My Sailor Boy // Whizzvin
A/N I found my old prompt list so the wheel is about to get rolling again.
^^The song makes the whole thing more effective.
Just a small TRIGGER WARNING, nothing graphic just a slight mention of an attempt which doesn't go ahead.
~~Some time in the 1800's~~
Marvin had lost count of how many days he'd been on the boat alone. It could have been week for all he knew. The memories of watching the other crew members around him get captured or slaughtered and seeing his own captain dragged away was something he'd never forget the sounds of. Marvin had been lucky, although some would claim he was a coward instead of lucky. He'd managed to hide in a small area he'd found a few days onto the trip. He could see them, but they couldn't see him. What ever luck had been surrounded him also seemed to convince the attacking to leave the boat floating in the sea for it to wash up somewhere over time.
As the night drew in, Marvin felt his eyelids begin to drop. He'd somehow managed to go a few days without sleep. It was either because he was too scared in case someone else attacked the boat or the fact that whenever he closed his eyes the screams would infest his mind. To try and keep himself awake, Marvin decided to lean against the side of the boat.
The sea was peaceful that night. It rocked the boat at a calm and steady pace and clearly show a reflection of the moon and the stars. The tropical winds gently blew across the ship and lifted up the bottom of Marvin's jacket ever so slightly. Marvin looked at the hat that was tied up the post next to him. It was a hat that had belonged to his captain, he'd found it hidden under a barrel in the captains room. It was one of the few things that wasn't taken and the hat meant a great deal to Marvin. He carefully untied the string and placed the hat on his head. He stood up straight a smiled.
"Only if they could see me now." Marvin said aloud, "Surely this would make them proud of their son."
"I'm sure they would be." A voice said from behind him. "They're son's a captain now."
Marvin whipped his head around. His captain was stood in front of him. Marvin gasped and slowly removed the hat from his head.
"Whizzer..."
"How's the sea treating you now Marvin? I remember when you first set foot on this boat, you threw up whenever a wave hit the boat." The young captain laughed.
Marvin stepped closer to Whizzer and reached out to touch his face, but his hand went straight through him.
"I'm not really here Marvin." Whizzer smiled sadly.
"Is this it? Am I finally going mad?" Marvin panicked.
"No Marvin, I thought you'd listened to at least one of the ghost stories I read to you."
"I usually fell asleep on your shoulder a few sentences in." Marvin admitted as he rubbed the bac of his neck, "You just seemed to have that effect on me."
"I'm so proud of you Marvin. You went through so much in one day, but here you are. Captain of my old ship." Whizzer smiled.
"A captain without a crew."
"But a captain none the less."
"Whizzer I miss you so much. I miss your laugh, your touch. Just everything. It hurt so much to see them take you away. I wanted to help..."
"I'm glad you didn't." Whizzer interjected.
"But you were too young. And here you are hitting me with wise words. it should be the other way around." Marvin sobbed. " I shouldn't have let you go."
"If you did they would've killed you too." Whizzer replied in an attempt to comfort the broken man.
"But at least we would have gone together. And that's all I ever wanted. For us to be together."
"Marvin, you and I both know that as soon as we stepped off this boat we would have to pretended like nothing happened."
"But I would have still ben able to see you. Just being able to look at you and talk to you would have been enough to fuel me for a lifetime." Marvin dried his eyes and stared at Whizzer.
"I know what your thinking Marvin and I will not allow it. I forbid it." Whizzer ordered.
Marvin turned around and faced the edge of the boat, "You can't order me anymore. You aren't my captain." he snapped.
"I still love you Marvin, you're still my sailor boy."
"What are you going to do?" Marvin laughed as he climbed onto the railing that surrounded the boat. "It's not like you can stop me."
Arm wrapped themselves around Marvin's waist and pulled him back onto the flat ground.
"You really don't listen to my stories do you?2 Whizzer laughed.
Marvin span around to face Whizzer again. This time when he reached out he could touch the younger mans face.
"I-I don't, I don't understand." Marvin stuttered.
"Do you not remember me telling you the story of the young woman who's husband had died. He returned to her as a ghost and was able to become a human again for a short amount of time just to hold her again, it's a real thing."
Marvin grabbed onto Whizzer's jacket and pulled him close. He smashed their lips together, never letting got of the latter's jacket. Whizzer wrapped his arms around Marvin's waist and pulled him in closer. They stayed like that until Marvin panicked and pulled away.
"How long?" Marvin asked.
"Till the sun has fully risen." Whizzer smiled and pulled Marvin closer.
The pair stayed close while Marvin sobbed onto Whizzer's shoulder.

The pair stayed in each others embrace the whole time. They sat on the floor and leant against each other. Hand always holding, never separating once. Whizzer told the ghost stories to Marvin he never got to tell. They relived precious memories they had shared while on the boat together. It was just before sunrise when Marvin began to slowly fall asleep.
"Marvin let's get you to bed, you clearly haven't slept in day." Whizzer said as he stood up.
"No!" Marvin yelled as he shot up. He automatically pulled Whizzer back into his grasp. "I don't want to waste another second.
The two young men rested their foreheads together, "I'll wake you before I leave." Whizzer replied.
"Promise?"
"I promise."

When Marvin woke up, he wasn't in the same bed as he had gone to sleep in. He sat up and looked around. He was in his room back home. He quickly left the room and ran down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs stood his parents.
"Marvin, your awake. We were so worried." His mother smiled as she wrapped her arms around him.
"What's going on? How did I get here?" Marvin asked.
"The ship returned with you and one other man just as the sun was fully rising a few months ago. He brought you to us straight away. Said he was the ships old captain but that you were now captain. He told us everything. The attack, the moments you spent together." His mother rambled.
"Son." Marvin's father finally spoke up, "Is this the man you spoke so fondly of before you left?" Marvin nodded his head. His father sighed and pulled his son into a tight hug, "I'm so sorry my boy."
His father stepped away and gave Marvin a box.
" He wanted you to have this." His mother added as she held back her own tears.
In the box was a hat, jacket and a note.
"May I be excused?" Marvin asked as he forced his tears back.
"Take all the time you need my boy." His father smiled and patted Marvin on the back.
Marvin ran back up the stairs and into his room. He immediately put the hat on and wrapped himself in the jacket as if it was a blanket. he pulled out the letter and sat by his window to read it.
My Dear Sailor Boy,
I don't know how long it will be until you read this, but what I do know is that I will be long gone by the time you do read this. I apologise in advance for not waking you like I said I would. I couldn't bring myself to leave you so suddenly again.
I hope you aren't bothered by the fact that I told you parents. But by what I could tell, they have finally got over that so called grudge they held against you. They were more surprised at the fact that I was a dead man walking.
I've left you with my hat and jacket too. I'm guessing that if you're reading this letter, you have them. In one of the jacket pockets you'll find a ring and a small photo of myself, that way I'll be with you at all times. You said that looking at me would last you for a lifetime. I know it isn't me, but they are versions of me. I hope that's enough to keep you going.
Again, I apologise for such a formal tone, I know you hate it when I sound older than you. But it seems that isn't something you have to worry about anymore.
Just so you know I stayed with you until I had to go. I even wrote this letter while I held you close. I didn't want to leave you, but this is one of those things we can't control.
I will never be far and will forever love you my sailor boy, or should I say my captain
Forever yours,
Your Captain Whizzer
