Breakin' dishes when you're disappointed
F1 was in Monaco, which meant Charles was gonna be there too. All the attention was gonna be on him, the home hero, Monaco's golden boy.
"Charles!"
"Charles s'il vous plait!"
"Charles!"
Charles was wearing dark shades. He signed a few caps and took selfies. He was at the entrance of his building. Jo looked out the window, hearing the commotion, she was careful not to be seen. She smiled softly when she saw him.
Charles made his way up and before he could unlock the door, this one swung open. He chuckled when Jo jumped into his arms. He spun her around and kissed her, wrapping his arm around her waist.
"How are you my love?" He whispered smiling against Jo's lips.
"Better now." She smiled. "I made vanilla cake. This time on my own." She spoke walking towards the kitchen and Charles followed her with his eyes.
"Did you?" He asked and she bit her under lip slightly.
"Maybe Pascale helped me a bit." She squinted and Charles laughed. "She said she'd be here in a few." She added as she cut a slice of the cake.
"Oh, I told her I'd see her at the hairdresser. I want to get a haircut." Charles spoke as he walked towards the kitchen. "Thank you." He kissed Jo's cheek as she gave him the plate with the cake.
"I could go with you." She spoke as Charles tried the cake.
"It's too crowded baby. Maybe it's for the best if you stay in for a couple of hours." He spoke and Jo's smiled faded.
"Oh." She whispered.
Charles immediately put the cake on the counter when he saw her smile drop. He grabbed her hands gently.
"Hey, we can stay in and watch a movie after. We don't have to leave the apartment, right?" He spoke in a soft tone and Jo chuckled softly looking down.
"Did you just use a line from my song?" She asked tilting her head and he chuckled.
"I love your song." He relief and she looked up at him.
"Well then you're gonna love the news I have." Jo spoke and Charles looked at her attentively. "I sent it to the discography and they told me it was great." She spoke and Charles smiled excited.
"I knew it." He put his hands on her shoulders.
"And I'm also doing a show in a local bar. They told me it would be good to put myself out there." She spoke scrunching her nose.
Charles chuckled and pulled her in a hug.
"I'm so proud of you." He chuckled and looked at her. "When?" He asked rubbing her cheek softly with his thumb.
"Tomorrow night." She replied. "You obviously got front row seats. And you can bring your mom, Arthur, Lorenzo, Carlos, Max, Lando, Joris, Pierre, Andrea and whoever you like." She added as her eyes switched from his eyes to his lips.
"We wouldn't lose it." He smiled and she chuckled leaning in to kiss him.
"I love you." She whispered putting her hand on his cheek.
"I love you too." He whispered. "To infinity." He added and Jo chuckled softly.
[...]
"So you're dating a superstar?" Joris asked as they walked in the bar.
"Mate, she's for real an amazing singer. I've heard her." Arthur replied and Joris raised his eyebrows.
"I've never heard her sing." Carlos spoke.
"She's amazing." Nash spoke smiling.
"She is." Charles smiled. "I've been helping her compose a song and she's amazing. Talent out of this world." He smiled fondly at just the thought of her.
"Someone's in love." Pierre teased him.
"Oh, you haven't seen nothing. He's always looking at her with heart eyes." Lorenzo spoke and everyone laughed.
Joris and Andrea poked Charles' ribs, teasing him and making him laugh.
"Where's mom?" Charles asked looking around.
"Mama Leclerc got lost in the bar." Pierre pointed at the bar and everyone laughed.
Pascale walked back to then holding two drinks.
"This pina colada is amazing." She took a sip. "Mmm." She nodded. "Does anyone want one?" She asked looking around.
"I'll take it." Nash raised his hand and Pascale smiled handing him the drink. "Thank you." He smiled. "Cheers." They clinked drink.
"Cheers." Pascale took a sip. "Where's my girl, Jo?" She asked looking around.
"She's performing in 5 minutes." Charles replied looking at his watch.
Jo stood backstage. She took a deep breath trying to calm her nerves.
"You're gonna do amazing Jo, just breathe." Rose tried calming her down.
"What if I screw up?" She asked nervous.
"Jo, you have talent. Show it to the world superstar." She rubbed her shoulder and Jo smiled.
"Jocelyn, you're out in 2." A man informed her and she nodded letting out a breath of air.
"You got this, okay?" Rose encouraged her. "I love you." She pulled her in a hug.
"I love you too Rosie-Rose." Jo melted into the hug.
"I'm so proud of you. You're gonna do great, I know it." Rose blew a kiss at her and she smiled.
