Why now?
Sandy's POV
Jake just kind of trailed off, and I was confused. "Jake? What's wrong?" Just then, my head was yanked back, and I cried out in pain.
"Nice to see you again." I could practically hear the smirk in Connor's voice. "Connor, leave her alone. She doesn't deserve this."
"Aw. Does the bad boy wannabe feel bad for the country bumpkin?" Benjamin mocked. "Just like Mitchell." I scoffed. "Y'all are too big for your britches."
I rammed my elbow into Connor's stomach, and he let go of my hair. Jake and I got out as fast as we could. After paying, of course.
We left the restaurant, and went back to my place before they could catch us.
"Jake. What's gonna happen?" I asked, panicked. "Darlin, don't you worry. I'm not going to let them go very far. If I see them again, it may be the last time. Unless they're in a body bag."
"Violence isn't the answer." I said, my accent thicker than ever. "It is if they hurt the people I care about. Especially the girl I love."
We sat down on the couch, and Jake just held me and told me everything would be ok. It helped. I turned on Pandora, and Don't Blink by Kenny Chesney came on.
My all time favorite.
It definitely helped calm me down. 'I don't what I did to deserve this, but thank God I did it.' I thought. I soon drifted off to sleep in Jake's arms.
I was exactly where I wanted to be. And I never wanted to leave.
When I woke up, Jake was there. Just looking at me. "What are you doing?" I asked through a yawn. "What do you mean?"
He asked. "Why are you staring at me?" "Because you're beautiful." "Ew. No. I just woke up and my hair is probably a disaster."
He lifted my chin so that I had to meet his gaze, and he said "You are absolutely gorgeous. Wether your hair is a mess or not. I love you for you. Not what you look like. You being cute is just a bonus."
That made me smile. I told him I was going to get ready for the day, and proceeded to do just that. All while thinking about what he said.
When I was done, I walked back into the living room. Jake was just getting off his phone.
"What are you up to?" "Getting your surprise ready."
"You're the best. You know that?" "No, you're the best." "Ew. Don't start that sappy stuff, Jake."
He tackled me to the couch. "But I llllooooovvveeeee yyyooooouuuu." "I love you too. But that's so cliché. I'm not really a cliché girl."
"Fair enough. We need to go to school next week." (Not the Monday coming up in the story since it's like, Saturday. But the one after.) "Ugh. Don't remind me." "Do you need more time to recover?" He asked in a mock serious tone.
"No. I just don't want to deal with Veronica and Mitchell's lackies." "Neither do I. Especially because you know they've teamed up by now. But we have to go."
"I know. *sigh* I just know they'll stir the pot." "I know."
We just cuddled until Jake said "Let's go get lunch. My treat." "Why do you spend so much money on me?" "Because I want to spoil you.
Just then, I pulled up a picture on my phone. (Below)
"How about we drive to a field, and have a picnic for dinner.?" "Sounds good to me, darlin."
We ended up going to Chipotle for lunch. As we walked around afterwards, I saw a dog. It was big and fluffy with chocolate brown fur.
A Newfoundland. I walked up the owner. "May I pet your dog?" "Sure!! She loves attention!!" "What's her name?" "Macie." "Aw. Thank you." "You're welcome."
We walked back to the motorcycle. "I want to get a dog some day." I said with a dreamy look in my eyes.
"What kind would you get?" "Not sure. But I want a girl, and I'm gonna name her Luca. Luca Destiny O'Hare."
"That sounds awesome." "Really? I've wanted that for a couple years now. But we could never afford it."
Before I knew it, we were home. I got a call.
On the phone:
Fred🚁: Hey, baby girl.
Sandy💖✝: Hi, daddy!! How are you?!
Fred🚁: I'm doin alright. How are you and Jake?
Sandy💖✝: We're good.
Fred🚁: That's good. I do have to get back. I was just checking on you.
Sandy💖✝: Alright, daddy. I love you.
Fred🚁: I love you too, punkin.
I hung up. I felt kind of sad. "Everything alright?" "Yeah. Just miss him, is all."
"I understand. Want to watch a movie?" "Sure. Disney?" "Let's do it." I put in Tangled.
**(Teem Skipe)**
After the movie, it was getting dark. I packed a quick picnic, and got dressed into a comfy tank and shorts. With my sandals.
"You look great. Let's go." Jake said. He was still in his jeans and t-shirt from earlier today.
"Thank you. Let's go." We got in the truck, and headed out.
After about an hour or so of driving, we arrived in a field. I parked the truck, cranked the country music, and laid the blankets down in the back of the truck.
I'm sorry. I have no more ideas for this chapter. I'll get it. I promise. But I wanted to finish this chapter.
