With only a week until his wedding and two days since Blaire had confessed her -his? god, this was confusing and weird- secret, Draco didn't see her around anywhere. His room continued to be cleaned, his clothes washed, but he never saw Blaire.

When he received the newspaper in the mail that morning, his father was grinning.

"Open it," he said. "Our kingdom is doing something about the rodents here."

Draco frowned slightly, they had never had a rodent problem in Durmstrang, but opened the newspaper anyway.

He almost dropped the newspaper on the floor in horror. 

The image depicted two boys, arms tied behind them against the wooden poles, fire burning away at the poles behind them and their legs.

Despite the horrible pain these two must have been enduring, the boys were desperately looking at each other with an expression of complete devotion and love, reliance on one another clear.

After being caught kissing, in public no less, villagers were quick to pull teenagers Seamus Finnegan and Dean Thomas apart, luckily, and enforced a fitting punishment for the boys and to discourage others for engaging in such disgusting and revolting acts. Six villagers tied the boys to wooden stakes and burned them alive. It is said from eyewitnesses that the two wouldn't break their eye contact until they were dead. 
"It was revolting," Bellatrix Lestrange said upon questioning. "We did what we had to do. People have to know this isn't okay."
"Why would they do something like that?" Seamus' mother said upon questioning. "Kissing another boy, and in public, for that matter? How fucked up can you be?"
"Revolting, utterly revolting," Vernon Dursley said. "Faggots deserve to burn."

Draco felt sick to his stomach, but forced a grin on his face as he looked at his father.

"Wonderful. Those images are a bit... graphic, though. Disturbing, really."

"Well, those pigs doing something like that in public is disturbing too," Lucius replied easily.

Draco forced himself to nod, and decided right then and there that he wanted to scream at everyone in his kingdom and wished that he had met the two boys before they had died. 

Maybe then he could have saved them.