She walked away with the others.
"Rosie-Rose, there you are." Lando smiled when he saw her.
"Heyyy." She smiled giving him a short hug.
"How is she?" Charles asked.
"Nervous, obviously but she's gonna do amazing." She replied.
The lights turned off and everyone looked at the front. Jo's heart was beating at a quick pace, it felt like it was going to jump out of her chest. Her stomach turned as she gripped her guitar.
"Hello Monaco, please welcome Jocelyn Lexington." The presented introduced her and everyone clapped.
"Wooo! Come on Jo!" Nash yelled using his hands as a megaphone.
Everyone cheered as she walked in the stage with a smile on her face. She placed herself in front of the microphone. She looked at the crowd and saw Charles. She chuckled softly and waved at him discretely. He discretely waved back, a fond smile on his face.
"Goodnight to everyone. You probably don't know me as it is my first time ever singing in front of a crowd so...I'm terrified as fuck." She spoke and everyone laughed. "I'm gonna sing one of my favorite songs, The Adults are Talking by The Strokes, hope you like it 'cause I fucking love this song. And as you can see I curse a lot when I get nervous." She spoke and everyone laughed again.
Charles chuckled clapping as everyone cheered when the music started playing.
"They've been sayin', "You're sophisticated". They're complainin', overeducated." She started singing and looked around with a smile when she saw everyone enjoying her singing.
"Wow, she's amazing." Max smiled raising his eyebrow.
"I need to record this for her mom." Nash put the camera up with a smile on his face.
"They will blame us, crucify and shame us. We can't help it if we are a problem." She shrugged as she sang, following the lyrics.
Everyone clapped at the rhythm.
"I'm climbin' up your wall." She sang.
"Climbin' up your wall." Everyone sang along and she did a little spin, adrenaline filling her body.
"Don't go there 'cause you'll never return. I know you think of me when you think of her." She walked towards the band and leaned on the drums.
The drummer smiled and chuckled at her.
"And then you did something wrong..." She raised the microphone on the air.
"And you said it was great!" Everyone yelled and she smiled proudly.
Charles chuckled as she saw her dance around the stage. She looked like she belonged there. Nash looked over the camera, noticing Jo's huge smile and genuine happiness. He smiled softly.
"But then you want me to do it the same as you." Carlos and Lando sang along, hugging each other and dancing.
"Mate, your girlfriend is an absolute rockstar." Joris chuckled shaking Charles' shoulders and he chuckled.
Rose looked at he friend proudly. Lando grabbed her hand and spun her around, she chuckled dancing as Jo sang. Everyone in the place was enjoying her singing, having an amazing time.
"Oh, maybe not tonight." She sang out of breath as the music ended.
The whole bar exploded into clapping and cheering. She made a reverence and the clapping intensified.
"So now, who wants to hear an Arctic Monkeys song?" She asked and everyone cheered and clapped, yelling and whistling too.

Everyone was congratulating Jo backstage.
"You handled the crowd like a pro, honestly." Lando spoke and Jo chuckled.
"Thank you." She shrugged smiling proudly.
"You're a superstar honey." Pascale pinched her cheek and she smiled.
"You're already getting posted everywhere." Arthur spoke looking at his phone.
She showed her many Insta stories where she appeared singing. She chuckled excited.
"Wait, your account is private?" Arthur asked and everyone looked at her.
"I've told her many times." Rose spoke and Jo grimaced.
"We're changing that right now." Lando snatched her phone from her pocket.
"Hey." Jo tried to take it back.
Charles chuckled wrapping his arm around her.
"You need to put yourself out there. You're meant to be seen." Nash nudged her softly and she smiled.
"Done." Lando gave her the phone back and she rolled her eyes with a smile.

It was practice day. Jo had been watching Charles from Marta and Riccardo's apartment, Charles' friends. Joris, Nash, and Rose were there too.
But Charles wanted Jo with him in the garage. He wanted her to bed the first one he saw as soon as he got out of the car.
"Please, no one will see her." He followed Sylvia through the garage.
The redhead sighed and shook her head, denying once again. She was following direct orders, she would love to meet the girl that had the Charles Leclerc head over heels.
"Sylvia." He begged and she stopped turning around to face him.
"Charles, all the eyes are on you right now." She spoke shrugging. "I can't, I'm sorry. Believe me, I would love to have her here." She added pursing her lips.
"Who's making these decisions? I want to speak with them." Charles kept insisting.
"The whole team." Sylvia replied.
"Then we'll have a meeting."
