Prologue
Harry, Ron and Hermione stood in a tight circle. Hidden away in a forgotten classroom. It had been a few hours since everything had finally ended. They were able to sneak away once families arrived for the remaining students. Harry had first seen to it that Voldemort's body had been carted off. He wasn't sure what his remaining followers would do with it, but he still didn't want to risk anything. Then the three hero's snuck off to an unimportant wing of the castle.
"You sure you want to do this?" Ron asked, "I mean, it's the elder wand."
Harry shook his head, "Yea. And people have been killing then selves for it since it was created. I want that legacy to die with me."
Hermione and Ron shared a look but didn't say anymore. They took a step back, their fingers laced together tightly.
Harry set his broken wand on the desk closest to him. He pointed the elder wand at the pieces and whispered, "Repairo."
On its own the wand began to fix itself. The splintered wood reaching for the other half. Pulling itself close, hiding the phoenix feather that had previously been the only thing keeping the wand in once piece. Harry watched until there was no more evidence the wand had ever been broken. He picked it up, studying it for a moment.
"Accio." He pointed the wand, a story book that had been left in the floor in the hall came wizzing to Harry's hand.
Harry smiled, looking back at his friends. It had felt like a piece of himself had returned. As if his hand had been cut off and then put back on.
"What are you going to do with the elder wand?" Hermione asked, smiling too, "Are you going to hide it? Put it in Gringotts?"
"Gringotts isn't as unbreakable as it thinks it is." Harry shook his head, the three of them shared another smile, "I'm going to put it somewhere no one will find it. Somewhere that doesn't matter."
"Where's that?" Ron asked.
Harry turned for the doorway, "The Forbidden Forest. I'm going to burry it deep in the forties where no one will ever be able to start this wands legacy back up again."
The other two moved to follow Harry. But no sooner than when Harry's foot made it out of the door did they find themselves in the Hogwarts courtyard. No longer filled with rubble and a mix of people both grieving and celebrating. The courtyard was empty save for the three hero's.
"What just happened?" Ron looked around, "Did you apperate us?"
"No." Harry frowned, looking at the castle. There was nothing to suggest there had just been a massive battle of good and evil.
Hermione pursed her lips, "Everything's different." She muttered, looking at the boys, "This doesn't make any sense."
Before either boy could respond, they heard a small voice behind them.
"Who are you?" It squeaked
They turned around, Ron's jaw dropped. Hermione clasped her mouth while Harry stared blankly.
Standing before them was an eleven year old Neville Longbottom.
