Ch. 22 - Canuck Beaver

 ~ Chapter 22: Canuck Beaver  ~

[ Justin’s POV: ]

The loud blaring of music blasted in both of my ears and I shot my eyes open in alarm, knocking my headphones to the ground and pinning the person responsible up against the wall. I blinked a couple of times as an attempt to wake up before gazing down at him.

“T-Twist?” I stuttered, unable to believe he was really here.

“Bieber,” he smirked. “Why you gotta have your panties all up in a twist?”

“Well considering I fell asleep listening to music and you decide to wake me up by turning it up full volume, I have every right to be pissed,” I spat crankily.

“I swear to god, you’re so fucking bipolar sometimes,” he muttered. I pushed him against the wall further.

“How the fuck did you get in here?” I grumpily asked him, my fists holding his shirt as I pushed him harder to the wall.

“Alfredo let me in,” he choked out. My tight grip on him loosened.

“Fredo’s back?” I said in surprise.

“That’s right,” a voice spoke up from behind me. I completely released Lil Twist and turned around, seeing Alfredo standing right in front of me.

“Fredo…” I whispered, my heart lifting inside of me. “I missed you.”

“I missed you too,” he admitted, a small smile curving upon his lips. “I just really needed time for myself.”

“I know,” I sighed. “And I’m really sorry. I blew you off with our guy’s night and, to top it off, I ignored you when you tried to remind me about Jackie. You just wanted what was best for me… And I know.. I know I can be a dick to everyone sometimes but… I wasn’t always like this.”

“I know. I remember,” he stuffed his hands into the pocket of his jeans. “And it’s okay. You’re still my best friend.”

“So you’re n-not mad at me anymore?” my voice was quiet, afraid that his answer would be something I didn’t like.

“Nah, I can’t stay mad at you for long,” he grinned, pulling me into a hug. I couldn’t help but let out a smile as I hugged him back tightly, happy that things were finally back to normal between us. “One question, though,” he said, right as we pulled away.

“Shoot,” I prompted him.

“I came back a little earlier yesterday and you were gone. I couldn’t help but wonder… Where were you?” he asked, looking at me with curious eyes.

“Me? Uhh… I had to make things right with a certain someone,” I said slowly.

“Jackie?” his eyes sparkled with hope. Why does he want Jackie and I to be together so badly?

“Yeah… Jackie,” I whispered.

“You talked to her?”

I nodded.

“And what happened? I mean, she isn’t here now, did something go wrong?” he kept asking questions.

“No, things went fine, it’s just that… I told her that I’m still a busy guy and that I had to leave. She and Robin decided to go shopping anyway,” I shrugged.

“Wha-… Why didn’t you ask her on a date or something?” he pouted.

“Fredo..” I said in a warning tone, clenching my fists together.

“What? It would’ve been a good idea!” he protested.

“I’m with Alicia,” I growled lowly, and I internally slapped myself.

What the fuck is wrong with me? Didn’t I tell Jackie I’d like to try being with her? Didn’t I kiss her? Am I not supposed to make up my damn mind already? Don’t I want her to be mine?

“HOLD up,” Twist yelled, and for a minute there, I forgot he was even in the room. “You’re back with Alicia now?!”

“Yeah, didn’t you know?” I said casually.

“Ey good job bro, she’s hot as fuck,” he grinned.

“But you can’t have her,” I scoffed.

“Alright cool, cool, fair enough,” Twist chuckled in amusement. “Can I ask you the question I came here to ask you now?”

I sighed, running a hand through my hair in frustration. “Go ahead.”

“So it’s one of my homies’ birthday tonight and I was wondering if you wanted to come,” he said, practically batting his eyelashes at me. “Lil Za’s going too, if you were wondering.”

“I don’t see why not,” I nodded, before looking back over at Alfredo. “Do you wanna come with us?”

He shook his head, waving us off. “I’m not in the partying mood tonight.”

“You sure?” Twist asked. “He owns a nice, huge house and there’s going to be so many sexy ass ladies, if you know what I mean.”

“I’m pretty sure I wanna stay here, lay down and just watch a movie or something,” Fredo said before turning to face me. “You should too, Justin. Partying isn’t the most important thing in life, you know.”

“He already said he’d go,” Lil Twist interrupted, glaring at Alfredo. “He’s coming with me.”

“You’re not the boss of him,” Fredo returned Twist’s glare. “He can still change his mind.”

“He’s been through a lot, he needs this,” Twist argued.

“Partying isn’t what he needs. He needs rest. That’s what he needs.”

“Then you obviously don’t know him like I do,” Twist crossed his arms.

“Will you both shut the fuck up?!” I yelled, the room becoming instantly silent as Alfredo and Lil Twist locked gazes with me. “I’m going to the fucking party because I feel like it. But it doesn’t mean you two should start hating each other.”

“Sorry,” Alfredo sighed, looking at Twist in hopes that he’d return an apology.

