Chapter Twenty Six

"Absolutely not."

"DeVante."

He rolled his eyes.

"Look, I know you don't want to talk to either couples but we have to do it eventually," Katari had informed him. "They've never argued this badly. Y'all are my roommates, man. I don't like seeing you guys like this."

DeVante and Katari were in DeVante's room, with Katari seriously needing his help to get Severin, Serayah, Solana and Jordan Francis to talk to each other.

But before all four of them had talked to each other, they needed to talk to their significant other first.

Katari was sitting down on DeVante's bed, with DeVante standing up, folding his arms.

Initially Katari was happy about not being involved in this fight but not anymore as now she had to put the pieces together.

"Why'd you ask me though? I'm terrible at bringing people together and making enemies friends again."

As in enemies that used to be friends but weren't anymore because they were both mad at each other for one reason or the other.

"Because we're both single. And it's up to us single people to put things right."

"Why do you call us 'single people', Katari? I don't like that."

Katari had then hissed at him to stop complaining about everything before she lost it.

DeVante had a right to be aggravated though.

When Katari was crying because of a truth or dare game gone wrong five days ago, DeVante was the one to put it together.

When Severin had told them about Solana, he was the one to put things together.... which led to a fight but DeVante did what he had to do.

And now this.

"Think of it as us going to you as our go to person whenever one of our roommates have a problem," Katari had assured him.

"I don't want to be y'all's go to person because I've got problems of my own," DeVante had ranted then he had sighed before saying anything else again. "And you guys don't always help me with that. No offence."

It seemed as though Katari wasn't really taking no for an answer so he had reluctantly agreed to help her out.

Now he needed to know her plan.

It really wasn't that hard.

DeVante had talked to Severin and Serayah.

Katari had talked to Jordan Francis and Solana.

When DeVante had heard this though, he didn't seem too happy about it, because he wasn't.

"No!"

"What do you mean, no?"

He wasn't talking to Severin and Serayah, that was what he meant.

They were so infuriating and immature. It would have taken several lifetimes for common sense to get into both of their heads, most especially Serayah.

Jordan Francis and Solana were way more mature. Then again, they were older and married.

Severin and Serayah had a lot more to learn.

Katari sighed.

"I know that, but think about it. You've known them longer. Didn't you said you guys first met when you were in university or something? Not just that but you and Severin aren't on good terms right now so you can use this whole thing as an opportunity for y'all to make up before things get worse."

DeVante didn't say anything so he had just shrugged but the next time they had fought, he was talking to Jordan Francis and Solana whilst Katari was talking to Severin and Serayah instead.

She agreed to that and they got to business.

There was only one problem, they didn't know where any of them were.

DeVante had gone over to the left side of the room where there were CCTV cameras everywhere, he had unlocked the room with a key.

"Come to think of it, why does this hotel room have so many CCTV camera rooms?"

"To be fair this is a staff member room," DeVante had explained. "They just made it temporarily available to us people. Why do you think this room is so nice?"

It was nice actually and it had looked like this.

Yeah, it was underwater.

Room 17 was half in water and half not.

"Serayah just left the jacuzzi and finished getting dressed I'm assuming. She's currently drying her hair and she's talking to Layla Grace, aka Severin's sister."

They had a jacuzzi in the room the whole time?

Wow... Katari really needed to be more observant of the things around her.

DeVante was right though and they had watched everything through the miscellaneous CCTV cameras, without anybody knowing that they were watching.

And then DeVante was like he was dreaming about Solana, like why are you dreaming about a married woman? That don't make no sense!

To be fair, she is SZA.

What's that supposed to mean? Serayah had snapped at Layla Grace through the phone. That I ain't good enough or something?!

She wasn't good enough to be honest, then again neither was Severin. They both had their many flaws.

Good couples like Jordan Francis and Solana had pointed out the other person's flaws in a way they could have improved on it.

Bad couples however, like Severin and Serayah sometimes had pointed out the other person's flaws in a way that made them win an argument.

Look, just talk to Severin sis. It's the best thing for you to do.

"Before we end up watching everything and not doing anything, we should probably split up," Katari suggested. "Jordan Francis is in the crib. Imma go there and talk to him."

DeVante nodded and they were actually just about to leave the room at the same time.

Until DeVante stopped.

If any of their roommates had found out that they were in the same room as each other then they could have gotten suspicious.

They didn't want that.

As Serayah's location was closer to DeVante and Katari compared to where Jordan Francis was, DeVante was therefore going to leave first.

Severin and Solana were both in the corridors, which wasn't very helpful as all of the corridors had literally looked the same.

"I'll holla at you when Severin and Serayah are in the same room as me."

"Nah, you don't need to do that. They're Severin and Serayah. They're loud enough."

DeVante smiled a bit at that and then he left, with Katari giving him the thumbs up sign instead.

As DeVante was making his way over there, he did encounter Severin on the way, with DeVante just shooting him a dirty look.

Yes, he needed to talk to Severin but he didn't want to make it obvious at the same time.

Plus Severin had no right to be mad at him so Severin therefore needed to apologise and he did.

"DeVante."

He ignored him, becoming ticked off too because he was more or less blocking his pathway.

"Look, man, I need to talk to you."

So did DeVante but he didn't show it.

Instead he had just yelled at him, asking him what he wanted with Severin falling silent for the longest ever time and then he sighed.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?"

Severin had just let him know that he had already known what he was sorry for, but despite this he had still told DeVante everything anyway.

"I was talking to Katari and she said that I don't have any right to be mad at you because you were doing the right thing. I should have just been straight with Jordan Francis, Solana and Serayah from the get go but I wasn't. And I'm sorry."

Not saying anything, DeVante had thought hard about what he had said.

He had forgiven him under the conditions that he had started taking responsibility for his actions, not just that but anytime he had a problem with someone he had talked to them about it.

Instead of getting someone else involved in it.

"Isn't that the same thing as taking responsibility for my actions though?"

"Yes but for the second bit I'm saying that you should take responsibility for your actions without dragging someone else into your problems. Unless they're related to it."

Nodding, Severin had agreed to that, and they hugged after fist bumping each other simultaneously.

DeVante wanted to know what Katari had said about him, with Severin wanting to know what he had said to Serayah about Solana.

"Never mind," DeVante grinned. "And speaking of Serayah, you should probably go and talk to her."

It had turned out that DeVante wasn't the only one that didn't want to talk to Serayah because Severin too wasn't very keen on the idea even though they were questionably girlfriend and boyfriend.

"No! I am not talking to Serayah not even if she was the last girl on earth!"

DeVante had reminded him that he needed to take responsibility for his actions, which had included talking to Serayah but he had refused.

"But she's your girlfriend."

They didn't exactly break up.

"Soon to be ex girlfriend!"

In the end, as he was so ticked off, DeVante had no choice but to literally carry Severin to Serayah's room because he was so reluctant to talk to her.

He even wanted to break up with her.

When he had taken him to her room, Serayah had lowkey screamed what is this stupid boy doing in my room?! with DeVante closing the door behind him and locking it too.

That was when Katari had gone to talk to Jordan Francis and Solana, winking at DeVante through the window and the other way around as she had walked past him.

Imma get to Jordan Francis, Solana and Katari later - I really have to do Severin and Serayah
