Chapter Eighteen
When the three girls were together, Serayah and Solana wanted to know what was up with Katari and why she had decided to lie.
She had just claimed to everyone that DeVante was her man even though they didn't know each other like that yet.
"Why did you say that, girl?"
"I was panicking, Serayah, okay?" Katari had yelled at her unintentionally. "What am I going to do now? Shequoia wants me to flirt with him."
That didn't mean that she had to do so, because that wasn't true.
They could have just taken a U Turn and left.
Especially how she had asked for a truth and they had given her a dare at the end.
Though now they were on the topic, Solana wanted to know why Katari had said DeVante.
"I mean, before this beach party, I didn't really know anyone except from those in my room. All the men there are already in a relationship except from DeVante."
Made sense, although she could have said that her boyfriend wasn't at the retreat.
Or even better, she just didn't have one at all.
"What if DeVante is mad at me?"
He couldn't have been because he didn't even know anything about this.
It didn't seem fair to not tell him about this, especially when Katari was freaking out so much that she left the scene... as in she ran away back to her room.
Serayah and Solana had just sighed, Katari really cared a lot about what other people had thought of her and it wasn't good.
At some point, Solana was even thinking of convincing Katari to tell Shequoia and everyone else playing the game the truth.
But how could she have done that if she had ran away?
Guess they had to do it themselves, and they did.
Reluctantly going back to the circle, where the girls were playing truth or dare, Solana had then yelled Shequoia's name, with everyone looking at Solana.
"What you just did wasn't cool."
"Word, Katari asked for a truth. Not a dare." Serayah had snapped, folding her arms.
Shequoia and Shafuara had just looked at each other, before rolling their eyes.
"Do you really think I care about that?" Shequoia hissed. "Although Katari must have been lying if she acted that way when I asked her those questions."
She had literally put her on the spot and she was acting as though it was okay.
Solana had eventually told everyone the truth, not that Katari had anything to worry about because a lot of people in the circle were single too.
Solana and Serayah were utterly surprised after about 50 out of 90 ish girls had put their hands up when Serayah had asked them who was single.
Shequoia and Shafuara didn't say anything.
Until Shequoia had put up her hand too.
Solana scoffed.
"So here you are throwing shade at us when you're single yourself?"
She rolled her eyes, with Solana and Serayah realising that they had better things to do than to play truth or dare with some obnoxious twins as hosts.
They weren't going to talk to Katari straight away because Solana had a better idea.
A bit crazy, but it could have worked.
**********
"This is a bad idea, Solana."
"If you keep thinking that way, it might come true. Don't let that happen!"
Her plan was for them to sneak into the beach house at a place in the beach where only men were allowed.
Because even though the staff members had said that girls couldn't have gone to the boys' section and vice versa...
They didn't say they couldn't have done so...
In disguise.
Solana and Serayah had literally looked like men now, with caps, fake moustaches, tracksuits and everything from the beach clothes store.
Also, the men were having some beach costume party later and the girls were too... just respectively sadly.
"I don't understand why we're here."
"Look, Katari's single. DeVante's single."
Basically Solana wanted DeVante to talk to Katari over everything.
They would have done so themselves although this would have hopefully been a good opportunity for them to meet each other.
Made sense.
However Serayah was worried that DeVante would have been mad at them for interfering with his love life like that.
Solana didn't say anything, trying to get into the beach house where the men were.
Until someone had stopped them, and his name was Kevin due to his name tag.
He had a grey long sleeve top on and tropical shorts. He also had dark brown sandals, and now he wanted to know their names.
"Our names?" Sereyah repeated, with Kevin looking at them suspiciously.
Before he had said yes... for the longest ever time and the slowest ever way.
Now Serayah and Solana had to think of boys' names because they hadn't done so beforehand.
The quicker they had talked to DeVante then the better because if Katari had been left upstairs for too long then she might have thought that they didn't care about them.
And that wasn't true... so they didn't want that.
"Can we just go through the register or something and tick off our names?" Solana suggested wisely.
"Why? You should already know your names. Just tell me them and I can tick them off."
They had to think of some common names.
Very common names... but pretty ones too because Serayah and Solana had nice names hopefully.
Serayah had eventually said Carlos.
Kevin checked to see if there was a Carlos on the list that hadn't been ticked off before.
