Time to Train
Lily's POV
I walked over to the river where we were going to meet Jiraiya for our training. Adrienne came with me. We were both still wearing our crop tops. When I saw Naruto I was surprised that he was around my height until I remembered that I dropped a foot off of our heights before the chunin exams. I figured it would be weird for us to all be so tall compared to everyone else our age. I'm not used to being this short. It's weird.
When Jiraiya arrived, he started talking to Naruto about chakra and red chakra versus yellow chakra and blah blah blah. I didn't pay much attention. It was when he said something about Naruto's red chakra being "special only to him" or whatever that I laughed a little.
"What's so funny?" Jiraiya and Naruto asked at the same time.
"It's just... Minato, Kushina, and Kurama..." I continued laughing but I did notice Naruto's eyes momentarily flicker into his nine-tails slit thingies. I don't know how to describe them.
Jiraiya looked as if he was going to ask me something, but Naruto interrupted. "I felt the red chakra!" Naruto exclaimed.
"How did you get it to come to you?" Jiraiya asked excitedly.
"I don't know. Hota- Lily was talking, and then, bam!" Naruto waved his arms in the air to demonstrate the bam. I giggled.
"I guess Kurama still isn't used to hearing his name. You'd think I would have said it enough by now..." I looked straight at Naruto and his eyes flashed again.
"Who's Kurama?" Jiraiya asked. "What do you mean?"
"Spoilers." I said in my best river song impression. "speaking of spoilers, Adrienne, is the next part of Naruto out yet?"
"I don't know. I had been checking but my phone died. They don't have any apple chargers here so I couldn't charge it."
"I guess we'll have to find a computer here."
"Can we get back to our training now?" Naruto asked.
"Okay." Jiraiya replied.
Jiraiya talked to Naruto some more about his chakra and blah blah blah. I still don't care. Me and Adrienne just had a conversation about the next part of Naruto. The only thing u really cared about was getting summoning animals.
"Should we actually try to summon animals?" Adrienne asked me.
"No. I'm fairly certain that Jiraiya doesn't know to what extent we have unlocked our ability. We should let him throw us into the canyon thing with Naruto." I replied.
"Okay."
Jiraiya started talking to Naruto about summoning and what not, so me and Adrienne started to pay attention. He sent Naruto off to go get rid of his chakra and pulled out scrolls for me and Adrienne.
"I've been monitoring you girls as you fight." Jiraiya said. "Hanabira I believe will be good with lions for a summoning animal. Hotaru will use bats."
"Bats?" I asked. "How are bats useful?"
"I thought you would ask that." Jiraiya began. "These are special bats. When fully grown they can breathe ice fire. And they are huge."
"Ice fire?" I asked.
"It's blue fire that turn to ice when it hits things." Adrienne answered.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"I don't think that you girls will be able to summon the big ones quit yet, but with some time you may be able to use enough of your chakra to get a good one." Jiraiya said. So I suppose he doesn't know our full ability.
By this time Naruto was almost out of chakra. Jiraiya handed me and Adrienne our scrolls and summoned the toad for Naruto's scroll. The three of us sat down next to each other and opened our scrolls while Jiraiya explained to us how to make our contract. I bit my finger and signed my name then did my finger prints. Naruto and Adrienne did the same.
Naruto was the first to attempt to summon an animal while me and Adrienne watched. He got a tiny little tadpole. It was very pitiful. Adrienne and I took our turns. We put out as little chakra as possible. I got a little black bat that was around the size of my hand. Adrienne got a lion cub that looked like a new born kitten. Jiraiya anime fell at us.
"You should all try to use a little bit more chakra." Jiraiya said. I used a little less and got a golden bat the size of my palm.
"LOOK ITS GOLD!" I exclaimed. Jiraiya rolled his eyes at me.
Naruto got a tadpole again and Adrienne got a cub that was the size of a one month old kitty.
