That boy caught my attention. He didn't walk straight ahead, he went to the right. I didn't. I went straight ahead to what I trusted and that was familiar to me.

When I walked past the little red house on the left side of the path, I saw the short, stout lady I passed every Monday hanging out her wash and talking to her neighbour. When I passed, she eagerly waved at me, so I returned the gesture.

Everything was the same as always. Even the flyers of the missing cat, which were hanging on the streetlights for almost two years now, hadn't changed.

A week went by and everything was just as boring as it usually was. There was one exception, though. I now saw him every day.
