{Sonic's P.O.V.}
"Sonic"

I gasped and quickly opened my eyes when I heard it.

"Sonic, it's me."

That voice...

I looked around in a panic, that voice! I've heard it before!

I stopped moving when I saw her.

"M-Mary...?" I stuttered from the shock as I looked at my 'nurse'... But that voice wasn't hers... Right?

A bright light filled the room and blinded me for a couple of seconds. I felt like I was on space, I was floating in space, just like that day...

The light slowly calmed down, it led to Maria, her golden quills became thinner and shorter, her dress longer and... She became a human...

"Hello, Sonic." She smiled warmly at me. "I hope you remember me."

"M-M-Mar-ria...?!" I pinned my ears down and tried to run, but there was no use. "W-w-wha-a-at d-do y-you-u w-w-want...!" I could speak properly, my words couldn't come out, I was shocked, afraid, stressed, anxious, everything I shouldn't be.

As I was panicking, I felt a sharp pain on my head and shouted in pain.

Dark was trying to get out...!

I panted heavily and growled lowly at him. There was no way it'd let him take over.

I was given another chance.

And I wasn't going to give up that easily.

"Let me out!" He growled loudly. "You're too weak to manage your body! I'll take care of things! Trust me~" He chuckled and kept trying to take over.

I curled up and growled louder as the pain got worse, I was in so much pain, I was so afraid that I was going to lose.

I felt someone's hand touch my forehead and the pain instantly calmed down.

I looked up at her with my ears pinned down and a few tears rolling down my muzzle from the intense pain.

"I know it hurts, Sonic. I know how much you've suffered." Maria said softly and wiped my tears. "And I know you won't believe me when I'll say this... But Sonic... Shadow's still alive... He's fighting for you..."

I growled lowly at that and pushed her away. "No! There's no way! You're saying this to get me hurt my friends!"

"Why would I do that?" Maria asked softly. "I've helped you all this time, why would I throw all the hard work away and made you hurt someone?"

"Because you wanted me out of there so I can hurt them." I didn't trust her anymore, not after what happened the last time I saw her.

"But Sonic..-"

"NO! You're going to leave me alone! I don't care what you're going to say! I've finally calmed down! I'm not going back there!" I shouted at her, feeling the headache slowly coming back.

"That's not true, Sonic. I'm trying to help you. Both you and Shadow." She shook her head.

"Shadow's dead!!" I growled loudly and clenched my fists, I could feel Dark taking over, but I was still fighting back. "Stop reminding me that I've lost him!!"

"He's not dead! He's alive!" She kept insisting. "He's fighting for your sake!"

"I. Don't. CARE!!" I yelled in pain and frustration. "He's GONE!! GONE!! GONE!!" I repeated the word, feeling like I was slowly losing control and hearing Dark laugh at how pathetic I was.

"Give up, Sonic! You won't be able to fight forever~" He chuckled. "We both know tha-"

He suddenly disappeared, along with the pain.

"Sonic." She spoke up again, making me growl even louder.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!!" I attacked her, but she faded away into rose petals.

"Sonic, please calm down. This breaks my heart to see you like this... You don't deserve this..."

I could still hear her voice as the petals circled around me.

"You need to listen to me. I'm just trying to help you."

"Get out if my head!!"

"Please, Sonic."

"What do you want from me?!?"

"I want you to listen."

"Just say what you want!!"

"You have to promise to me that you'll at least think about it."

"Fine...!"

"If you ever come to a difficult situation that will break your heart, try to put yourself in the other one's shoes and think about the consequences that it will have in the future."

I stayed quiet at that, her words made no sense.

How on Chaos does that connect with him?!

"Sonic...?"

"I will! I will... Get out of my head... Get me out of here..."

"You're special, Sonic. I promise things will get better..."

That was the last thing I heard before I blanked out.

"Hey bro. Wake up."

I groaned softly and slowly opened my eyes when I heard Manic calling my name.

"You've been asleep for so long. Is the bed too comfortable or something?" He chuckled. He was sitting next to me on the bed, holding a plate with two chili dogs on it.

"Or something..." I mumbled with a low groan as I stretched under the blanket.

"You hungry~?" Manic smirked and put the plate in front of my face, the smell of chili dogs instantly hitting my nose and making me hungry in a matter of seconds.

I smiled softly and sat up then grabbed the plate. "You know how to make my day."

"Of course I do. I know my little brother." He chuckled and messed my quills, making me laugh.

"I take it back." I rolled my eyes playfully and started eating.

It's so nice to have my family back.

But my thoughts aren't even close to nice...