“You better be,” Twist sneered back, uncrossing his arms and laying a hand on my shoulder. “Now let’s go Justin. Go get changed and we’ll have some real fun.”

----

When Lil Twist parked the car in front of a huge house, I heard loud music being blasted from inside, lights everywhere, smoke coming off from windows, and people chattering nonstop.

“Is this it?” I asked him, staring at the house.

“Yep. His real name isn’t important ‘cause we all call him Klutzer, so when you meet him, make sure you say a nice happy birthday,” he answered.

“Alright,” I mumbled, getting out of the car. “Wait, why do you call him Klutzer?”

“It’s a long story,” Twist laughed to himself and shook his head before leading me towards the front porch. The night had just settled in and the lights coming from the house shone brightly onto the front yard. When Twist rang the doorbell, we waited a couple of seconds before the door swung open, increasing the volume of the music that was being held inside.

“Little Twist!” a man that looked about 3 years older than me, dressed in red clothing with chains around his neck, greeted Twist and they shared a quick hug before doing their own little handshake.

“Rocket, man, how are you?” Twist smiled at the guy. “I brought a friend along, if you don’t mind,” he turned towards me, “this is Justin Bieber.”

“Justin Bieber? As in… Pop singer Justin Bieber?” the man stared at me, wide-eyed.

“He’s a regular guy, Rocket. Just like you and me,” Twist gave him a look that practically warned him to treat me like a normal person.

“Of course, of course. Nice to meet you, brother,” he shook my hand and I politely smiled back at him, not bothering to even open my mouth to say anything. The man, Rocket, then stepped aside to let us in and Twist wrapped an arm around me as we both walked to where the party was at.

“Do you all have nicknames?” I asked him, yelling into his ear over the music. “I mean, you’re Lil Twist, your brother is Lil Za, that man’s name was Rocket and the birthday boy’s name is Klutzer.”

“That’s just the way our crew works, Bieber,” he grinned at me. “What, you feel left out? We could give you a nickname too, if ya want.”

“What would be my nickname?” I asked, as we made our way through the crowd.

“Canuck Beaver,” he winked, and I playfully punched him at his side.

“Very funny,” I laughed, just as random people I didn’t know began to greet Lil Twist and high five him. They would then nod politely at me, seeing as he had his arm wrapped around me so I must’ve been an invited friend.

“Justin!” I heard my name being called out by a familiar voice. Twist and I pushed through one last group of people before we became face to face with Lil Za, standing next to a guy I’ve never seen before.

“Za!” I gave him a quick hug and he hugged me back, patting me on the back before pulling away.

“He’s Canuck Beaver now,” Twist teased, and Za looked back at me, looking surprised.

“You got a nickname?” he asked in fascination.

“Apparently,” I chuckled. “Even though it literally means ‘Canadian Beaver’,” I glanced playfully at Twist.

“Looks like you’re one of us now, Canuck,” he gave off a small smile before grabbing the shoulder of the man next to him. “Well, anyway, this is Klutzer.”

The man next to Za nodded and smirked at me, holding out his hand. “Nice to meet you, Canuck.”

“You too, Klutzer,” I shook his hand firmly. “Happy birthday, bro.”

“Thank you,” he said, and we released each other’s hands before he signaled to the other side of the room with his head. “I’ll be over there talking to other people. If any of you need anything, I’ll be around here somewhere.”

“See you man,” Twist smiled at him, and Klutzer disappeared to the crowd of people who danced, laughed and sang to the music.

“I’ll see you guys later too, I’m gonna go try to find Jagger,” Za nodded at Twist and I before following behind Klutzer. I didn’t even bother to ask who Jagger was, since I was assuming he’s another member of their crew filled with nicknames.

“Hey, wanna go upstairs?” Twist asked me, wrapping one arm around me again and pulling me to him.

“What’s upstairs?” I questioned in confusion.

“You’ll see…”

We began charging towards the crowd again, making our way around dancing people and I would bet you all my money that most of them were drunk as fuck. Twist and I climbed up the stairs and I saw that there were as many people up here as there was downstairs. Heck, this whole house was a party—not a single room empty of partygoers. As Twist and I continued down the hall, a strange yet familiar odor began to tickle my nose and it only took me a few seconds to put all the pieces together.

When we reached a door at the end of the hall, Twist knocked and pushed it open and the strong smell of marijuana filled our nostrils.

“Pass a blunt!” a man yelled from the other side of the room, and I noticed there were people crowding the room, all of them smoking weed under the light of a small television showing an episode of Family Guy.

“Twist, you made it!” a bimbo waved her hand at us and I couldn’t help but notice the way she was dressed—just short shorts and a bra.

“Of course I did, Madeline,” he winked at her before releasing me and staring straight into my eyes. “Feel free to talk to anyone around here and try to have some fun, alright? I’ll be right here if you need me.”

I swallowed hard and nodded, watching Twist sit next to slutty Madeline while she passed him her blunt of marijuana. He took a drag out of it and puffed smoke into the air as Madeline sat down on his lap.

Let’s see… What to do, what to do?
