A Grand Entrance That Involves A Tree

In the mess hall, it was always loud.

Really loud.

With everyone scrambling to get food, get to their table, eat and get out on the grounds before Cubak tears your throat out for being late, we had ourselves a commotion.

I shoved through the frantic people, metal tray in hand, towards my table, where Jez was waiting for me.

There were others at our table, which always happened. There wasn't a lot of room at the camp to accommodate for the one hundred and fifty three campers.

"Hey, Jez." I slid onto the bench, letting my tray drop onto the table.

I recognized the three boys across from us. One was a boy named Ben, who'd only showed up last year, mumbling stuff about his mom dying and remembering everything. Didn't make much sense, but he's alright now. We're sort of friends, and he's around my age.(A/N: you'll get this if you're a supernatural fan)

Next to Ben was a newbie. I could just tell by looking at him. He was introduced as "Kyle" by Cubak yesterday. He only showed up yesterday, looking very shaken up about something. Even now he looks paranoid, jumping at every little sound.

The last one was named Dillion. I knew him. Everyone at camp did. He had been here nine year, and was one of the first campers. There were rumors that he was the last person ever to get out of the camp and return alive, and he had taken out three demons all at once.

I personally think the rumors are crap. He's not all that special. He still has a little trouble shooting his gun. But don't get me wrong, he's a good guy.

"Hey, Alex." Ben gave me a half-smile. I've figured out over the past year that he's not much of a morning person. He's also kind of mysterious. Not a single person knows anything about his past, except for the fact that his mom died, which we got when he was half-delirious in the  first month of being at camp.

A lot of people are secretive, but most spill the beans on their past to at least one person after a year. Jez knows everything about my past, and I know everything about hers. But we keep each other's lives secret. I don't want mine all over camp, and neither does she.

"So," Jez directed towards Kyle, which made him jump. " You ready for your first full day?"

"I guess." He mumbled. Not many new kids felt like opening up. I don't blame them.

"Don't worry, you have to be here for at least six months before they starting pushing you." I smiled.

"Ugh, don't remind me." Ben groaned. "I've been being "pushed" for almost a month. It's not fun."

"Hey, I've been dealing with it for six and a half years!" Jez smiled.

"Woah, don't complain." I grin. "I've got a full year past you."

"I've got all of you beat." Dillion laughs. "Eight and a half!"

Kyle starts to smile a little bit.

"No, but seriously," I say. "You get used to it."

"Good to know." Kyle says.

Jez and I, joined by Ben,  bolt through the campers, getting to the training grounds in record time.

Cubak stood in front of a crowd of ten or so campers, barking out instructions like a drill sergeant.

We all have this strange relationship with Cubak: she pretends to hate us, and we pretend to hate her, but we all know we really love her, and vice-versa.

She finishes yelling at the first ten, and they run off to start the first section of training-running three laps around the whole camp.

"If you wanna' escape them, you gotta' outrun them." Cubak liked to say.

She spots us running towards her, but doesn't seem to acknowledge Jez and I. "Braeden!" She immediately shouts at Ben. "Glad you could make it on time today."

Ben's face gets red, and he looks at the ground. I guess he was late yesterday, which is something you never want to be here.

Cubak turns to Jez and I. "I'm going to assume that ou can keep him on track today?"

"Yes, Coach." Jez mutters, and I nod.

"Alright, then. You're free to go." Cubak nods and all three of us start running, Ben lagging a bit behind us.

"Come on, Ben, step it up!" Jez teases around two laps later, doing a bad imitation of Cubak.

He laughs a little at Jez's terrible impression, and speeds up, meeting us.

Suddenly, a loud noise makes us stop short, and all the campers around us go completly silent.

I barely recognize the noise from eight years ago, when I still lived in the "real world" and heard it all the time.

It was the distinct sound of a car engine.

But there's something different about it.

Like it's breaking down.

I realize I was right as a car comes speeding through the forest that hides the camp, headed straight for us.

All the campers, including Jez, Ben and I, dive out of the way just in time, and the car smacks head-first into a tree, denting the front of it significantly.

The engine sound stops, and I assume the car is completely broken now.

I stand up, brushing dirt off my pants, as a lot of the others stand up, too.

From the inside, I hear someone yell. "Dammit, Sammy! I told you that repair shop was worthless..."

I gather my courage, making sure I still have a fully loaded rock-salt gun in my pocket. You can never be too careful. I don't know who these guys are.

I pull out my gun, and step up to the car window, Jez behind me, her gun out, too.

"What's with the grand entrance?" I yell through the car window. I can't see through it, it's got a thick coat of mud over it.

I back up a little as the door opens slightly, and a man's face appears from inside.

Ben, who I just noticed was behind Jez, drops his gun on the ground in surprise when he sees who's in the car.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." The man says. "My name's Dean Winchester, and this is my brother, Sam."
