You said "Forever", and I almost bought it

"Charles is not answering any of my calls. Where is he?" Jo spoke pacing around her apartment.

Nash and Rose looked at each other. They'd been trying to distract her while Charles prepared a surprise for her but Jo had noticed something was off.

"I'm sure his phone just died." Nash tried making up an excuse.

Rose's phone rang and she jumped startled. She looked at her phone and saw Carlos' name on the screen.

"Who is it?" Jo asked.

"Carlos." Rose replied answering the phone and putting it on her ear. "Hey Carlitos." She answered.

"Hey Rosie-Rose. How is it going? Has she noticed?" Carlos asked, involved in the plan too.

"Yeah, we're not busy." Rose replied, giving an answer but not seeming suspicious in front of Jo, who was listening to the conversation.

"Ask him if Charles is with him." Jo whispered.

"Is Charles with you?" Rose played along.

"Tell her that Lando and I are going to the bowling alley. Meet us there. Tell her Charles is gonna be there." Carlos gave instructions.

"Okay, thank you." Rose hung up and Jo looked at her expectant. "He said to meet him and Lando at the bowling alley, Charles is gonna be there in a while, his phone probably died." She spoke and Jo sighed relieved.

"Oh my God, I love going bowling." Nash smiled excited.

"We know, you made it really clear last time you made a strike with your eyes closed just to show off." Rose crossed her arms and he shrugged smiling.

"What can I say?"

"Let's go." Jo smiled grabbing her purse. "We don't want to make them wait."

Nash feigned wiping the sweat off his forehead and Rose let out air through her nose nodding in agreement. Keeping Jo away from Charles was a harder task than they expected.

Charles was at Arthur's apartment. Lorenzo, his mom, and him were helping him prepare everything.

"Aw, this is so cute." Pascale spoke as she pulled out the TY plushie.

"It was her favorite plushie as a kid. She lost it in an amusement park." Charles explained and Pascale smiled in awe.

"You're so corny." Arthur spoke up, ruining the moment. Lorenzo chuckled as Pascale and Charles sent a glare towards the blond. "But cute." He added raising his hands in fake surrender.

"You said her favorite color was mint green, right?" Lorenzo asked and Charles nodded. "This is not mint green, Charles." He grabbed the tablecloth.

"What do you mean? That's mint green." Charles defended his choice.

"Charles, mon amour, that's forest green." Pascale raised her eyebrows, agreeing with Lorenzo.

"Are you colorblind?" Arthur asked and Charles glared at him again.

"Ugh, I messed up. Now I need to get another one." Charles threw his head back, frustrated at his mistake.

Pascale rubbed his back.

"Baby, you're putting all your effort in this. I'm sure she'll love it." She spoke and Charles looked at her.

"She's the most amazing girl ever. She deserves all this effort and more." He spoke and Pascale smiled.

"I'll go get a new tablecloth, don't worry." Lorenzo spoke.

"Thank you, Enzo." Charles put his hands together, thanking him.

"It's nothing, I can see how much you like her." He chuckled softly and Charles smiled.

Back in the bowling alley. Bowling had been the perfect thing to distract Jo from Charles. She was really competitive.

They had made two teams. Jo and Nash were one and Carlos, Lando, and Rose were another one. And even though this last ones mentioned had the advantage in numbers, Jo and Nash were amazing playing bowling.

"Come on Rose, we need a strike, just a single one to not look so pathetic." Carlos spoke as he stood besides Rose who was holding the bowling ball.

"Just look at the pins and picture them falling." Lando encouraged her as well.

Nash and Jo looked at each other amused at the scene in front of them.

"Like manifesting?" Rose asked.

"Exactly." Carlos nodded raising his finger.

"Okay." Rose closer her eyes taking a deep breath.

She threw the ball and Carlos and Lando looked expectant. It went to the canal, not getting the chance to knock a single pin.

"Oh." Rose whispered disappointed. "Manifesting didn't work." She sighed defeated.

"You tried." Lando patted her shoulder.

She walked back to sit down and Jo smiled rubbing her back, comforting her.

"That was a good try." She smiled and Rose pursed her lips.

"At least you're a good winner." She spoke looking up at her friend and she chuckled.

