I knew you too
Jo started gaining lots of popularity and attention. She kept doing presentations at local bars.
"Thank you once again!" She yelled into the microphone as the crowd cheered and clapped.
"Jo! Jo! Jo!" They started chanting her name as she smiled walking into the backstage.
She was received by two pair of arms. She giggled when she felt them squeeze her.
"You're doing amazing. Everyone's going crazy about you online." Rose spoke and Jo smiled.
"You need to release that song." Nash added and Jo pursed her lips on a smile.
"Actually..." She pressed her index fingers against her lips.
"What?" Nash and Rose asked impatient and Jo chuckled.
"Tell us." Nash put her hands on her shoulders and she laughed.
"It's getting released at the end of the month." She finally let out the news and Nash laughed excited while Rose clapped.
"No way." He spoke and she nodded chuckling. "Oh my God." He picked her up hugging her tightly and she giggled.
Jo's phone rang and she took it out of her pocket as Nash put her down. She smiled when she saw Charles' name on the screen.
"Hey." She answered putting the phone on her ear.
"Mon amour." Charles spoke and she chuckled looking down at the pet name, blushing slightly. "How did the show go?" He asked.
"Amazing." Jo replied sincerely.
"Of course it did. Did you give the news to Nash and Rose about the song?" He asked as he paced around his hotel room.
"Yes." She smiled. "I'm so nervous about it, I'm getting so much attention, it's weird to me." She spoke and Charles chuckled.
"You'll get used to it." He pursed his lips on a smile. "You deserve every spotlight to shine on you."
"Awww." She pouted and Charles chuckled.
"I miss you."
"I miss you too." She held the phone tightly. "How was the flight?"
"Tiring." He replied. "Carlos snores." He scrunched his nose and Jo laughed.
"You should get some rest, practice starts tomorrow." She told him. "Love you."
"I love you too. To infinity." He spoke and Jo smiled.
[...]
"Please, it's near. No one will see her, I promise. We'll be discrete." Charles followed Silvia around the garage.
"Charles, it's not up to me." Silvia explained once again.
"Please convince whoever you have to. Please." He put his hands together, begging.
Silvia looked around and took a deep breath passing her hand through her hair. She looked back at the green-eyed boy who was looking at her expectant.
"Fine." She let out and Charles raised his eyebrows.
"Really?" He smiled excited.
"Yeah, I'll try." She shrugged giving in and Charles chucked happily.
"Mamma mia, grazie, grazie, Silvia." He spoke excited and hugged her, she froze just taking it and he walked away with the biggest smile on his face.
Silvia chuckled softly, amused.
"Young love." She muttered to herself before walking away, trying to think how she was gonna get Charles' secret girlfriend to attend the race.
[...]
Nash and Jo were at her apartment, Rose was at her jewelry store doing a photoshoot for her new collection.
"Here." Jo sat down besides Nash on the couch, handing him a glass of wine.
"Wine? Don't you have vodka?" He asked and Jo chuckled rolling her eyes.
"Wine is better." She argued.
"You're so posh." Nash joked.
"Says the one of royal descent." Jo fired back and he chuckled.
He took a sip of the wine and put it on the table.
"I wanna hear the song." He spoke and Jo smiled looking down. "Pleaseee." He extended the last letter tilting his head, a curl falling in front of his eyes. "Jocelyn." He whined.
"Fine. I'll get the laptop." She was about to stand up but Nash grabbed her arm stopping her.
"I wanna hear it live." He spoke and Jo threw her head back smiling. "A private concert before you sell your tickets for thousands of euros." He joked making Jo laugh.
"Fine." She gave in and stood up, Nash traced his hand through her arm, letting her go softly.
Jo grabbed her guitar and sat back on the couch. Nash scooted so she could fit. She hummed and played some strings. Nash admired her as she put a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Oh. We almost got away, we cut it close." She sang and an unconscious smile appeared on Nash's face. "The city's gettin' loud. If I choke, it's only 'cause I'm scared to be alone." Jo looked up at Nash seeing a smile on his face, she smiled softly. "Been tryin' to work it out, you should know. I would do whatever you wanted."
Jo closed her eyes and smiled. Picturing a pair of green eyes and dimples in her head.
"We don't have to leave the apartment. Met you at the right time. This is what it feels like."
Nash's smile faded softly as he heard the words. He knew who that song was about, and he knew it wasn't him but he liked to imagine it was.
