"Who knew it'd only take one day to control that power!" Kristen shouted with excitement.

Hop held her close, "Definitely not me."

Kristen slid away from the hug, now putting her pastel pink phone to her ear. Hop walked past making Kristen give him a questioning look. "Where are you going?"

A chuckle left his lips, "I rather ride the train, like the first time we rode the train, remember?"

"Oh, I'll ride the train too then." Kristen chimed, heading for the station. They entered, sitting across from each other.

Kristen was scrolling through her phone looking at who knows what. Hop did the same, except he'd glance at her every now and then. Kristen smiled, not taking her eyes off her phone as she spoke, "Take a picture, it'll last longer."

"W–what?"

"You have my permission to." Kristen placed her phone down on the small squared table. Hop didn't move or say anything. Kristen giggled as she took the phone from his hand, taking a picture. She returned it, leaving a smiling Hop. "You're welcome."

By the time they got off the train stars decorated the night sky. They walked in silence, but it was nice. The calm night was enjoyable as it always was in Potswick. Hop politely walked his friend to her house. Before she had the chance to walk up the steps, he grabbed onto hee wrist, "Wait! I— I want you to know something." Everything was on the line now. While thinking of what to say Hop started to wonder if the friendship Kristen and him shared was really worth the risk of telling her the truth.

"What is it?" Her soft, brown eyes met his yellow ones.

"I— I uh.. Know someone," he started nervously, "who has liked you. . . since they were seven. . There isn't a day that passes that he wishes he could just grab you and kiss you. Hold you, keep your soft hands warm with his. And—and. ." Hop noticed Kristen looking at him with a shocked expression. Her jaw slightly dropped open, staring at her friend with a pink flushed face. She immediately knew it was him considering there was no other boy she knew since they were seven besides Hop. "I—I'm sorry about this Kristen." The boy told her, pulling her closer, placing his hand on her face gingerly and pressed his lips against hers. Kristen, in return, hesitantly gave into the kiss, slowly wrapping her arms around his neck. Hop smiled into the kiss, putting a hand on her waist, suddenly being on the receiving end of a harsh push. He furrowed his brows with confusion.

"I'm so sorry. . but I c–can't. I–I shouldn't have kissed you! T–this is wrong! I'm s–so sor–sorry, Hop. I–I have to g–go now. ." She stumbled over her words, running into the house. The door slammed, making the small Bedews outside shudder.

"I'll see you tomorrow. . ?" His voice was strained. He sighed, running a shaky hand through his hair.

Kristen paced around her tidy room the next morning with only one thing on her mind: Hop. His tanned body, his almost perfect features, his bright, gleaming eyes, that were like the twinkling stars of the night, and his best feature, his heart-melting smile. Kristen had to talk to him. She had to get her mix feelings in check, not only that, she had to clear things up with Hop.

Kristen stood outside the labatory, inches away from the door. She held up her hand into a fist, about to knock, but something had stopped her. She was a nervous reck, her palms were damp simply from being so nervous. Finally mustering up the courage to knock, she did so, or tried to. Just as she was going to, the door slung open and was met with the smiling boy she couldn't get out of her head. "Hop!"

"Kristen!"

Both friends said each other's name in unison. "Listen Hop. . . We need to talk about the kiss. ." A glimmer of hope sparked in him forcing a smile to rest on his lips. That hope was extinguished, just as fast as it was sparked when he heard the seven dreadful words that followed, "Can we just pretend it didn't happen?" Hop laughed anxiously.

"You're kidding. . . right?"

"I'm not. . I just, my feelings are really mixed up now and I just can't deal with this right now. . So can we just pretend it didn't happen?"

Hop scoffed lightly, "Seriously? How can you ask me to just pretend that I didn't kiss you?!"

Kristen sighed, gritting her teeth out of anger. "Hop, listen–"

"No, you listen! You can't expect me to forget that I kissed the girl of my fucking dreams! I— I mean, how?! How?! Your feelings are mixed up?! That's what you said? You can't deal with this right now?! I've been dealing with it for seven years!! Seven years!"

"Hop–" Kristen was cut off by Hop's tender lips pushed against hers. Before she had the chance to do anything Hop pulled away.

"You can't tell me that you don't like that!"

"You're right! I can't, okay?! But— but I have a boyfriend! I shouldn't have kissed you back! I'm sorry. . ." Kristen roughly bit her lip, trying to focus on anything but the emotional pain she felt. She never meant to hurt Hop. She hoped that if she bit her lip hard enough and drew blood, maybe that would help her focus on something else. She was wrong.

The boy forced a smile, but ultimately failed turning the fake smile into a saddened scowl. He fought back tears that threatened to roll down his cheek. Hop backed up, slamming the door in her now tear stained face.
