hurting people because I was scared of what this motherfucker holds grudges."
They were all silent for a second and Anthony walks over to him and Jon. "I like that idea."
Scotty was second to join the group and said, "Best one yet."
David laughed and said, "Finally, no more."
Everyone's attention went to Bryce. He clearly didn't want to leave his best friend, but he hated this job so much. He looked at them and said, "But...Ryan."
"We're not going to stop talking to him," David clarified, "we're just done working for him."
He looked at his friend on the ground and smiled, walking over to the rest of his friends, "We should talk to him about how he treats everyone."
"Are you always this innocent?" Craig asked, making the room laugh. "He did that to us too when we were in the warehouse, he was just so nice."
I looked at Tyler and said, "Can we leave now?"
He nodded and grabbed me, putting me on his back. We all walked out the front door and he lead me to his car. We got in and we looked at the heroes and the former rejects.
We pulled out of the driveway and waved at them as we left. I grabbed Tyler's hand and said, "I love you."
He looked at me and kissed me, "I love you more."
I looked at my friends and said, "I love you guys too but not the same way."
They laughed and said, "We love you too, Y/n."