"Livin' in a movie I've watched and. Funny 'cause I couldn't have called it."
Jo's phone rang interrupting her. She put the guitar down and walked towards her phone, Nash following her with his eyes.
She saw Charles' name on the screen and smiled putting the phone on her ear.
"Hey." She answered the phone.
"Pack your things, you're coming to Le Castellet." He spoke and Jo raised her eyebrows surprised at his words.
"What?" She chuckled not believing his words.
"Tomorrow. You're going to be in the garage for the race." He spoke and Jo put her hand on her mouth and laughed excited.
"Oh my God, how did you convince them?" She asked.
"I have my ways." He shrugged smiling. "I can't wait to finally have you here."
"I can't wait to be there."
"I want you to be the first one I see when getting out of the car." He spoke and Jo smiled looking down.
"I love you."
"I love you too. To infinity my love." He spoke and Jo's heart skipped a beat. "I'll send you your ticket, it's first class. Someone's picking you up at the airport and bringing you to the hotel."
"Wow, so fancy." She joked and Charles chuckled. "I'll see you tomorrow." She held the phone tightly.
"See you tomorrow mon amour."
She hung up and did a little victory dance.
"What happened?" Nash asked chuckling amused.
"I'm going to see him race. Like from the garage." Jo spoke excited and Nash smiled softly.
"That's amazing Jo."
"I know." She bit her under lip slightly, a huge smile on her face.
[...]
Jo was looking out the window with a smile. She watched the trees filled with flowers, the people walking on the sidewalk, some where wearing F1 merch.
"How long until we get there?" Jo asked impatient and the driver looked at her through the rear view mirror.
"About 5 minutes but probably 15 with the traffic." He replied and Jo smiled at him.
They stopped at the traffic and Jo tapped her foot still looking out the window.
Charles was in his hotel room getting ready. He kept looking out the window expectantly. He sighed when he looked out and still didn't see any signs of his Jo.
He brushed his hair with his fingers. His phone rang and he pulled it out of his pocket looking at the name.
It was Carlos. He answered it, putting the phone on his ear.
"Hey mate."
"Mate, where are you?" Carlos asked.
"I am at my hotel."
"Still? You weren't at the meeting." Carlos spoke walking through the motor home.
"I know, I let the team know." Charles replied.
"Wow, thank you for letting me know." Carlos put his hand on his chest and Charles chuckled at his drama. "Why did you miss it?" He asked.
"I'm waiting for Jo to arrive." He replied and Carlos stopped on his tracks when he heard those words.
"Jo? Really?" He smiled excited for his friend.
"Yeah, I convinced Silvia." Charles chuckled proudly.
"The Leclerc charm." Carlos joked and Charles laughed. "I'll see you in a while."
"Yeah mate."
"Enjoy and use protection." Carlos joked, earning a few glares of the Ferrari personnel but not giving it importance.
"Shut up." Charles laughed and Carlos laughed.
The car finally stopped. The driver opened the door for Jo.
"Thank you." She smiled and walked towards the vault.
"I'll get your luggage, don't worry Ms. Lexington." He spoke and she raised her eyebrows.
"Oh, thank you so much." She smiled and he nodded.
She walked towards the entrance, not noticing a group of girls pointing at her, recognizing her form her shows.
"Is that her?" One girl whispered.
"I think it is." Another whispered back.
"Hey, can I get a picture?" A girl asked and Jo looked at her.
"With...me?" She asked genuinely surprised, pointing at herself.
"You're Jocelyn, right?" The girl asked and a huge smile appeared on Jo's face.
"Yeah, yeah, sorry. Of course." She spoke excited.
The girl pulled out her phone snapping a selfie.
"Thank you so much, you're amazing." The girl told her and she chuckled softly putting her hand on her chest.
"Thank you, you're so kind." She grabbed her hand softly and the girl chuckled.
Jo walked towards the entrance still waving at the girl. She opened the door, the driver carrying her luggage behind her.
"Mr. Leclerc is waiting for you at the suite." He spoke guiding her towards the elevator.
"The suite?" Jo raised her eyebrows. "Nice." She spoke and the driver chuckled as the doors closed.
Charles heard a knock at the door and almost ran towards the door. He opened it and saw Jo. He immediately wrapped his arms around her, not being able to hide the excitement of seeing her.
The driver brought Jo's suitcase and left it in a corner.
