A Winter's Ball

John's POV
I stood in front of the mirror in my bathroom and sighed. I smoothed out my shirt before tying my black tie around my collar.

Alex eventually came into the bathroom and wrapped his arms around my waist. He placed his head in the crook of my neck and lightly kissed the skin.

"You look amazing Babe."

I spun myself around so that I was facing him. I ran a hand through his hair which had not yet been put up.

"You look amazing too Peaches." I kissed his nose and hugged him.

"Peaches?"

"Don't ask. Now, let's do something about that hair of yours."

He laughed but sat down on at the vanity I had in my bathroom. I swear I had one of the world's biggest bathrooms.

Using hairspray and a hair tie, I neatly pulled back his hair into a slick ponytail. Once it was finished, he carefully touched it and smiled.

"Thanks John."

"No problem Lex."
(Time skip to the ball)
From my bedroom, two floors up from the main floor, I could hear guests arriving. I pulled out my phone and let my dad know we were ready.

I had to take a back way with Alex to get the the main staircase without being seen. Once we got to it, we waited for my dad. I heard his booming voice over the crowd and everyone fell silent.

"I want to welcome you all to the annual Winter Ball. It's always a pleasure to see new and old faces every year. I don't want to waste your time much longer. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, John Laurens and Alexander Hamilton!"

Alex and I interlocked arms while holding hands. We descended from the staircase and walked down the line of people while they clapped and cheered. Once we reached the end, I hugged my dad and Alex did the same as well.

The guests stood around in a circle around the ballroom floor as Alex and I walked toward the middle. As we reached the middle, I put my arms around his waist and I took his hand. I lifted it up as he placed his other hand on my shoulder. 'Moonlight Sonata' began playing and Alex seemed to relax a bit.

We swayed back and forth across the floor ever so gracefully. There'll be time where I dip him and spin around only to have him come right back to our beginning position. The music was dying down and Alex rested his head on my shoulder.

"I love you John."

"I love you too Alex." I kissed him and the guests cheered as my dad walked up to us.

"John and Alexander everybody! Now, let the ball begin!" My dad raised a champagne glass and took a sip from it. Afterwards, he turned and smiled really wide.

"John that was wonderful! All those dance lessons really helped you. And Alex, you were spectacular too! I'm so proud of my boys! I can't wait to hear ya'll sing." He hugged both of us and we hugged back.

"Thanks dad." He gave my a quick hug before leaving.

"Alex, do mind if I get a glass of champagne?"

"Of course not, you're of age." I smiled and lead him to the bar.

The only time we ever had helpers was during a ball or party. I asked the bartender for a glass after showing him my license. He gave it to me and I thanked him.

Alex and I walked over to the table my dad was at and noticed a couple sitting with him.

"Dad? Mom?" Alex was shocked to see them here. Mr.Washington turned around, got up, and hugged Alex.

"Ah Alex. I should've known you'd be here with John. Hello."

"Hi Mr.Washington. What are you doing here?"

"Your father was just telling me about the upcoming presidential election. I plan on running." Alex's mouth fell open when he said 'plan on running'.

"Dad that's wonderful! When's the election?"

"In two years. We have to get a head start though."

"Alex, these are your parents?" Alex nodded and smiled like he was proud.

"Well, we're already here, might as well sit down." I sat down with Alex next to me and offered him a sip of my drink. He agreed and once he took a sip, his face lit up.

"I don't know how I feel about it. It's sweet but tangy. I'll just not drink anymore tonight."

"Good idea, Peaches."

Soon, we ordered some food and just sat together. I would steal kisses from him when he wasn't looking, that made him laugh. I was in the middle of a conversation with Alex when my dad spoke.

"Attention everyone, as a bit of entertainment for the night, John and Alex have agreed to singing some arrangements for us. Boys, the floor is yours."

I looked at my dad only to have him nod. I softly grabbed Alex's hand and we walked onto the floor. Once we did, we were handed mics with stands. I quickly ran to the DJ and told him our songs. The opening of the first song played and I began singing.

Every single day
I walk down the street
I hear people say baby so sweet
Ever since puberty
Everybody stares at me
Boys, girls, I can't help it baby
So be kind and don't lose your mind
Just remember that I'm your baby

Take me for what I am
Who I was meant to be
And if you give a damn
Take me baby or leave me

I sang my second verse, looked at Alex, a gave him a smile.

It won't work
I look before I leap
I love margins and discipline
I make lists in my sleep, baby
What's my sin?
Never quit
I follow through
I hate mess but I love you
What to do with my impromptu baby?
So be wise cause this girl's satisfied!
You've got a prize who don't compromise
You're one lucky baby!

The rest of the song was us firing insults at each other and back. We finally hit the end note and sustained it for a long time. We finished and the crowd clapped for us as we bowed. I nodded to the DJ to play the next song. We sang and our voices fit perfectly together.

I fell in love with a beautiful boy
And he still takes my breath away
I fell in love in the morning sun while the hours slipped away
Sometimes when I hear your name
A smile creeps on my face
And for reasons I can't explain
It's never out of place

'Cause I love you
More than you think I do
And I love you
Now you don't want me too

Alex began to sing his verse very softly but gradually having my confidence.

You ran your finger down my back
And you spelled out your name
While we layed there on the soft warm ground
For a week and thirteen days

We ended up harmonizing this next part, it was angelic.

And I know that it's all so wrong
And you've heard all this before
I didn't come back and I wasn't there.
I won't trouble you no more

'Cause I love you
More than you think I do
And I love you
Now you don't want me to
Cause I love you
More than you think I do
And I love you
Now you don't want me to

Everytime I try to fight it
Everything just turns out wrong
Maybe if I got my timing right
I wouldn't end up alone.

Alex had one more verse and once he finished singing it, we jumped into the chorus one last time. The song ended and Alex smashed his lips into mine. The guests cheered really loud as my dad yelled over them.

"Give it up for Alex and John!" We bowed and walked off the stage as various people came up and told us how spectacular we were. We thanked them and sat down at our table.

"Best ball ever." I kissed Alex and he happily kissed back. Once he pulled away he rested his head on my shoulder and let his eyes closed. "Come on sleepy head."

I picked him up bridal style and carried him to my room. Once I laid him on the bed, he was fully awake.

"I'm not going to bed until we put our onesies on." I chuckled but grabbed both if our onesies out of the suitcase. He had penguin one and mine was a turtle. They were fucking adorable.

We both changed and I crawled under the covers into bed with him. I looked at my watch and saw that it read 12:01.

"Merry Christmas Alex." I kissed him only to have him reply and fall asleep.

"Merry Christmas John."