"Now watch a true pro." Nash spoke up cracking his knuckles.

"Unlike others." Lando pointed at Nash with his head and they laughed.

Nash grabbed a bowling ball and looked back at his friends.

"Last one and we win." He pointed at Jo who laughed.

"Watch him fail." Carlos crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Nash threw the ball and smiled when it knocked down all the pins, making once again another strike.

"This game is rigged." Lando spoke annoyed.

Jo clapped and stood up. Nash wrapped her arms around her and spun her around, lifting her off the ground slightly.

"Mate, how the hell are you so good?" Carlos asked and Nash shrugged.

"Natural talent." He joked making him laugh. "Jo, Rose, and I always came down to the bowling alley when we were kids." He explained.

"Aw, that's cute." Lando spoke and Nash chuckled softly.

Jo suddenly realized she was missing something. Someone.

"Where's Charles?" She asked making everyone go into panic mode.

"Uh...he's probably stuck in traffic." Lando tried making up an excuse.

"Traffic? There's no traffic." Jo spoke and everyone looked at each other.

"Why don't we play another round?" Rose suggested.

"I'm starting to get worried, he hasn't been answering the whole day." Jo kept going, nothing distracting her from her point.

"We should definitely play another round." Carlos agreed with Rose.

"Maybe I should go look for him." Jo grabbed her purse.

"No." Nash stopped her, grabbing her purse and putting it back in the chair.

"Why are all of you acting so weird?" She asked looking at everyone and they all looked at each other.

Carlos' phone dinged and he looked at it.

Charles
Bring her pleaseeee
Everything's ready

"Is it time?" Nash asked and Carlos nodded.

"Finally." Rose sighed in relief.

"Time for what?" Jo asked confused, she wasn't understanding anything her friends were saying.

"For you to see your loved one." Nash suddenly picked her up.

"What are you..." Jo tried protesting as her feet left the ground.

"Let's go." Nash spoke carrying Jo out of the place.

"I got the purse." Lando spoke grabbing Jo's purse and following the others out of the bowling alley.

Rose, Lando, and Carlos left together as Nash drove Jo to where we was supposed to meet Charles.

"Where are we going?" Jo asked looking out the window.

"You'll see." Nash replied not taking his eyes off the road.

"Why are we going to the beach?" She asked confused.

"You'll see." Nash used the same response.

"Nash." She raised her eyebrows at him.

"Jocelyn Anne Lexington. Just let me drive and you'll see." He spoke chuckling at her impatience and she crossed her arms leaning back on the seat.

"Fine." She mumbled, giving up.

Nash smiled looking at her for a second, her hair blowing with the wind as she had an annoyed expression on her face, she still managed to look beautiful even when angry.

He finally stopped the car and Jo felt like jumping out the car but Nash stopped her, grabbing her hand.

"You can't see." He spoke and Jo chuckled scrunching her eyebrows.

"I can see. I'm seeing you right now." She replied and Nash chuckled shaking his head.

"I mean you have to cover your eyes." He spoke reaching over Jo to open the glove compartment.

He pulled out a blindfold and closed it again.

"Are you kidnapping me?" Jo joked and Nash chuckled.

"Do you trust me?" He asked and Jo nodded turning around.

He tied the blindfold around her eyes.

"Can you see?" He asked.

"Uh, no." She replied and he chuckled.

He got out of the car and opened the door, grabbing Jo's hand to lead her.

"Nash, where are we going?" She asked as he led her.

"Be patient."

"Ew, sand got in my heels." She spoke and Nash chuckled.

He saw Charles and he smiled seeing Jo. Her not being aware of his presence.

"Thank you." Charles mouthed and Nash raised his thumb up smiling as he stopped.

"You're all set, take the blindfold off." He whispered in Jo's ear as he stepped back.

Jo took the blindfold off, not expecting at all what she saw. She saw a table with a mint green tablecloth, candles, a picnic basket, and Charles holding some pink dahlias. She put her hands on her chest.

"Oh my God." She whispered speechless. "Charles I...what is this?" She smiled walking towards him.

"Jocelyn Anne Lexington." He started as she stood in front of him. "You have taken my heart in just weeks and I don't want it back. You have bewitched me body and soul and I can't take my eyes off of you." He spoke and Jo chuckled softly at the references. "Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked and Jo's heart raced.

