Chapter Thirty

As the four of them were making their way over to where Severin was, Severin was freaking out.

He had done so before but now things were probably even worse than before.

He didn't even want to tell the rest of them about this because it didn't concern them - that was until DeVante had changed Severin's mind about this.

DeVante had just told the rest of the roommates what had just happened, with them making their way over to the room.

Severin and DeVante had very wisely hidden Serayah's dead body in a body bag, which they were going to wait on because they wanted the rest of their roommates to help them.

Screw that though, they had done so already.

Solana was the first to walk into the room, along with Jordan Francis, Katari and then DeVante.

If Serayah was still alive and one of them had died instead then Serayah would have most likely had a go at Severin for what he did.

None of them had done that because they had understood his situation.

Instead they had offered him love and support, with Jordan Francis wanting to know what actually happened.

It wasn't that Severin had forgotten about what had happened, he just didn't want to think about it but unfortunately he didn't really have much of a choice on that.

When they had all sat down on the bed minus DeVante, Severin had explained what had happened very reluctantly.

He didn't want to get into a lot of details because it wasn't like this was a happy event, but he had just started the story by informing them that Serayah had gotten out the gun in the first place because she was pissed at DeVante.

"Why?" From Katari. "Why was she pissed at DeVante?"

"He had gotten involved in our relationship problems," Severin had deadpanned. "You know how I kept dreaming about Solana? Not just that but I wasn't happy being in a relationship with Serayah? Yeah, I didn't exactly tell her any of that."

None of them had actually blamed him for that.

Serayah wasn't exactly the best person at confrontation when she was still alive, not just that but that was quite hard to tell someone anyway.

Oh yeah, I'm dreaming about a married woman? And at the same time I'm not happy in our relationship?

Severin didn't have a death wish.

DeVante was just trying to help but only Severin had seen it as helping, Serayah had seen it as a threat.

"You know, this is all your fault, DeVante! If you hadn't gotten involved in our stupid problems then none of this would have happened!"

"I was just tryna help-"

"We didn't need your flipping help!" She cried, the gun still pointed at DeVante.

Severin had tried to call the other roommates for help although his phone had just died and he didn't know DeVante and Serayah's phone password.

She was literally about to shoot DeVante.

Severin had to do something, and he had to be quiet about it too otherwise she would have pointed the gun at him instead.

Look, I know you're mot happy Serayah but do you really have to kill one of us in this room just to make yourself feel better?!

Severin realised something.

There wasn't one gun.

There were two.

The one he was staring at had a silencer.

No.

Yes.

No.

It'll be the end of your depression, plus if you don't shoot Serayah then she'll shoot DeVante.

Severin had to think hard about it, and fast too because DeVante was crying his heart out.

Serayah had cocked the gun, and all she needed to do now was shoot.

Severin sighed.

He had tried calling for help already but the rest of them were too far away, plus if Serayah had seen Severin leaving the room or trying to do that then he was done for.

He was going to get into a lot of trouble for this but he had to do what he had to do.

"Three, two, one..."

She was counting down from ten to kill DeVante.

When she hit one, Severin had called her.

Mercilessly, he had shot her.

There was silence in the room for a while.

Then Serayah fell to the floor, lifeless.

DeVante's mouth was open as he had looked at her, then at Severin.

"Severin, what did you do?"

He didn't even know... it just happened.

"I.... I shot Serayah to save your life!" He was in serious tears as DeVante had gone up to hug him.

DeVante had realised that ever since Severin and Serayah had gotten Instagram, their relationship had gone downhill.

So he was going to tell them to delete it or go on a break at least but it was too late.

Now they had bigger problems.

Serayah was dead.

Severin had killed her to save DeVante's life.

That was half of what had happened before Serayah had died once and for all.

"Sadly I can't even say it was self defence because it wasn't," Severin had continued after he had told them the story.

Why?

Because Serayah had asked Severin...

Say Solana wasn't in a relationship bad neither was I... who would you choose?

"Who did you choose?"

"What do you think, Solana?" DeVante had frowned at her, with Solana in the meantime looking at him.

When she had realised that Severin had chosen her, she was happy- which was only temporarily especially after she had realised something that Serayah was dead now.

"Anyway. Severin told her Solana. She got ticked off, Severin had gotten ticked off at her being ticked off because what was the point of asking that question if she was just going to be annoyed about it later... then they had an argument."

Severin got physical and the guns came out.

Maybe if Severin hadn't gotten physical with her then Serayah wouldn't have died and he wouldn't have been stressing so much right now.

"Perhaps if you said Serayah's name then none of this would have happened?" Jordan Francis had suggested.

"I guess but then I would have been lying," Severin sighed, sitting down, simultaneously slouching in his seat. "I hate lying. And I know Serayah didn't say that I had to tell the truth but I would have felt guilty lying. You can even ask DeVante."

He nodded, Severin didn't like lying about anything.

It kind of was self defence though because Severin had shot Serayah to try and protect DeVante's life, which was what Katari had pointed out and the rest of them minus Severin had nodded.

The only way they could have really found out was if they had called the police - which Severin was inevitably against because he didn't want to go to jail.

In fact he was screaming that they shouldn't have called the police because news spread like wildfire around here, plus people would have been suspicious if they found policemen at a couple's retreat.

"Yeah but Severin-"

DeVante had finished talking when he had seen how much Severin didn't want to go to jail.

Of course though, who did?

Sighing, he had then said that he would have dialled the ambulance instead, which was thankfully a lot closer than the nearest police station.

Twenty minutes later and the ambulance had arrived to take Serayah to the mortuary, with one of them wanting to know how she died to make their autopsy easier for them.

The five of them didn't say anything when they had heard that, wondering whether they should have lied or told the truth.

Katari had lied, saying that there was a terrorist attack in this room because it was one of the best rooms there as it was a staff room.

Until Severin had nudged her and he told her the truth very grudgingly.

When the two ambulance staff members had heard the news, they were shocked, not knowing what to do.

"Please don't call the police."

That was hard for them because whilst it was self defence, it wasn't self defence at the same time.

Severin shouldn't have been physical with her plus there was no point having a go at a dead person was there? No there wasn't.

"So he's going to jail?" Solana summed up.

"We would tell the police to let you off on a warning but we could get in trouble for that so yeah, Severin is going to jail. But don't worry, I'm sure it won't be for long because it was kinda self defence."

At least they literally dodged a bullet.

It sucked that Severin was getting arrested, with him telling the rest of them not to have Serayah's funeral until after he had gotten let out.

The police did eventually come, because someone else in the hotel was misbehaving, handcuffing Severin and arresting him for three months.

Jordan Francis had learnt from Serayah's death that life was way too short for people to hold grudges against the people they cared about.

They were also banned from the retreat because when people had seen Severin get arrested, it had really cost the managers there.

As none of them were even planning on going back, they therefore weren't very upset that they weren't coming back, even if they had to leave early.

Severin had received a few visits in jail from them, but he didn't tell his family members about any of this.

Until everything spilt at the funeral.
