yeolilgop : the truth

Taehyung's POV

"Taehyung, what's wrong?" Younghee asked me, tapping my shoulder. For a few minutes, we both stood still at the same place looking at Jisoo and my mom.

"Younghee? Why are you with him?" Jisoo asked and we both looked at each other.

"Taehyung," My mom called out and I sighed. I just don't want to speak or talk about anything, I'm just tired.

I looked at Younghee tiredly and she gave me a slight nod which probably means that I should let them come in.

I stepped aside a little in order to make a way for them to come inside.

"P-Please come inside, I'm going to go out so that I won't be disturbing all of you." Younghee bowed, and my mom stopped to look at her.

"It's okay, Younghee ah. Actually, I also have things to tell you." She spoke and we all widened our eyes.

"Neh?" She became puzzled but my mom just smiled. Soon, we all went to the living room and sat down on the couch.

"Taehyung, how have you been?" Mom asked and I let out a sigh. She's worried about me now?

"I'm fine," I replied stiffly and she gave me a weak smile. My heart sank down at the same time because I also miss her. But I just . . .

"Younghee?" My mom called her out and I looked at her.

"N-neh?"

"Thanks for looking after Taehyung," She thanked her and her face looked puzzled again.

"A-Actually, I just-" She stuttered but I cut her off so that she won't feel uncomfortable.

"By the way, why do you want to talk with her?" I asked mom.

"I'm sorry if it will affect you, but the truth is . . ."

"The truth is?" I blurted out.

She cleared her throat. "You have that little scar on your forearm right?"

Wait, what? Why did she know?

"N-neh," Younghee responded while rolling her sleeve up a little which made mom gasped.

"So, it's really true." She said and I frowned.

"Mom, what are you talking about?" The suspense is killing me so I just asked her quickly.

"Taehyung was the one who made that scar," She added and I almost choked on my saliva.

"W-wait me?" I stammered and she nodded. I looked at Younghee whose face is in horror.

We're not related or anything, right?

"Since you were kids, you like to play with each other and you guys often folded stars, airplanes and stuffs. But one day, Taehyung accidentally let the tip of scissors scratch your forearm," She told us and we were all sitting at the same place, dumbfounded.

"B-But how? How are we, I mean-" Younghee tried to ask but failed. "We are not related or anything, right?"

"Yunhee was my best friend," She spoke again and we all remained silent. "We had these unique best friend bracelets since we were young," She held a hand up and showed us the bracelet.

"A few years after Taehyung was born, Yunhee told me that her daughter was also born, and it was you, Younghee." She told us and Younghee's eyes are filled with tears.

"Your dad wasn't planning on giving birth to you so Yunhee and him got into a fight," She continued. "That's when I became unsure of all those things. I don't know why both of you suddenly disappeared. A few days later, I heard that Yunhee drove and fell off a cliff but her body was nowhere to be seen. And I also didn't know where you were, Younghee."

"Taehyung shut himself off completely because he's never seen you anymore, he refused to eat for a lot of days." My mom looked at me and I looked away. Did I do that?

"Later on, I kept in touch with Yunhee's close friend, Bora, which is Jisoo's mom. They visit us occasionally and at that time, Jisoo made Taehyung step into the outside world once again." I looked at Jisoo as she looked at me.

"But that's when I know that Jisoo's dad is your dad, Younghee. He was scared because he isn't supposed to have kid with Yunhee since he already had a kid with Bora."

"Then Younghee and Jisoo are related? Same father but different mothers?" I asked mom and she nodded, crying. I looked at Jisoo whose expression was dumfounded by everything.

I looked at Younghee to see tears rolled down on her face as she stood up.

"I-I'm sorry," She bowed and left the room. I quickly ran after her. She kept running and running until we arrived a park.

"Hey," I grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug. "Just let it all out," I caressed her hair slowly as she kept crying on my chest. I felt a heartache to see her in this state. I tried to control my tears because I can't break down like this. She needs me.

"So .. my whole existence is a mistake right?" She said with her cracked voice and I looked up at the sky to prevent myself from crying.

"Taehyung .. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for existing, I'm sorry for everything." She hugged me tighter as she cried louder.

"Pabo, don't ever say that again." I tried to comfort her as much as I can and I have to be strong in order to protect her.

We sat down on a bench and she seemed to stop crying. She let out a sigh. "Jinjja, I've never thought that it would turn out this way." She stifled a fake laugh.

"It hurts right, Taehyung?" She asked me and I looked at her. "The feelings of being abandoned."

Suddenly, I felt the urge of crying but if I did, there won't be anyone to protect her. I can't break down like this.

Instead, I caressed her hair slowly and smiled. After that, we went to get something to eat though she isn't in the mood to.

"What am I going to do now?" She rested her face on her palms as we sat down at a restaurant.

"Eat this," I placed a spoonful of rice in front of her lips but she shook her head. We have been sitting here for hours now.

I glanced at my wristwatch to see that it's already evening.

"You don't have part-time job today right?" I asked her.

"I don't, ahjumma is on vacation." She replied tiredly.

"Okay, come here. Let me take you somewhere," I grabbed her wrist and went outside the shop.

"Where are we going? My legs hurt." She told me. I bent my knees down in an attempt to piggyback her.

"Come on," I told her and she finally got on my back. She isn't heavy at all.

"Where are we going?" She asked and I smiled.

"Han River," I replied.

Finally, I've arrived there and the clock strikes 8pm. Suddenly, the fireworks started to appear one after another.

"Omo! Taehyung! It's so beautiful!" I felt her pointing at the sky while laughing. I figured she might be okay for now.

"This is so beautiful!" She yelled in excitement moving her legs back and forth. I smiled because she's acting like a kid.

"Ya ya, be careful! I might drop you on the ground, you know." I teased her and she nudged me.

"I know you wouldn't do that," She whispered to my ear and my heart rate increased. "Thanks Taehyung, I love you." I felt her smile against my skin as she gave me a peck on my check.

She said it. This is the first time ever.

sorry for a really lame chapter;; so, if you still don't understand yet about younghee's past, i'm going to tell you.

basically, her dad got married with bora (jisoo's mom) first and had jisoo in bora's tummy for a month. but at that same time, younghee was born and it was a mistake.

so, he gave up on yunhee (younghee's mom) and younghee. yunhee visited taehyung and his mom occassionally but when she knew that she got abandoned, she couldn't accept the truth so she gave the friendship bracelet to younghee and left her at an orphanage because she thought that it would be troublesome for taehyung's mom if she left younghee at her care.