"Yes, yes, yes. A million times yes." She replied excited.

Charles smiled relieved by her answer, his heart pounding against his chest.

"Good thing you said yes or I wasn't gonna give you the plushie." He joked and Jo laughed.

"You got me the TY plushie?" She asked.

"Mhmm." He nodded.

"I love you." She wrapped her arms around his neck and he put his free hand on her waist as she held the dahlias with the other hand.

"I love you too." He whispered and pulled her in.

Their lips met and their stomach exploded with butterflies. It was like a scene out of a movie. Jo had never experienced such happiness and such love. Charles had loved her like no other man ever had.

Or that's what she thought.

Nash saw the couple kissing. He had been watching the whole scene, his hands in his pockets. He smiled softly, seeing her best friend in love. He liked seeing her so happy but he couldn't help but get a heart sinking feeling.

He walked away silently, not wanting to interrupt the happy couple. He looked back one more time and saw Jo hugging him when he gave her the plushie she used to have as a kid.

He remembered the day she had lost it at the amusement park. He also remembered how he had spent his money on an ice cream to make her feel better instead on getting on the roller coaster with his other friends.

The recently formed couple had a lovely dinner as they watched the sunrise. They talked about everything, ending up in the topic of their families.

"My mom and brothers are dying to meet you." Charles spoke and Jo raised her eyebrows.

"Really?"

"Really." He chuckled softly.

"I would love to." She smiled. "My mom is dying to meet you too. I called her the other day and she asked me why I sounded so happy." She spoke and Charles chuckled softly.

"Oh my God, look at the sunset." Jo stood up and walked closer to the shore, Charles followed her.

She stood at a point where the sea water touched her feet, brushing them softly. Charles stood next to her.

"It's like a huge explosion of colors. What a beautiful sight." She smiled looking at the sky, Charles looked at her.

"Yeah, a beautiful sight." He whispered looking at her with a fond smile.

Jo looked at him and smiled.

"The water is so cold." She spoke when the water touched her feet.

"Is it?" Charles asked and Jo nodded. "I don't feel it." He smiled teasingly and leaned down, splashing water at Jo.

"Charles!" Jo laughed and splashed water back at him.

"Oh, it is cold." Charles laughed when the water hit him.

They splashed water at each other and Charles leaned down, carrying Jo over her shoulder. She laughed loudly as he spun her around. He put her back on the ground and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I love you." Charles whispered as their noses brushed and Jo felt her heart race.

"I love you too." She whispered and went in to kiss him.

"Met you at the right time. This is what it feels like. Livin' in a movie I've watched and." Jo sang as she played the piano and Charles watched her in awe, a smile on his face. "Funny 'cause I couldn't have called it. Met you at the right time. This is what it feels like." She finished singing.

Charles clapped and Jo chuckled looking down.

"Was I your muse?" He asked teasingly and Jo rolled her eyes with a smile.

"Maybe." She mumbled and he raised his eyebrows. "Not everything's about you." She joked trying to push him away.

He chuckled grabbing her hand softly. Jo chuckled resting her hand on his chest. He leaned in and kissed her.

Jo looked at the window. It was really late, the stars and the moon visible.

"Stay." Charles spoke like he could read her mind. Jo looked at him. "Stay as long as you want. My apartment is yours." He repeated and stood up.

"Can we make pasta?" Jo asked and Charles chuckled as he opened a drawer.

"Of course we can." He replied walking back towards her with something in his hand. "Close your eyes and extend your hand." He told her, hiding his hand behind his back.

"Why?" Jo chuckled curious, trying to peak behind Charles to see what was in his hand.

"Trust me." Charles chuckled hiding his hand.

Jo smiled and closed her eyes, extending her hand. She felt something cold in her hand and opened her eyes. She saw a key.

"It's my apartment's key." Charles explained. "Our apartment now." He corrected himself and Jo chuckled softly.

She caressed the key with her thumb. She laughed excited and pulled in Charles by his shirt. He chuckled and leaned down kissing her. Jo put her hands on Charles' face. Their lips meeting once again, butterflies fluttering in their stomachs.