"Thank you." Charles and Jo thanked him.
"You're welcome." He smiled before walking out, closing the door behind him.
Jo and Charles looked at the door and then at each other.
"We have..." Charles looked at his watch. "20 minutes." He spoke and Jo chuckled.
"Let's make them count." Jo pulled his shirt kissing him.
Charles smiled in between the kiss, placing his hands on her waist. Jo increased the pace of the kiss and Charles slipped his hands lower.
"Against the wall or on the floor?" He asked in a whisper.
"Why not on the comfy bed?" Jo joked and Charles chuckled. "On the carpet, it looks comfy." She scrunched her nose.
"You're so cute." Charles put his hands on her face and she chuckled.
They went in for a kiss again. They walked back and Jo kicked her heels off, feeling the soft carpet with her feet. Jo pulled Charles down with her, pulling him on top of her.
She pulled his shirt and he broke the kiss for a second to take it off. He went in to kiss her again and pulled down the zipper of Jo's dress. He started kissing her neck, digging his teeth.
Jo moaned softly, passing her hands through his hair. He slipped the dress off her shoulders and started placing kissed all the way from her neck to her breasts.
Jo pulled him in desperately. Charles slipped his hands up and down her thighs and she dug her nails in his back.
"Just do it already." She pulled his belt and Charles scoffed.
"So bossy." He smiled against her lips and she smiled.
Charles grabbed a condom from his back pocket. Jo took her underwear off as Charles put the condom on. He placed himself on top of her and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Tell me when it's in." He whispered and Jo moaned.
"It's definitely in." She whispered breathlessly and smiled.
Charles pushed her hair out of her face and thrusted in her. He thrusted repeatedly at a slow pace. Jo moaned digging his nails in his back as he increased the pace.
Moans echoed in the room.
"Oh my God." She moaned loudly and Charles grabbed her face.
"Fuck." He moaned as he thrusted in her harder.
They both finished and breathed heavily. Charles went in to kiss Jo.
"I'm always so scared of not seeing you in so long." Jo admitted.
"Why?" Charles furrowed his brows, caressing her cheek.
"I thought we'd loose our connection. Like the physical one." She spoke and Charles looked down.
"I'm still in you." He chuckled looking back at her and Jo chuckled softly going in to kiss him.
[...]
Charles was already at the garage. Jo had to walk in after he did to not be obvious.
She looked at her pass as she walked alongside Joris and Marta.
"Oh, so sad that Nash and Rose couldn't come." Marta spoke.
"I know, Rose is launching her new collection and Nash had "royal duties." Jo made quotation marks with her fingers and they laughed.
"I definitely need to check out Rose's collection." Marta spoke.
"Wait? Nash is of royal descent?" Joris asked surprised and Jo laughed.
"He's a Van Doren." Marta replied raising her eyebrows.
"Even if he doesn't look like it." Jo joked and they laughed.
They walked in the paddock, scanning their passes.
Charles was talking with his engineers. He kept looking at the entrance waiting for Jo to get there.
"Charles?" His engineer called him and he looked back at him. "Are you with me?" He asked and Charles nodded.
"Yeah, sorry." He shook his head snapping back to reality. "What were you saying?" He asked and the engineer resisted the urge to sigh.
Jo finally walked in, taking every ounce of Charles' attention.
"Jo." Charles smiled and almost ran towards her with a huge smile on his face.
Jo smiled looking at him. Charles stopped abruptly, a hand on his chest.
"Discrete." Silvia spoke in between her teeth and Charles looked at her and then at Jo.
Jo pursed her lips in a smile and just waved. Charles waved back.
"Just give it time." Silvia tried comforting him when she saw his expression.
"Okay." Charles mumbled.
He looked at Jo and his eyes glistened when he saw her smiling and grabbing a set of red headphones.
[...]
The race ended for Leclerc early. An ending full of frustration he let out on his team radio which he forgot to turn off.
"No!"
Jo flinched at the sound of his scream and closed her eyes sighing. She saw him walking in the garage with his head low. She wanted to run to him but she just clenched her fists resisting the urge to.
She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around seeing Marta. She smiled softly at her as she placed her hand over hers.
"We should get to the hotel so you can be there when he arrives." Joris spoke. "You're to only one who can comfort him right now JoJo." He wrapped her arm around her and she smiled softly.
[...]