"Carlos Santiarez?"
Serayah didn't reply for a while because she didn't actually think there was a Carlos.
She nodded.
Kevin had ticked her fake name off, before asking Solana the same question.
She couldn't think of a nice but common name.
For some reason she said Rico because the last country her and Jordan Francis went to for their honeymoon was Puerto Rico.
Kevin had looked for the name but it wasn't there.
"Unless you meant Ricky? Ricky Jimenez?"
She nodded.
Kevin had left, because he needed to verify it was actually them by checking their ID cards.
The girls didn't even realise that that was needed to get in here, but it was sensical.
"Waaaait, whatcha mean you need identification?" Serayah hollered.
"To check that you guys are actually who you say you are," Kevin explained. "We don't want any girls in here in disguise. And same for them. You didn't think you could just get in straight away did you?"
Yes, they did.
Of course this was too good to be true.
Hence why Serayah had said that this whole thing was a seriously abysmal idea.
Now the girls had to think about why Kevin couldn't have checked for their Identification.
Solana had one.
They had looked terrible in the pictures.
They all had ID cards with their picture being on it taken by a professional photographer, but the girls had absolutely hated theirs.
"Yeah, so?" Kevin wanted to know. "Loads of people here have bad pictures. Next time, actually be prepared for them."
Okay damn, they really couldn't have gotten in here after all.
Kevin was about to check them for the second time, that was until Serayah had started fake crying unexpectedly.
Kevin didn't know what was up, looking at her blankly.
"Carlos, are you okay?"
She wasn't, and apparently her and Solana
/ Ricky's girlfriend had dumped both of them for not having enough money.
They lived in the same house.
"Our girls left us for our money," Serayah lied.
She take my money
Solana had started lamenting Gold Digger by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx as she was fake crying. Maybe things had seemed more believable that way.
"We never thought they'd do something like that."
Well, I'm in need.
"They left us for someone else."
Yeah she's a trifling
Friend indeed
Kevin had said something before Solana had started singing again.
"I'm sorry."
Then there was a pause for the longest time as the girls had looked at him.
"That I can't accept your fake sob story," Kevin had added, with the girls complaining. "Although if you guys are so reluctant for me to check your ID then there's most definitely a problem somewhere."
He was just doing his job though, he really didn't know why they had something against that.
If Kevin had let them in without checking their ID to see if it was really them then he would have been in so much trouble.
That was when the girls had given up, and they had told him who they really were.
They had removed their disguises ever so slightly, with Kevin staring really hard at Solana.
He gasped.
"You SZA!"
He had said her name as the letters respectively though, not as Siz-Uh.
Solona didn't even seem to mind. At this point, she didn't relay care anymore to be honest.
He was a huge fan of her, and now that he had thought about it he wasn't going to let them in until Solana had given them his autograph.
She was okay with that so Kevin had let both of them in as long as they had remained discreet and they didn't tell anyone about this.
Putting their disguises on again, the girls had headed inside where there were about 70 or so boys..
"Seen DeVante?"
Serayah nodded.
Although there was only one problem- he was playing Blackjack.
Great, what now?
There were stuck until Solana had seen Jordan Francis in the far corner texting someone.
She had gone over to him, completely forgetting the fact that she was supposed to be disguised as a boy right now.
Putting her arms around him as he was sitting down, Solana had greeted him and said hey baby to him.
Jordan Francis had freaked out.
"Who are you? I have a wife!"
"I am your wife, silly," she smiled, and she had proved it as well removing herself disguise.
"Solana what are you doing here right now? As far as I'm concerned, this is men only."
Katari was upset and they wanted DeVante to talk to her, that was why they were here.
She had explained the whole truth or dare situation to him as well as how her and Serayah wanted DeVante to talk to Katari as they were both single.
"He's playing blackjack right now but imma tell Severin," Jordan Francis deadpanned. "You should probably get out before someone finds out that you and Serayah are girls though."
She nodded.
They fist bumped each other as people would have gotten suspicious if they had done any other public display of affection.
Then the girls left.
Jordan Francis didn't even ask them how they had gotten inside there because he didn't even want to know...
Although when DeVante had finished his game 10 minutes later, him and Severin had talked to him privately, after Jordan Francis had explained everything to Severin.
As DeVante was playing his game.
