You said, "Forever, " in the end I fought it
Charles had just won the opening race. A dream start for the red team, and he was leading it. The first thing he did after the podium and champagne, was calling Jo.
He had thought about her the entire time. He knew she was watching, cheering for him like she promised.
Jo, Nash, and Rose were all gathered together at Jo's apartment. They celebrated Charles' win. Jo's phone rang and she immediately grabbed it, the commentator still speaking as the race ended.
She was immediately greeted by Charles' smile and dimples. His hair was soaked with champagne.
"Hey." He smiled proudly and Jo chuckled.
"That was amazing. We were all cheering for you. That fight had us at the edge of our seat." Jo spoke and Charles chuckled.
She moved the camera showing Rose and Nash.
"Hey!" Charles smiled when he saw them.
"Mate, that was amazing, you killed it." Nash congratulated him and Charles laughed.
"I'm just keeping my promise." He replied and Nash laughed.
"I've never watched a more exciting race. Congratulations Charles." Rose smiled.
"Thank you, Rose. There's someone here who actually wanted to talk to you." He turned the camera showing Carlos at the distance. "Carlos!" He called him, the Spaniard looked up.
"What's going on?" He walked towards Charles and looked into his phone. "Heyyy, Rosie-Rose!" He smiled when he saw her. "Charles passed me your message."
"So..." Rose crossed her arms.
"You're not beating me at golf, maybe you can beat Lando, but not me." He pointed at the camera.
"We'll see."
"We'll see." Carlos smiled. "Hey Nash, hey Jo." He waved and they waved back. "I'll leave you two lovebirds." He nudged Charles slightly making him chuckle.
"I miss you." Jo let out of her chest.
"I miss you too." Charles smiled, a trace of sadness in his smile. He wanted to have his girl besides him, hugging her and kissing her. "I'll be in Monaco after Saudi Arabia." He spoke.
"I can't wait." Jo smiled at just the thought of them being together.
"Me neither." Charles smiled, having the same thought as Jo. "How's the song going?" He asked.
"It's going great. Just needs some details and I need to find a discography that wants me." Jo scrunched her nose.
"I can help you with that." Charles spoke and Jo raised her eyebrows.
"Charles, I want you to focus on your career right now." She spoke.
"What about yours?" He asked tilting his head slightly and Jo chuckled softly at his words.
"Focus on winning Saudi Arabia and we'll talk about my song when you're here, yes?" Jo pursed her lips on a smile and Charles nodded.
"Fine." He gave in. "I love you."
"I love you too. To infinity." I spoke and he chuckled softly.

The day Jo had been waiting for finally came. She was at Charles' apartment. Pascale and her were making a cake to welcome Charles.
Lorenzo, Arthur, Nash, and Rose were playing video games in the living room.
"Hey, that's cheating!" Rose yelled as she clicked the buttons on the remote aggressively.
"That's not cheating, you just suck." Arthur replied laughing amused.
"Arthur, be nice." Pascale scolded him and Jo chuckled.
Rose extended her arm covering Arthur's eyes.
"Hey!" He laughed trying to push her hand off. "I can't see!"
"That's the whole point." Rose laughed.
Nash and Lorenzo laughed amused at the scene.
"And Rose wins!" Lorenzo announced. "My turn." He snatched the controller from Arthur.
"That's not fair." The younger Leclerc whined.
Nash looked at the kitchen and saw Jo and Pascale talking and laughing as they cooked. He stood up and walked towards them.
"Hey." He put his hands in his pockets. Pascale and Jo welcomed him with a smile. "Oh, this looks nice." He tried to grab frosting that Jo was mixing in the bowl.
Jo hit his hand.
"Ow." He rubbed his hand.
"She's been perfecting the frosting for an hour." Pascale laughed and Jo nodded.
"Can you try it and tell me if it's good?" Jo asked Pascale and she nodded smiling.
She grabbed a bit and tried it.
"Mmm." She smiled nodding. "This is wonderful. Tastes like heaven." She spoke and Jo smiled proudly.
"You can try it now." She told Nash and he laughed.
He put his finger in the bowl grabbing frosting and tried it.
"Mmm." He nodded approvingly. "This is good. Tastes like heaven like Mrs. Leclerc said." He spoke.
"Oh please, call me Pascale." She told him with a smile and he smiled nodding. "Nash, can you please help me get the cake out of the oven?" He asked and the brunette nodded.
"Of course Mrs...Pascale." He corrected himself and Pascale chuckled softly.
The cake was on the table and everything was ready for Charles. Jo kept looking out of the window hoping to see Charles.
"I can't wait to see my boy." Pascale stood next to Jo and she turned her head, smiling at her. "I heard what happened with his PR." She spoke.
"Oh, don't worry. We handled it." Jo shook her head and looked at her hands, fidgeting with her ring.
"Honey." She grabbed her hand softly. "You're an amazing girl, my son is really lucky to have you." She spoke and Jo smiled.
"He's amazing. He's more than I could ever ask for." She spoke and Pascale smiled pinching her cheek softly.
The sound of a key unlocking the door made them turn around. Her heart raced as the door opened. She ran towards the door.
Charles walked in, unaware of his welcome party. He felt a pair of arms wrap around him. He was startled at first but then recognized the touch. He dropped his bags and wrapped his arms around the brunette.
"I'm home." He giggled grabbing her face, pushing strands of hair off her face.
"You're home." She giggled and he went in to kiss her.
His stomach fluttered as their lips met, they tasted as sweet as he remembered.
"Ew, get a room." Arthur's voice made them laugh.
"Hey asshole." Charles joked and Arthur chuckled.
"Charles." Pascale scolded him and they all laughed.
Charles hugged everyone in the room, all of them greeting him with excitement and happiness to see him.
He looked at the table and a smile appeared on his face.
"No way, I love vanilla cake." He chuckled excited.
"Jo and I made it just for you." Pascale spoke and Charles smiled.
He wrapped his arm around Jo.
"Thank you mom." He placed a kiss on the top of his mom's head and he smiled. "And thank you love." He kissed Jo's cheek.
"Drop the hugs and kisses, I want to eat." Arthur spoke and Charles rolled his eyes.