We spent the rest of the day until dinner summoning. Me and Adrienne went back and forth between our two animals that we had summoned. Naruto kept on failing.
For dinner, Adrienne, Naruto, and I went over to Ichiraku for ramen. After fifteen minutes of eating, Naruto started to talk.
"I thought you guys would've done better at summoning. I've seen you two fight before. It's amazing." He said longingly.
"I suppose we could've done better." I said to him.
"Then why didn't you?" He asked confused.
"It spoils the fun. We all came here and we're able to do everything perfectly. The only thing left that we can do is make our own jutsu and become physically stronger. It's boring. So, I figure, if we pretend that we can't do it, then we can actually have the fun of learning." I sighed and continued eating my ramen.
"Oh." Naruto said. No one said anything after that.

When Adrienne and I arrived back at home, I climbed up onto the roof and summoned a bat. I got a gigantic golden bat the size of an elephant. It appeared to have been sleeping. It yawned and opened its eyes to look at me.
"Who are you?" It asked. It sounded like a guy.
"I'm Lily. I responded.
"Aren't you a little young to summon me?" He asked.
"I may be young, but I am the most powerful ninja in this village. Do you have a name?"
"I did once. I've long since forgotten it though. It's been many centuries since I've ever been summoned. What do you need me for?"
"Well, you see," I began. "I'm a Genin from the leaf village. She have the chunin exams coming up and I believe I may need your help. I'm planning on stalling my learning during my actual training time, but I would like to get used to flying on your back."
"Okay." He responded. "Hop on."
I climbed on his back and grabbed on to his fur. He took off and be began flying. At first I didn't really know how to control him, but I quickly learned. I pulled the fur on the right and he went right. Left and he went left. When I pulled both, he did a back flip. If I pulled both directed to the right, be would do a cork screw.
I did a cork screw with him and stopped upside down using my chakra to keep me on his back. Then I let go. He swooped down and caught me after I had fallen five hundred feet. It was amazing.
"What did you do that for?" He asked me.
"Fun!" I exclaimed as a smile spread across my face. "I've heard you can breathe ice fire."
"You've heard correctly."
"Can we try?" I asked him.
"I suppose." He opened his mouth and spit out a stream of blue fire. It hit a bug in front of us and the bug froze and fell to the earth. I laughed.
"This is amazing." I smiled. I directed us back to my house and landed on the roof.
"Thanks." The bat poofed into nothingness. I went to my room and got ready for bed.
I continued the same routine until the twenty-first day of training. Over time I learned to sit on the bat's head. I also managed to link our minds so that he would know what direction to move in without me having to physically direct him. In our daily sessions, I learned that the little golden bat was named rose and the little black bat was named Mark. I was surprised at how not Japanese the names were.
We spent some time training until Naruto fainted. I willed Adriene and me to do the same. When we woke up we were on the edge of the canyon. Jiraiya pushed us all in. I spent a fair amount of time enjoying the falling, but Adrienne summoned a gigantic lion right away. They kept out of the canyon and ran off into the woods some where.
I continued falling until I saw Naruto summon Chief Toad, and which point I figured I should summon Methias. Yes Methias. I named him Methias. I bit my finger and summoned him right before I hit the bottom. I landed on his head and stuck with my chakra as we flew up out of the canyon. Upon reaching the air, I did a few back flips, a corkscrew, and a little fire show before jumping off of Methias's back. I saw Jiraiya's jaw drop as Methias caught me and we flew back up into the air. I then landed next to Jiraiya and Methias poofed away.
"So, what d'ya think?" I asked.
Jiraiya stared in amazement. "Can you do that again?" He asked.
"Easily." I responded with a grin.
"How long have you been able to do that?" He asked.
"Since the first day."
"And you never bothered to do it in training?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because then you wouldn't have pushed me into the canyon."
"Wow." Jiraiya said. "You really are something."
I smiled knowing that that would be the last day that I actually spent training.
