Chapter - 6
Nikki's POV
He touched my hand and I pulled away in shock. Not wanting him to touch me. I saw in the corner of my eye his hand just slowly went back to him. He grabbed his bag and got out his books.
I got out my books and waited for instruction from Mr. Collig.
I waited for 10 minutes and Mr. Collig was nowhere to be seen. The class got obnoxious and Bryces friends came up to him and started making stupid jokes. I could feel their eyes on me so I turned my head and saw their scowls boring into me.
I grabbed my phone and put in my earbuds and put on the song Teenage Mind by Tate McRae. I hummed along to the song. I grabbed my bag and my books and moved to the opposite side of the room. Sitting in the open seat right next to Mason Haul. He was a good friend of mine but a HUGE flirt, everyone knew he liked me. But I didn't want to be with Bryce or his friends.
I dropped my books on the desk and put my bag down, looked at him, and smiled.
I felt eyes digging into my skull in anger. Did I forget to mention that Bryce hated him with a burning enraged passion?
I turned my head and saw Bryce's big beautiful eyes staring at me in anger. I just looked at him and turned my head to Mason and smiled again saying hi.
I took my phone out of my pocket and paused my music and took out my earbuds. I looked at Mason again and realized something was different. I looked at his features carefully. His eyes were red but not puffy. He had a goofy smile on his face and I realized what was up. He was high.
"Mason? You okay?" I spoke softly and slowly to make sure he could understand me.
"Yeah, I am super okay." He looked at me, his eyes connecting with mine then looking up and down at my body, staying at my boobs for a moment. "You look stunning today Twix." Twix was my nickname cause it's my favorite chocolate.
"Mason, are you higher than a kite?" I spoke with a small giggle. His eyes went back to mine and smiled even bigger.
"Would you be mad?" He said like a child. His hand reached for my hand that was resting on the table. I grabbed his hand and chuckled again.
"No Macaroon. Don't worry your foggy little head about me being mad."
He laughed, "You used my nickname! I almost forgot about it!" He shouted slightly.
I shushed him and gave him some cinnamon gum to keep him occupied. He smiled at me again and said something I didn't expect.
"Do you maybe wanna get high with me at lunch? I know you only have one class after that and it's an easy class." He smiled at me. "I wanna see your sexy self getting high." He winked at me.
"STOP HITTING ON HER MASON!" I heard a shout ripple through the classroom.
I turned around and saw Bryce red with anger. He got jealous.
"Why do you care?!" I shouted back, "You are the one that left me this morning to cry. Your friends called me a slut and you didn't even fucking defend me, Bryce. You saw me breakdown and cry and you did nothing. And you texted your ex in the first period. You're going out with her tonight oh yeah what's her name again? LUCY. WHY DO YOU CARE!" I felt angered. He was going out with his ex and my friend was just hitting on me and he freaks out! I couldn't believe him. And in the middle of class.
The class fell silent. Someone could breathe and that would pierce the tension that was building.
He stood up and walked over to me. I felt anger radiating off of him. I put my books in my bag and slung it on my shoulders. I looked at Bryce and said one thing, "I never was enough, huh Bryce? Go out with Lucy cause your single now." I walked out with whatever dignity I had left with everyone staring at me. Tears streaming out of my eyes. I held back a sob. I couldn't be broken, not in front of Bryce.
