Update:

I finally worked up the nerve to get my razor and cut in the bathroom. 

I made three cuts. One of them was pretty deep and I can feel it throbbing just a tiny bit. 

It was still bleeding just a tiny bit when I rolled my sleeve down, and I'm curious about whether or not it still is.
