Percy XXXIV
Desperation.
Darkness.
Those were the first thing that came to Percy Jackson’s mind.
All he remembered was that Kronos’s evil laugh when Percy fell into unconsciousness again.
Is Annabeth okay?
Is the camp okay?
“You puny demigod.” Kronos snarled.
“Just when I wanted to deal with that Apollo god…”
“Huh?”
Kronos pulled at Percy’s collar.
“STOP IT!”
“Stop what?”
“You’re ruining everything! I can’t even perform a single task using your body!”
“What did I do?”
“What did you do?” Kronos repeated in a dangerous voice. “How am I supposed to know? You…You just stop me every time… I try to do something!”
Percy did not understand what the Hades was happening but he decided to play the game.
“Oh yeah.” Percy smirked. “I did that.”
“You did?”
“Who else would it be? I mean, you’re in MY body, unless…” Percy’s eyes widened. “Someone else is here too.”
Suddenly, Kronos fell with a thud on the ground.
“Wow, Jackson, you have brains that are made of grass.”
“Luke?”
Luke stepped out of the shadows.
“Whazzup?”
“Uh… what? Why? Aren’t you…?”
“You totally forgot that I was here too, did you.”
It sounded more like a statement.
Percy laughed nervously.
“Sorry, bro.”
Luke laughed and patted Percy’s shoulder.
“It’s alright, dude.” He handed Percy a sword. “Go beat up some time titan for me. I’ll have to go. My time is up.”
“AGAIN?” Percy pouted. “What are you?”
Luke smiled.
“I’m a memory. Long lost in your head. If you remember me more, I may pop up again.”
Luke disappeared.
Percy shook his head.
What is this, a Harry Potter movie?
What did he mean by memory?
“So it seems that staying in your head isn’t really such an advantage for me.” Kronos was suddenly standing in front of Percy, in his hand was a sharp knife.
“Well, filthy demigod, what would you do now?” In the blink of an eye, the knife was at Percy’s neck and Kronos was standing behind Percy.
Percy managed a weak, nervous laugh.
“Er… I dunno. I would run, but I can’t really, can I?”
Kronos smirked.
“You may be able to have puny friends to help, but that doesn’t stop me from my mother's plans.” “Your mother’s…?”
Suddenly, a vine appeared on Kronos’s hand and snatched the knife away.
“Wha-?”
The vine wrapped itself around Kronos’s body and pulled him into the air.
“What? Hey! Put me down! PUT ME DOWN!”
“Oh, please. Some people can be so ignorant sometimes.” A familiar voice said.
Too familiar.
“Katie!” Percy cried happily. Katie walked out of the darkness.
“Hey, Perce!” Katie squealed happily. “Oh gods, you should seriously go to Elysium sometime. It’s SO beautiful, isn’t it, dear?” Travis stepped out, beside Katie.
“Oh yes.” he nodded. Percy almost wanted to shout ‘hooray'.
“Travis!” he ran over to the couple and intended to hug them, but, to his surprise, he walked right through them.
“What? Why…"
Katie laughed sadly.
“Remember, we’re just your memories. We don’t really exist.”
Thud.
“Crap. The vines snapped.” Katie walked to Kronos, who has fallen on the ground and slapped him on the face. “Take that!”
Travis took out a long golden sword.
“It’s time this is given back to you.”
“Riptide!” Percy gasped. “How’d you get it?”
Travis winked.
“I’m a son of Hermes, bro.”
Percy smiled at Travis and walked next to Kronos. He scowled.
“Goodbye, you filthy titan.”
“Ha. Fine. Kill me.” Kronos smirked. “You’ll regret it.”
“Why would I?” Just as Percy was going to slam the sword into Kronos’s neck, Katie screamed.
“Argh!” she fell onto the ground. Travis gasped and knelt next to her.
Kronos smirked.
“Oh please.” he said, imitating Katie, “I’m the Titan of Time. Some people can be so ignorant sometimes. Now…” his focus turned to Percy. “What shall I do with you?”
Suddenly, roots were popping up from the ground, wrapping themselves around Kronos’s feet.
“Wha-?” he slashed his knife at the roots, but they were growing too quickly. “You stupid Demeter girl!”
“NOBODY CALLS ME IGNORANT!” Percy could basically feel an angry aura seeping through her veins. “Nor hurt my best friend!”
Percy felt like he was watching Plants VS Zombies real life version. Except there was only one ‘zombie’ and he was frantically slashing his knife at the leaves and roots. Percy backed away in shock.
“Argh! You son of a…” Katie shouted a long line of profanity that Travis laughed awkwardly and put both arms around Katie’s waist, pulling her away from Kronos.
“Okay, enough for now, Katie…”
“NO! He’s the stupid man who killed me! Let me go!” Katie yelled, kicking the air like a pouting kid. Travis smiled at Percy.
“We’d better go. Our time is up. Katie is over-reacting a bit.” he laughed. Katie calmed down a bit.
"Bye, Percy.” she grinned. “Kick Kronos’s butt for me.” They disappeared.
“Ugh finally… she’s gone.” Kronos groaned, pushing himself up. Percy held Riptide tightly in his hands.
“Time’s up for you, Kronos.” Percy scowled. “Riptide’s dying to meet your skin.”
Kronos managed an evil laugh.
“Really, puny boy?” he smirked. “Well…”
It all happened in the blink of an eye. Percy screamed and fell onto the ground.
“You don’t really know how to control your own thoughts, can you? Can’t you see? This is all happening inside your head, and you can’t even control what happens. Pathetic.”
Percy looked down and saw Riptide dug into his stomach.
Kronos laughed and swung his own knife in his hand.
“Well, boy? What are your last words? I may be able to tell Annabeth about them.” he smirked as he stepped on Percy’s broken arm (from earlier). Percy winced.
“I’m not losing. Yet.” he growled. “Especially not to you.” Kronos smirked.
“Then it’s over for you, Perseus Jackson.”
Percy braced himself for the knife that was aimed at his heart. He closed his eyes.