Charles opened the hotel's door and immediately felt a pair of arms wrap around his neck. He closed his eyes sighing in relief and wrapped her arms around Jo's waist.
"Can you sing me the song?" Charles asked in a whisper.
"Will that make you feel better?" Jo asked putting her hand on Charles' face.
"Yes." He replied and Jo smiled and placed a soft kiss on his lips grabbing his hand.
She led him to the piano that was by the window of the big suite. She sat down placing her hands over the piano. Charles watched her attentively, his eyes shifting between her hands and her lips.
"Oh. We almost got away, we cut it close. The city's getting loud if I choke, it's only 'cause I'm scared to be alone." She sang and Charles smiled looking at her.
He leaned his head on her shoulder softly, being careful to not put his whole weight on her.
"I would do whatever you wanted. We don't have to leave the apartment. Met you at the right time. This is what it feels like." She sang smiling softly as she looked down at Charles.
"I can't wait for the world to hear your song." He spoke and Jo chuckled softly looking down.
"You were the first to hear it." She leaned closer to him. "And then muse." She bit her under lip slightly and he chuckled.
"Am I your muse?" He asked and Jo tilted her head.
"Maybe." She joked and Charles leaned in to place a soft kiss on her lips. "I know what'll make you feel better." She put her hands on his face. "Vanilla cake. We can order some."
"None is as good as yours." He pouted and Jo chuckled softly.
"We can watch a movie and cuddle and sleep." She fixed his hair with her hands.
"I like that. Sounds nice." He smiled looking at her.
Her eyes crinkled up, her rosy lips curved in a smile, her brown eyes glistening as a strand of her brunette hair fell in front of them. She was the most wonderful girl he had ever seen.
"I feel like you're the love of my life Jo." He admitted in a whisper and Jo scrunched her brows, her features relaxing.
"Really?" Her heart pounded against her chest, like a loud knock on a door. Charles nodded and Jo felt like her heart would jump out of her chest. "You feel like the love of my life too." She whispered and Charles smiled.
"I love you." He leaned in to kiss her, she put her hands on his face. "To infinity." He added before kissing her and she giggled.
[...]
Nash's royal duties had ended up in him getting drunk with his cousins at a really elegant place. He started feeling dizzy so he went out of the crowded place to get away from so many posh people.
He sat down won the white marble stairs, a bottle of champagne in his hands. He almost lost his balance and fell down.
"Holy shit." He cursed under his breath, placing the bottle besides him.
He took a deep breath pushing his hair out of his face and rested his forehead on his hands. His phone rang and he jumped startled.
It was his mom.
He sighed and answered it putting it on his ear.
"Hey mom." He answered trying to sound normal.
"Nash, where are you sweetheart? Your dad wants you to meet someone." She spoke and Nash chuckled.
"I don't want to meet another royal girl with a royally horrible personality." He joked and his mom chuckled.
"Where are you?"
"I'm outside, just...hanging around." He squinted scratching the back of his head.
"Are you drunk?"
"Mother." He pretended to sound offended.
"Ask the driver to take you home."
"Nah, I'll just call Rose but thanks mom." He spoke.
"Fine. Say hi to her from me."
"She'll faint." He joked and his mom chuckled.
"Take care."
"Love you mom."
"Love you too."
He hung up and threw his head back, this action making him feel dizzier. He grabbed the bottle of champagne and took a long sip before looking for Rose's contact.
The line rang as he waited for her to pick up.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Rosy-Rose,"
"Ugh, don't tell me you're drunk again." She whined and Nash clicked his tongue.
"Fine, I won't tell you."
"Send me the address and I'll be there in a bit." She answered.
"You're the best."
"I know, I know." She sighed and Nash chuckled before hanging up.
He immediately sent her his location. He then went into his photo gallery, bad idea when he was at this state.
His eyes focusing on an album.
JoJo 💛
The yellow friendship heart making him want to throw up. He clicked it and saw many pictures of the brunette. Her smile making him unconsciously smile.
How stupid can one be to fall in love with their best friend?
He knew everything about her. He knew her favorite color was mint green, she tried ballet but lastly decided to gymnastics because it was more badass, she loved Pride & Prejudice and used to have a huge crush on Mr. Darcy when she was little. She liked...no, she loved dahlias.
She liked people remembering small details about her so he always did. Like when she turned up the volume of the TV it had to be on an even number or she'd freak out or that she always puts little stickers on her song diary when she likes how a song turned out.