Everyone had left. Jo and Charles were left together in the apartment.
" I would do whatever you wanted. We don't have to leave the apartment. Met you at the right time. This is what it feels like." Jo sang and clicked the last tiles in the piano.
Charles clapped and Jo laughed looking down, flattered.
"How was it?" She asked and he made a thinking face as he walked closer to her, leaning in.
"Perfect." He whispered and Jo smiled. She put her hands on his face, kissing him. "Is this the right time to tell you I ignored what you told me and called a discography?" He asked and Jo laughed.
"What?" She raised her eyebrows.
"They want to work with you. Just send them your song and they'll make sure to put it out so the entire world can hear it. Talent like yours deserves to be recognized." He spoke and Jo pursed her lips in a smile.
She wrapped her arms around Charles' neck and pulled him in a hug.
"Thank you." She whispered, her voice cracking as her emotions hit her.
"I'd do everything for you." He whispered rubbing her back.
He looked down at her and wiped her tears with his thumb. She chuckled covering her face.
"I hate you for making me so emotional." She laughed hitting him softly and he laughed.
"It's your dream. Your dreams are important to me." He spoke and Jo smiled pursing her lips.
"What did I do to deserve you?" She chuckled and Charles smiled leaning in to kiss her.

Jo had taken Charles to her childhood home to visit her mother. Her mother was a woman of strong character but Charles somehow managed to charm her as he did with everyone around him.
Jo smiled when she heard her mom's laughter at the story that Charles was telling her.
"Yeah, I fell on my back so rocks were literally incrusted in my back." Charles laughed pointing his back.
"Oh, that must've hurt like a bitch." Jo's mom let out and Jo almost choked with her coffee.
"Mom." She laughed and Charles chuckled.
"What? I can say bad words too." She shrugged smiling and they laughed.
"We had a swear jar." Jo raised her eyebrows and Charles laughed.
"That's in the past." Jo's mom laughed. "Oh Charles, honey, do you want another coffee?" She asked and Charles shook his head.
"No thank you, it was really good Mrs. Lexington." He spoke standing up.
"It's Georgina and don't bother with the mugs." She spoke and Charles nodded.
"Don't worry. I'll take the mugs Georgina." He smiled and looked at Jo. "Do you want more coffee love?" He asked.
"Yes please." Jo smiled looking up at him.
Charles grabbed her mug and walked towards the kitchen. Jo watched him walk away with heart eyes, in her eyes he was the perfect man.
"He's approved." Georgina spoke and Jo looked at her smiling.
"He's perfect. I knew you'd like him." She spoke and Georgina shrugged.
"I'll admit I was skeptical at first." She spoke taking a sip of her coffee. "Especially 'cause your taste was sort of questionable for a while." She added.
"Mom." Jo laughed hitting her arm softly and she laughed.
Charles came back and handed Jo a mug with freshly poured coffee.
"Two cubes of sugar and a dash of milk just how you like it." He spoke and Jo smiled grabbing it.