"Charles, it's a race weekend. Excuse me but we have more important things to discuss." She spoke trying to reason with him.
"I want her here." He sighed with frustration.
"I know." Sylvia looked at him sadly. "Charles, just give it a season or maybe even half, okay?" She put her hand on his shoulder and he nodded.
"Then who's getting the passes?" He asked and Sylvia looked at her hardboard.
"Businessmen, APM Monaco ambassadors, and your mother." She replied and Charles forced a smile nodding.
"Alright." He patted Sylvia's hand and walked away defeated.
Sylvia followed him with her eyes and pursed her lips sighing. She walked towards Mia who was speaking with Binotto.
"Mia." She called her and she turned around.
"Hey Sylvia." She smiled.
"Mattia." Sylvia greeted him and he nodded his head politely. "I was thinking, would it be so bad if Charles brought her to the garage tomorrow?" She asked.
"Who?" Mattia asked.
"His girlfriend." Sylvia replied. "The poor boy has been wailing the entire day."
"Sylvia, we've talked about this. It was a group agreement." Mia spoke and Sylvia shrugged.
"I agree, it's better if Charles focuses on winning right now. All eyes are on him, the fanatics don't miss any details." Mattia added.
"Fine, I just wouldn't want that affecting his driving." She spoke and Mattia crossed his arms in front of his chest.
"On the contrary." He replied.
"Fine." Sylvia mumbled defeated.

Charles had stayed late at the garage, he was analyzing some data for tomorrow's qualifying. It was really important to him.
His phone rang and he looked at it.
Jojo ❤️
He immediately answered, putting the phone on his ear.
"Hey love." He answered before she could.
"Hey." Her sweet voice sounded like music to his ears. "How are the graphs and tables going?" She joked and Charles chuckled softly.
"Really fun." Sarcasm dripped from his tone, Jo giggled. "Where are you? At you at my apartment?" He asked.
"No, I'm at my place. I didn't want to risk being seen in your apartment." She replied and Charles felt a sadness hit him.
He went silent.
"Charles?" Jo called him, pulling him back from his thoughts.
"I'm sorry. I just hate that we have to hide." He spoke.
"Me too." Jo admitted.
"I tried to get you a pass today but it didn't work."
"Hey, at least you tried." She chuckled softly tried to lighten up the mood.
"Yeah." He let out air through his nose. "Will you be supporting me tomorrow?" He asked and Jo smiled.
"No, I'll be cheering for Max." Jo joked and Charles laughed. Jo laughed along. "I love you." She spoke as her laughter faded.
"I love you too." He smiled as he swung the rolling chair. "To infinity." He added and Jo chuckled softly looking down.

It was quali day. Jo was seating on the balcony. A clear view to the track and a TV on the side so she wouldn't miss a single detail. She was seated next to Nash.
"Here." Marta handed Jo a glass of wine.
"Oh, I'm fine." She spoke and Marta shook her head.
"You'll need it for the nerves." She spoke and Jo chuckled grabbing the glass.
"Thank you. Cheers." She smiled.
"Cheers." They clinked their glasses and took a sip.
"Do you think Charles will get the pole?" Riccardo asked and Marta shrugged.
"I hope so." She admitted nervously.
"He will." Nash assured. "Just watch." He crossed his arms.
"And that's perfect." Joris spoke as Rose and him finished hanging a huge sign to the balcony's railing.
#16 GO Charles!
"Let's hope it's not crooked." Rose grimaced and Joris nodded.
"We did great."
"We did." She chuckled and they high-fived.
"There's Charles." Marta pointed at the TV and Jo smiled at the sight of him.
Her smile faded as she saw him talking with a brunette girl. She was wearing a pass as a special guest for Ferrari.
Their names appeared on the screen.
Charles Leclerc
F1 Driver for Ferrari
Jean Auclair
Model/Influencer
Nash noticed Jo's smiled fading and nudged her slightly.
"Hey, it's nothing. She's just a guest." He whispered and Jo forced a smile.
"Yeah, I know." She tried to shake it off.
She looked back at the screen and swallowed hard when she saw them laugh. She touched his shoulder and she felt her chest burn.
"Who's that?" Marta scrunched her nose.
"Oh I know her, I follow her. She's an influencer." Rose replied looking at her phone.
She showed Marta her phone.
"APM Monaco, so that's why she's there." Marta raised her eyebrows.
Joris and her exchanged looks and he shook his head. Marta shrugged rolling her eyes.
The qualifying started. Q1, Q2, and finally Q3. Charles was giving his last flying lap. Jo stood up from the couch looking at the screen. She heard the loud cheering and the engines roar. She felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest.