He knew she had an amazing voice and stage presence but deep inside she was shy and reserved about her passion for music.
Nash thought she was amazing. Maybe even the most amazing girl in the world. To him, she was.
He also knew she was in love with someone else, someone who made her happy, he wasn't that someone.
He also knew that.
He saw car lights and squinted.
"Get in loser." He immediately recognized Rose's voice and stood up, grabbing the champagne bottle.
He got in the car and Rose looked at him, her smile fading when she noticed the expression on his face. He looked like he was just hit by a train or in Nash's case, by reality.
"Are you okay, Nash?" Rose asked and he nodded.
"Yeah." He mumbled and took a long sip of the bottle.
Rose pursed her lips, understanding he didn't want to talk about it. She stepped on the gas as Nash took another sip of the bottle.
[...]
Rose helped Nash sit down on the black couch of his apartment. He groaned as he laid his head back and took another long sip of the bottle.
"What are you even drinking?" Rose snatched the bottle from his hands.
"Hey, that's mine." He whined like a little kid, reaching his hand out, it flopping down on the couch after just grabbing air.
"This is probably more expensive than my apartment." Rose spoke as she walked towards a table, placing the bottle on it to get it as far away from Nash as he could.
"What do you think Jo is doing right now?" Nash let out and Rose shrugged.
"Sleeping." She replied, not giving it importance.
"Do you think Charles is lying down beside her?" He asked and Rose arched an eyebrows.
"Most likely." She replied walking towards the kitchen and grabbing a glass to fill it with water.
She walked back into the living room and handed the glass to Nash. He grabbed it, barely holding it as he kept staring at the ceiling.
"Rose." He called her and she replied with a hum. "I think I like Jo." He admitted and Rose furrowed her brows.
"I know, she's your friend."
"Rose." Nash whispered and Rose sighed closing her eyes.
"I know, Nash, I noticed." She spoke and Nash raised his eyebrows, looking at her.
"Am I that obvious?" He asked and Rose pursed her lips nodding. "What am I supposed to do?" He asked frustrated, covering his face with his hands.
"Nothing." Rose replied and Nash looked at her confused. "She's in love with Charles. She's happy and you make her happy too, by being her best friend."
"But I love her." Nash took a deep breath. "And I want her to be happy but I can't help but love her. It physically aches not being able to tell her how I feel." Nash spoke and Rose's features softened at his genuine words. "It hurts...right here." He whispered putting his hand on the left side of his chest, right where his heart was.
"Oh Nash." Rose rubbed his back.
"Please don't tell anyone." He looked at her with begging eyes, glistening with the tears forming in them.
"Of course not, Nash. I would never." Rose spoke in a soft tone. "Come here." She whispered before pulling him in a hug.
Nash wrapped his arms around Rose who rubbed his back comforting his best friend. His best friend with a broken heart.
[...]
Back at the hotel at Le Castellet, Charles and Jo ate as many slices as they could have the vanilla cake.
"This is good." Charles spoke with his mouth full as the scary movie played in the background.
"Is it?" Jo chuckled amused, happy to see him smiling.
"Not as good as yours baby." He leaned in to give her a short peck. He sneakily smudged his finger in the cake to then smudge it in the tip of Jo's nose.
Jo giggled pushing his hand away, making him laugh.
"Stop." She chuckled and sent a glare his way as he laughed, her smile not disappearing.
"I'm sorry mon amour." He put his hand on her face. He leaned in and gave her a short kiss to then lick the cake off her nose.
Jo chuckled scrunching her nose and went in to kiss him. Her phone buzzed and she broke the kiss to look at it.
"Who is it?" Charles asked as he took another bite of the cake.
"It's the producer. He wants to talk about promotion for the song before it launches." Jo spoke as she looked at her phone. "He says that if the song is good I could get an amazing record deal." She smiled and Charles smiled looking at her proudly.
"Then you'll get it."
"You think so?"
"Easy." He emphasized the word and Jo chuckled. "You already got hundred thousands of followers and you haven't released a song." He raised his eyebrows. "You're meant to be a star." He grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers.
Jo smiled and titled her head, slightly blushing.
"I love you." She whispered.
"I love you too. To infinity." He smiled leaning in to kiss her and she smiled putting her hands on his face.
Jo was hoping that she became a success, not only for her and her dreams, deep down she believed that if she became a pop star she would be important enough to publicly date Charles Leclerc.
