Chapter 3~The Fear of Being Seen
Elsa stood in her room, looking out over the city of Arithmeta (The Capital of Arendelle), and regretting her encounter with Anna. Even nearly a day afterwards, she still wished it had gone differently.
Was she too hard on her? Should she have reached out to her more? No. Elsa had to keep her distance to keep her safe. She had to shut her out. It was the only way.
Wishing she could have a relationship with Anna without hurting her, Elsa reached out and touched the corner of her window, bare handed. The corner immediately froze and she stepped away from it, in fear. Elsa sat on the edge of her bed, in a state of fear, sadness, and mourning.
She was mourning her parents, who were taken from her. She was mourning her childhood, which she was never allowed to finish. She was mourning her relationship with Anna, which she had to end to protect her. She was afraid for the future, so uncertain. She was afraid for her powers, which were like restrains on her. She was sad because she could never tell Anna why.
Tears began trickling down her cheeks. Elsa stood up, closed the curtains, and locked the door. Snow began to flutter down from the ceiling, and Elsa felt a small bit better. She sat just thinking for a bit, and she suddenly didn't feel so bad anymore.
At least Anna was getting married to a good man.
Or, at least she hoped he was a good man. She was going to investigate into this Hans. If Anna couldn't have a good sister, she could at least have a good husband.
Elsa walked back to the defrosting window, thinking about everything that cold corner had been to her. It was a relief, an oppressor, and an expression of her fears. At least no one had seen her freeze it. At least she didn't think anyone had seen her. What about that blonde man with the reindeer. He seemed to be looking right at her when it happened.
She had been seen.
