Y/n and Ren stood in front of each other, both had six and a half inch staffs in their hands. The two readied their overly long staffs, the two stared each other down giving a tense atmosphere around the arena. Ren attacked first trying to strike Y/n but the Tiger blocked the attack and jabbed at Ren's torso knocking him back, Ren winced as he felt the pain coming from his side.

Y/n and Ren clashed the long staff as the sound of wood echoed in the room while the gang watched in silence. Ren then swung at him with great force causing Y/n's staff to break, Ren tried to strike Y/n but Y/n countered with a kick to the staff breaking it into two. The two stood in a standstill as the tension entered the air once again.

Pyrrha: "To think that it could get this serious"

Nora: "Ren never allows changes that disrupt culture as you can tell and isn't afraid to take on anyone who does"

Y/n pat his shin and shook the leg, Ren tossed the broken staff to the side.

Ren: "We aren't done yet!"

Ren took out a set of butterfly swords from the weapon display, Y/n took out his own. The two butterfly knives were very different from each other which showed their preferences.

Ren had a completely flat blade with a cloth grip.

Y/n had a blade with a spine on the back with a wooden handle.

Ren and Y/n stood another standstill, the two circled each other slowly and carefully each other. The two then went at each other as blades clanged and clashed against each other, the two Wing Chun practitioners parried and counter attacked each other. The audience in the other hand only saw blurs and sparks from the two martial artists, Y/n and Ren clashed their swords together and went into a stare down.

Ren and Y/n then started to maneuver their swords to parry and attack, Y/n the caught both swords with the braces of his sword and kicked the other one out of Ren's hand. Ren then tried to stab his face causing Y/n to dodge it and catch his wrist with the other sword and disarmed Ren of his sword, Ren tried to kick Y/n but it was blocked with his elbow.

Y/n put away his sword and went into his usual stance, the two circles each other for a short time until Ren started throwing punches at Y/n. Y/n parried them and tried to feint Ren with a knife hand but Ren saw past it and tried to strike Y/n with an elbow to the face, Y/n then threw straight blast of his own which Ren parried effortlessly and the two clashed their arms together. Y/n and Ren exchanged parried and counter attacks.

Ren then kicked at Y/n's knee using an oblique kick staggering him, Ren then tried to use the biu jee fighter jab to Y/n's eye. Y/n narrowly dodged the eye poke and used a side kick to create distance from him and Ren. Ren stood his ground with no trouble at all.

Ren: "I'm disappointed, I would think someone who goes against tradition would put up a better fight"

Y/n then started thinking what Ren meant, he then realized what he could to do get the upperhand. Y/n lowered his hands and started to bounce becoming light on his feet, Y/n circled around slowly as Ren stayed put in his orthodox Wing Chun stance. Y/n then came in with a front kick which Ren was able to parry which led to Y/n to start using his boxing skills against Ren, Y/n threw quick jabs which Ren started to block and devastating uppercuts to Ren's torso.

The Tiger then started breaking down his roots by throwing hard kicks to the legs, Ren felt the brutal conditioned kicks weaken his legs. Ren tried to check the kicks by blocking with his shin but Y/n was able to counter that by kicking a hard kick to Ren's calf weakening his leg more. Ren started to stumble as he was still on guard, Y/n feinted a front kick and threw a roundhouse kick to Ren's head.

Ren got up catching his breath, Y/n skipped his foot waiting for Ren to attack. Ren threw a straight punch which Y/n parried and went for a a straight blast that Y/n blocked, he knew Ren won't stop so he had to make him submit.

Y/n misdirected his left hand and trapped his right hand leaving his face open for a back fist and put him into a guillotine choke. Even in a chime Ren refused to surrender making Y/n choke him out, his stubbornness led to Pyrrha entering the arena and stopping the match herself. Ren started taking deep breaths as Y/n wiped the sweat off his head.

Ren: "You...win..."

Y/n walked up to Ren, he then swiftly grabbed his collar and pulled him to his face.

Y/n: "Insult my friends and my family again and I'll cripple you"

Y/n let go of Ren and left the arena, he felt the dark metamorphosis fill his mind. He needed to find the light before he is consumed by darkness, he doesn't know how long it will take but soon fate will decide whether he is corrupted by the snake, or rise like a crane.