"Come on man, come on." Joris rested his chin on his hands.
"Oh my God, I don't want to look." Marta covered her eyes and Riccardo chuckled softly rubbing her back.
"Oh God." Rose mumbled.
"Please, please." Jo whispered and Nash held her hand trying to calm her nerves. "Please." She whispered gripping Nash's hand.
Charles crossed the line and his name went to the top spot.
"Yes!" Everyone yelled with excitement.
The group of turned exploded into cheers as the cheering from the crowd was heard. They hugged each other, celebrating Charles' pole position.
"He made it!" Marta yelled excited as she hugged Jo, jumping up and down.
"I told you he would." Nash clapped and Joris patted his back smiling widely.
Jo turned to the TV and saw Charles getting off his car. He went to the team and hugged them. Her heart dropped when she saw Jean between the crowd.
"What is she doing there?" Marta made a face of clear annoyance.
Rose and her gasped when Charles hugged the brunette on live television. She congratulated him and he nodded smiling.
"What the fuck?" Joris let out.
Jo felt a burning pain on her chest. She swallowed hard trying to get rid of the knot in her throat.
"Are you okay Jojo?" Rose asked rubbing her back and she nodded, not being able to reply.
"I have to go to dinner with Charles." She replied keeping a serious expression. "I'll see you tomorrow for the race." She forced a smile.
"Thank you for being here, honey." Marta hugged her, giving him a soft smile.
"Thank you for having me." Her heart felt like jumping out of her chest, her stomach still turning as she remembered the scene.
"Do you want me to take you?" Nash asked and she shook her head.
"I'm good, thank you." She hugged him and Nash sighed rubbing her back.
She let go and walked towards the door. Everyone watched her walk away and then looked at each other.
"Why would Charles do that? That's fucking stupid." Marta spoke as soon as Jo left.
"It's fucked up." Rose added shaking her head.
"He got carried away." Joris spoke. "Stupid." He added.
"Poor Jo looked so hurt." Marta pursed her lips.
Nash kept looking at the door. He had not taken his eyes off it since Jo walked out. He fidgeted with his ring.

Charles and Jo were having dinner at his apartment. Charles immediately noticed something was off. Jo wasn't her usual bubbly self, she hadn't even congratulated him.
The dinner was awkward, unlike all of their other dinners together. Those were filled with laughter and jokes.
Charles was washing the dishes. Jo grabbed a plate and opened the trash can to throw away the excess food.
"Jo." Charles finally called her. She replied with a hum, not even looking at him. She was hurt. "Are you mad at me?" He asked and Jo sighed and put the plate in the sink, not answering his question. "Jo." He called her again as he grabbed another plate to wash it.
"I am." She replied and he furrowed his brows.
"Why?" He asked genuinely confused.
"Jean Auclair." She replied and Charles closed his eyes for a second, finally connecting the dots. "What was she doing there?"
"She's there because she works with APM Monaco baby, just like me, just that." He assured and Jo chuckled cynically.
"You hugged her Charles. On fucking live television." She spoke annoyed, sounding more hurt than she wanted to.
"I'm sorry." He spoke as he rinsed the plate. "She was invited as a..."
"I know Charles. As a fucking ambassador, as an important person, I get it, I know that. I didn't forget that you need to be important to get invited to that stuff even when your boyfriend is the driver of the freaking team." Jo ranted, finally letting out all the things she had been keeping. Charles furrowed his brows, his chest rising up and down. "Forgive me for not being on your level!" She yelled with sarcasm on her tone.
Charles dropped the plates abruptly. These made a loud bang noise, breaking into pieces. Jo jumped slightly, frightened by the sudden movement.
He turned off the sink, gripping the faucet. There was a short silence but a loud one.
"I have told you so many times how much I wish you could be there with me, Jo." He spoke turning to face her. "Why won't you believe me?" He asked frustrated and Jo went silent. "I fucked up by hugging her, I'm sorry. But I don't want to hear you saying you're on a lower level. That's not true Jo." He spoke and Jo put her hands on her face.
She felt tears forming in her eyes and took her hands off her face. Charles saw her teary eyes and his features softened.
"I think..." She sniffed. "I think we need new dishes." She joked chuckling softly in between tears.
Charles smiled softly, letting out a soft chuckle at her joke. He pulled her in a hug, wrapping his arms around her.
"I love you Jo." He whispered placing a soft kiss on the top of her head. "To infinity." He added and she smiled softly as a tear slipped down her cheek.
