It was crazy to believe that Hershel was the one who needed our medical care all the time. It was crazier to believe that he only had one leg now. It put into perspective what the apocalypse is actually like. What damage these things could do. Today I decided that I would spend time with Grace. She was my only true family here and I needed to make sure she was ok. If she wasn't then I would have to find a way to help her but it's hard to help in times like these. "Y/n, how do we know that things like that won't happen to us one day?" She asked me as I sat on her bed and I looked at her.

"We don't but, as long as you've got me. We won't need to worry that much. Yes, we'll have near misses like that but I'll protect you." I said to her and she looked up at me.

"You mean that." She said to me like she didn't this I was telling her the truth.

"Of course I do, it's the two of us between the world. We're the last two left in our family and we will always be there together." I said to her but I could make a promise I couldn't keep who knew what would happen to her. More importantly, what if one of us had to put an end to each other. What would that do for the other one. I'm not thinking about that, we're not there.

"You promise that you'll never leave me?" She said to me and I looked at her. How do I say I promise but don't know.

"I do promise besides I'll only do what's best in your interest." I said to her and that's when she'd probably think too much about it. I saw Daryl appear on our door way.

"Do you girls need anything? Any food?" He asked me and I looked at Grace I was fine. I didn't need anything at all.

"I'll take some bread or something." She said to him and then he turned his focus on me.

"Y/n, do you want anything?" He asked me and I shook my head at him. I didn't need anything at all.

"I don't need anything. I'll be fine but thank you." I said to him and he nodded before disappearing out.

"What happens if the prison gets overrun?" She asked me and those were questions that we didn't need answering at the time. We didn't even need these kinds of questions at this time.

"If that happens. Which wouldn't be for a while at least, we'd find somewhere else. A new home.  Yes we'd be on the road for a while but we'd have everyone and more importantly. We'd have each other." I said to her and I was starting to feel like I wasn't being too helpful. These were questions that I'd never want to hear. Things that I never needed to have thoughts about. If this was still the real world, who would tell their sister about the whole world going to shit and being apocalyptic.

"I guess if I do have you still that's all that I'll need to help me through whatever." she said to me and she was right. We wouldn't need anyone else as long as the two of us were together.

"Girls. Here you go and Y/n, I couldn't let you go without anything." Daryl said as he handed Grace some bread and me and apple.

"Thank you." I said to him with a smile as I took the Apple from him.

"It's okay Y/n. Now you to get it into you. You'll need it." He said to me and I nodded at him Grace and I continued our conversations. She wanted to come up with a duo name for the two of us.

"Let's just leave it as the Walsh girls. That's all that we need and it's not like people will exactly call us by it." I said to her and she looked at me she was a bit deflated by my answer but she knew that I was right.

"Well that is true, Walsh girls it is." She said to me with a smile and I hugged her. Knowing I had her. My sister and my best friend was the only thing that I would. Just the two of us.
