I woke up with my head on T-Dogs shoulder. I didn't even realise I had fallen asleep, but I guess I did. I could hear Carl talking to his parents I guess I'm not the only one who just woke up. I walked into the room and leaned against the doorframe. "Is he ok?" I asked them half asleep.

"Yeah he's fine why don't you rest. You seem tired." Lori said to me. I nodded and walked back to the couch and rested my head back on T-Dogs shoulder. I knew he wouldn't have minded seeming as he's one of my father figures who is better than my real dad. I shut my eyes and let sleep take over me. Again.

It was the next day and we were having a memorial kind of thing for Otis but I didn't want to go so i stayed with Carl while he was bed bound. "Hey, you feeling ok?" I said as I sat at the end of the bed.

"Yeah, but I could be better." He said I felt bad for him. He has to stare at the ceiling most of the day.

"What's the view of the ceiling like?" I said making us both laugh. We always knew how to cheer each other up.

"It's looking the same as always." He said making us laugh again. We talked for ages until everyone came back inside. I went to leave but as soon as I reached the door I heard Carl say. "Stay." I turned around how could I not stay.

"Fine, but soon I'm gonna leave soon, so I can get washed up." I said to him. We talked for another 10 minutes. "I'll be back in like 20 minutes." I said to him he nodded. I walked out and bumped into Ellie. "Hey, can I borrow some clothes. Mine are back in the R.V where ever that is now." I said to her. She laughed I followed her to her bedroom. She looked through some of her clothes until she picked something out.

"This might fit you." She said to me. She threw me the clothes and I headed to the bathroom to have a shower. I undressed and stepped into the shower. I turned the taps to be met with hot water. I hadn't used hot water since the CDC but that was a while ago now. I stepped out the shower and looked at the clothes Ellie gave me. I liked it.

I walked back to Carl's room he looked bored. "I'm back." I said to him. He gave me the silent treatment. "I wasn't that slow." I said to him he started laughing.

"You took an hour." He said to me. I just laughed.

"Were you timing me?" I said laughing.

"Maybe." He said you can tell we were and always will be best friends. I heard cars pull up outside. I looked out the window and saw a familiar R.V.

"They're here." I said. I ran outside. Grace saw me and we ran over to each other. "I missed you. I was so worried last night." I said hugging her.

"I missed you too. How's Carl?" She asked me. Not are you ok? Or maybe did you sleep ok?

"He's better than before at least." I said to her. "Is my bag still in the R.V?" I asked her.

"It should be exactly where you left it." She said. I nodded.

"Ok I'll see you soon." I said to her letting go of the hug. I ran to the R.V. I walked in and picked my bag up everything was still in there. I walked back to the house and saw Ellie. "Thanks for letting me borrow some of your clothes. My sister is here if you want to meet her." I said to Ellie.

"Sure and no worries." She said to me I smiled and nodded. I saw that Grace was on the porch.

"Grace this is Ellie she was the only person that told me Carl was gonna be ok." I said to her. Grace looked at Ellie and smiled. They introduced themselves and started talking. I left and walked back to Carl's room. "Well if it isn't the boy who lived." I said. He smiled and I sat in the chair next to the bed. "You know it was all my fault you got shot. I don't know how but it was my fault." I said. We shouldn't have walked up to the deer or I should've seen Otis with his hunting rifle.

"It's not yours it's not anyone's." He said to me. I stood up and sat at the foot of the bed. I saw Grace outside the door.

"Am I interrupting anything?" She said with a smirk. Did Ellie tell her about the kiss on the cheek that I gave to Carl. I looked at her with my death stare. "And yes she did tell me." She whispered so only I could hear her. But I guess Carl heard as well.

"What did she tell you?" Carl said to Grace I looked at the ground Grace just laughed at me.

"Well I'm going to talk to Ellie." I said leaving the room to find Ellie. I found her in the kitchen. "Did you tell Grace about me kissing Carl on the cheek?" I whisper yelled at her.

"Yeah, but she said she wouldn't tell anyone." Ellie said. Well I guess she probably had to tell Carl about what happened.

It was later in the day. I saw Daryl leave the R.V. He gave me a slight smile and nodded. I walked to the R.V and saw a pretty flower in there. Carol was sat looking at it. "That's a pretty flower." I said to her she smiled at me.

"Daryl got it. He said it's a Cherokee rose. When they bloom its in hope of finding something so this one is for Sophia." She said to me.

"I wonder if one bloomed for my mom." I said she looked at me.

"Of course one of them did." She said to me. I nodded I had tears in my eyes but I didn't let them fall. I walked back to the house to say goodnight to him, but his dad was in there giving him his Sherriff's hat. I walked outside and headed back to the base camp we made. I felt something go on my head I took it off and looked at it. It was my dad's cap that he got from the Sherriff's Department. I looked up and saw him.

"I thought you could it use now. You make sure that everyone is ok. It's yours now." He said. I smiled and put it back on.

"Can you teach me how to shoot a gun? I mean if I'm gonna try and protect people I'm gonna need a weapon." I said to him he laughed.

"Just stick to your knife for now. I'll teach a few people how to fire a gun when Carl's ready to walk again." He said.

I would finally be able to protect the ones I love from getting hurt.