Charles and Jo were walking down the street holding hands.
"My mom loved you." Jo spoke and Charles chuckled.
"Did she?" He asked and Jo nodded.
"Winning my mom over is so hard and you made it look so easy." She spoke and Charles smiled proudly. "Are you even real?" She asked and Charles titled his head.
"What do you mean?" He asked and Jo chuckled.
"It might sound weird but sometimes I feel like you're just a dream. Like I created you." She spoke and Charles chuckled.
"Me too." He replied and Jo pursed her lips on a smile. "If it's a dream I don't want to wake up. I don't want to wake up and not see you there." He whispered and Jo stared into his eyes.
"Let's not wake up then." She smile facing him.
"Let's not wake up." He whispered as Jo fixed a strand of hair hanging in front of his eyes.
He put his hand on her face and pulled her in kissing her softly. He pulled her in by her waist, the only eye witness to their love being the stars and the moon.

Charles was back on track, full focus on the championship.
Jo and Nash were watching the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix together. Rose wasn't able to make it, she had an event for her jewelry brand.
They stared at the TV, cheering on Charles as he chased the car in front. Charles was giving it his all, it could be seen even from afar how hard he was pushing.
"Come on mate, come on." Nash whispered nervously as he stared at the TV.
Jo had her hands on her chin, not even blinking as she watched her boyfriend risking his life for a position.
"Oh, and Charles Leclerc has spun out of the race! Unbelievable! Lando Norris goes through to take third place."
"No!" Jo threw her hands in the air.
"Fuck." Nash cursed passing his hands through his hair.
Jo's heart raced as she saw him get out the car. The frustration could be seen through the screen. She put her hand on her chest.
"He did his best." Nash rubbed her shoulder as they watched with sadness.
Charles had locked himself up in his driver's room. He didn't want anyone to see him. His chest was aching from the anger he felt towards himself.
His phone rang and he cursed underneath his breath. He saw Jo's name and answered.
"Baby, right now it's not the time." He answered with the softest tone he could.
"I just wanted to check on you." Jo spoke and Charles sighed.
"Well I feel like shit. What do you want me to say?" He let out abruptly.
Jo's heart skipped a beat at his tone. He had never talked to her like that before. She swallowed hard. Charles sighed, the silence on the other line making him realize that he had screwed up.
"I'm sorry Jojo." He apologized.
"It's okay." She whispered, her tone clearly showing she was hurt.
"No, you just wanted to check on me and I behaved like an asshole, I'm sorry I just..." He sighed.
"Charles, it's okay, really." She spoke. "I love you, okay?"
"I love you too. To infinity." He spoke and Jo smiled at the last sentence. "Gosh." He sighed. "I just wished you were here." He whispered.
"Me too. But it's not up to us."
"I hate it."
"I hate it as much as you do." Jo admitted. "I watered your plants today." She changed the subject making Charles chuckle.
"Even the one by the window?" He asked smiling.
"Especially that one." She replied and he chuckled softly.
After a while, they finally hung up. Charles feeling way much better but Jo felt a strange sadness. She wanted to be there for him in person and it was killing her.
"How is he?" Nash asked when she saw her hung up.
"Much better now." She replied and Nash smiled.
"Good." He patted the spot next to him on the couch.
Jo sighed and sat down next to him.
"What's wrong Jojo?" He asked in a whisper when he saw her sad expression.
"It frustrates me. Why won't they let him be seen with me? Am I not enough?" She finally expressed her inner thoughts.
"Jo." Nash furrowed her brows at her words. "Never ever say you're not enough. If something you're too much for anyone, okay?" He spoke and she nodded. "I don't want to hear that low self-esteem shit." He joked wrapping one arm around her.
She chuckled leaning her head on his chest.
"Remember what your promised to Rose." He reminded her.
"That I will walk away if he hurts me." He recalled her best friend's words and Nash nodded.
"I owe Rose 20." He spoke and Jo looked up at him confused. "She put money on a Lando podium and she actually got it right." He spoke throwing his head back and Jo laughed.
