Rinbo
"It's morning get up!" I heard a voice yell next to me.
My eyes blinked open. It was completely dark.
"You still aren't up yet." Clarified the voice which I recognized as Lukkas'.
"I know. Goway."
"Come on I want to hang out with you. Please?" He pleaded.
"Fine. But just this once." I sat up in bed. I was still wearing the tank top from the night before, but I didn't really care.
"Awesome." He mutyered, pulling me up. I saw the scar on his forehead glint in the sliver of light from there door. It was just like mine.
"Come on."
We walked out of the room, heading left to the doors outside.
"I found something." He pushed open the metal doors. I squinted to see. "You'll love it."
"Alright, but this better not be a joke."
We headed towards a cluster of trees. After a few minutes of walking, we stopped.
"What is it?" I asked.
Next to I felt Lukkas' arms move to his mouth. He whistled loudly, watching around us.
I stayed completely still, not sure what was going on.
A huge black shape loomed towards us. It jumped up, two arm like things sticking out. They hit my chest and I fell backwards.
I heard a laugh as the creature put all its weight in me. It started to Bit me with something wet, all over my face.
"Hey, alright boy, get off her." Lukkas said, pulling the thing away as I sat up.
"What was that?" I painted heavily.
"I don't know what it's called but it's adorable isn't it?" Lukkas cooed, rubbing it's neck.
I peered at the black mass in front of me. It was huge. Sitting it was maybe three feet tall. There was a tongue hanging out of its mouth and two floppy ears hung by its head. A tail flopped around happily behind it.
"Is it safe?" I asked.
"If course," Lukkas replied, eyes still on it. "He wouldn't hurt anyone."
I reached out a hand cautiously. The thing sniffed it then stuck out its tongue. I laughed, scratching its head.
"He needs a name." I decided.
"Okay." Lukkas agreed. "But you choose."
"Rinbo." I said after a minute.
Lukkas looked at me curiously then his eyes showed enlightenment.
"Rinbo. It uses the same letters as..." He trailed off.
"Yeah." I sighed, feeling a pang of sorrow. Rinbo locked my chin and I smiled.
"Should we tell the others?" Lukkas asked, scratching Rinbo's ear.
"Not yet." I murmered. "They might be scared of him. And he still could be dangerous."
"I guess that's true." Lukkas sighed. "Want to head back?"
"Yeah." I stood.
"You can go buddy." Lukkas pointed back into the woods. Rinbo looked that direction, then nuzzled Lukkas one last time before running off.
We got back around daybreak, heading inside to meet the others.
"Where have you two been?" Chad asked as we entered, lifting his eyebrows.
"Archery range."
"Cafeteria."
"Uh huh." He said with a serious nod. "Either way sounds like you were having fun."
"I swear Chad one of these days..." I muttered.
"Just a joke!" He protested as Lukkas threw a shirt at him, covering his face.
"Well. Your face is a joke." Sky laughed behind him.
Rolling his eyes Chad pulled the short off. "So when I do something hilarious no one laughs but if anyone else does anything remotely funny, the entire world is on their knees?"
"He figured it out!" Lila gasped, putting a hand over her mouth.
"Everyone shut up and come on," Corwin's face appeared in the doorway. His eyes were droopy and it looked like he hadn't slept much over the last few days. "I have an assignment for you."
"What does he mean, assighnment?" Lukkas muttered next to me.
I shrugged, following Corwin out the door. We headed silently out the back doors, into the daylight.
"Base is over here." He instructed, showing us around the side of the building to a tiny bunker.
"How come you didn't show us this before?" Sky asked.
"We didn't need to." Corwin said simply as the eight of us squished into the tiny compartment.
"Grab the railings." Corwin mumbled, messing with a control panel on the wall.
I gripped the tiny metal rings that went around the room.
"Starting countdown... One hundred, ninety-nine... What? I was kidding." Corwin grinned, seeing our annoyed looks. "Fine. Three two one go." He rambled quickly.
I felt my stomach drop out of me, when he said go. The floor dropped down, and I could see lights rushing by. The floor which had disconnected with the bunker slowed to a halt.
We stumbled off as the ground swayed beneath our feet.
"Welcome to the base." Corwin said, lamely throwing his arms wide.
It was a large room with high ceilings. There were rows of walls and counters, where various people were working. Everything looked sterilized and clean.
"Wow. Cool man cave." Chad joked, using an old fairy tale setting.
"Not really a man cave, but whatever." Corwin shrugged. "Over here." He pushed open a door labeled 'Dynamic Strategies'.
The door opened into a cramped office with a desk and chair pushed up against one side of the room, facing a wall of moniters.
"Dr. Williams? Hello?" Corwin said, striding in.
"Hello everyone!" Popped up a small head. It belonged to a girl who couldn't have been older than twelve. There were goggles covering her eyes and she was wearing a lab coat.
"Show them the mission plan."
"Plan J?" She asked confused.
"No. Plan M." Corwin corrected. "The break in plan."
"Alright, plan M." Dr. Williams said, turning on moniters.
A large map of the acounting district popped up. "This is where the target lives."
"Who's the target?" Lila asked immediately.
"No one in particular."
"You can't know!"
"Shhh, just keep explaining." Scolded Corwin, giving up an apologetic grin.
"So, Lukkas, Chad, and Zoe will go retrieve him at precisly 1:00 am, two days from today. Rain will drive them all back in this jeep, that will remain here." Dr. Williams pointed to a black rectangle just outside the Gates.
"Questions?" She asked.
"That's it?" Zoe asked, incredulous. "What do the rest of us do?"
"We need to do testing on your brains." Corwin explained.
"Not bad testing." Dr. Williams said hurridly. "Just scans to see how you think differently from us. It's completely safe and will further our research."
"Alright." She sighed, looking hesitant.
"We will get you further information later." Corwin said, ushering us out.
"Woah, why didn't you explain this earlier, it literally would've take two minutes!" Chad protested over his shouler.
"Had to show you the lab real quick, no go I need to talk to Dr. Williams."
. . .
"I let them get away." The older woman groaned, surrounded by her work papers. "What if they find out?"
"They won't. And if they do, there's always the backup." The girl explained, bored.
"I can't use anyone, it has to be them. It must be them." She nervously ran her fingers through her hair.
"With all due repsect, you're over thinking. You forgot, we have an advantage. We have the trump card as they used to say." The younger girl assured, flicking a small photo into the elder woman's desk.
She picked it up, eyeing it caustiously, relization suddenly sweeping her face.
"Of course." She said softly. "You're brilliant Ally."
"I know. Should I send our troops to find him?" She responded.
"Immidiatly. Don't be afraid to rough him up, it's going to happen anyways."
"Yes ma'am." Ally responded leaving the room to find Robin Thomas.
Alright so remember how I said there would be drama next chapter well my bad forgots bout that, but no worries, I set up for it, trust me.
In the mean time, did you know I can throw cards? Only reason I'm thinking about this is because I refrenced a trump card, which comes from my second favorite card game, Rook. "Number one is James Bond.)
Anywhom, I can throw card and that's cool. Yeah man, look at me super chill and lit and savage as the cool cats be sayin all up in here.
But if you were wondering what kind of cats I have, she is invisible. Also, Isn't Rinbo flipping awesome?!? For any of those curious minds, Rinbo is obviously a dog, and a black lab.
Also, I forgot, but the scar that Quinn, Lukkas, Lila, and Rain have on their foreheads looks like a lowercase 't', that someone decided needed to be an uppercase (uppercase? Shoot, capital. Capital case.) 'T', so the top horizontal line is added. Nevermind, it looks like this:
Dang I got those art skills man.
