Ch. 12 - Fun Gone Wrong
~ Chapter 12: Fun Gone Wrong ~
[ Jackie’s POV: ]
Somewhere in between Justin and I’s make out session, we switched positions so that he was on the bottom and I was on top. Currently, I rested my head on his chest, listening to his fast-paced heartbeat and cherishing the warmth his arms gave me, which were wrapped around my body.
Justin kissed the top of my head, causing me to look up at him, his brown eyes shining into mine. “You’re not leaving me, are you?” he whispered, singling out a strand of my hair and playing with it.
“Leaving you?” I asked, confusion in my voice.
“Sorry,” he said, his mind somewhat elsewhere as he focused on the strand of my hair between his fingers. “Alicia always had something else to do instead of cuddling.”
“What do you mean?” I said with interest. I only know Alicia in the sense that she’s a singer, but I obviously don’t know what she’s like personally, fame aside.
Justin inhaled a large amount of air before meeting my eyes again. “You’re a belieber so let me ask you… True or false? I love to cuddle.”
I smirked. “True.”
“Correct,” he smiled, kissing my nose. “Keeping that in mind, I’d always have a night with Alicia where we would go out to dinner or something. When we came back home, I suggested we watch a movie and she always agreed even though I knew she didn’t like sitting at a place for too long. I was always trying to get her to like cuddling sessions but every time we did, she couldn’t last ten minutes without receiving a phone call from her friend or co-worker or just faking a yawn and saying she’s going to bed. I guess in a twisted way, she was always leaving me. Until one day, she really did leave me for real.”
I gave him a saddened look, letting out a small pout and landing a hand to his neck, my fingers playing with the hair on the back of his head. “I’m not Alicia…” I whispered, my breath tickling his lips.
“Thank god,” he whispered back, looking away. We spent a few more minutes lying on the couch and cuddling each other, a comfortable silence surrounding us. I was drifting into a peaceful mindset before I heard Justin speak up again. “It’s been 12 minutes since we’ve both been doing nothing but holding each other and you’re still here. No phone calls from girlfriends, no disturbance and no fake yawns.”
“You’re welcome,” I teased, causing him to laugh. He had this huge smile on his face which soon disappeared into a serious look.
“Jackie,” he spoke gently, reaching his hand towards mine and interlocking them together.
“Hm?” I hummed, resting my chin on his chest so I could look up at him properly.
“I really, really like you,” he slightly blushed, but didn’t dare look away from my eyes this time.
“I really like you too,” I confessed, letting him know I was truly being honest. “I see past all the fame, Justin. You’re an amazing person overall.”
“And that’s exactly what I like about you,” he sighed. “You’re the perfect girl.”
I chuckled nervously, raising an eyebrow in slight confusion. “Why do you say it like that?”
“I need to be honest with you,” he was now playing with my fingers. “I’m not ready for a serious relationship. I just got out of one where the person meant the world to me and she just flicked me away like I was a speck of dust and a waste of her time.” He scanned my eyes, in hopes to read my thoughts. “No matter how much I like you, Jackie, we have to face the facts… If I were to enter another relationship now, I would just screw up.”
“No you wouldn’t,” I shook my head. “If anything, I’d be the one to screw up. You just—You mean the world to me and you don’t even know it yet.”
“Yet,” he emphasized. “And I find that quite strange. You know so much about me, being my fan and all, and I barely know anything about you. I don’t even know what your favorite food is or what shampoo you use..”
I snorted.
“What?” he chuckled, amused by my reaction.
“Why the hell do you need to know what kind of shampoo I use?” I tried really hard not to burst out laughing because I knew that if I did, I wouldn’t stop.
“What, you didn’t know? They say the minute you know what shampoo a person uses, that’s when you guys truly know each other,” he grinned.
“You have that smile on your face,” I giggled. “It means you’re lying.”
“What smile? How can you tell?” he asked, wiggling his eyebrows at me.
I thought about his question for a bit. How can I tell? I remember being able to tell when Justin was sad. Why else did I have that dream with all the voices? Did my brain create some sort of image to let me know something was bothering him? How did I know Justin came to the conclusion that kidrauhl was dead? That that’s what was bothering him?
“Can I tell you a secret?” I said quietly, lowering my voice even though it was just us two.
“I’m all ears,” he nodded.
“It’s weird but… I can read you pretty well for someone who met you not too long ago,” I said. “Remember my dream?”
His eyes lost their glow. “About kidrauhl?”
The minute he said that word, I knew 2 things right off the bat. One: I shouldn’t have brought that up. And two: I saw that. I saw that happy shine glistening in his eyes fade away at the mention of kidrauhl. He’s upset now and I’m pretty sure he knows I can tell.
“Yeah, about kidrauhl…” I trailed off, knowing he already knew what I meant. The room fell silent. Justin stared off at nothing and drifted into his own little world. I watched him quietly, waiting for him to return to reality.
“Jackie…” he whispered, his arms tightening around me.
“What?” I asked softly, not daring to look away from his eyes, a gaze that didn’t meet mine.
“I’m going to push you away,” he spoke carefully, as if he wanted me to take mental notes of what he was saying. “I’m going to push you away a lot, Jackie.” He was now staring at the floor, his hands still on mine and he held on to me, brushing his thumb against my skin. “I’m not going to lie, I might say stupid things just for that—to push you away. But I won’t mean it.” He paused, locking eyes with me and staring deep into my soul. “Whatever you do, don’t give up on me.”
I let out a long, exhausted breath. “You know something else people say?” I asked him.
“Hm?”
“They say things that are broken can’t be fixed.” I gave his hand a little squeeze. “Sometimes that’s just not true. You’re broken, Justin. Your heart is shattered. But you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to pick up the pieces and mend the broken pieces. I’m not, I won’t and I refuse to give up on you.”
“This is too much,” Justin sighed, removing his arms from my body, the warmth he gave me fading away quickly, leaving me almost shivering. “I’m rushing this. I’m–… I’m not ready, I… I can’t. Not again. I won’t go through this again. This—us.. It’s not going to last…”
“Listen, I’m not rushing you. I don’t want you to feel like you’re being forced into any relationship. You take your time, Justin. A guy like you isn’t going to end up alone in the world. There’s so many people that love you. So, so many.”
Justin forced a smile and looked away, sliding far from me before standing up.
“Are you hungry?” His voice was soft and delicate, as if he were speaking to someone whom he cared deeply about, his tone abstained from hurting any feelings.
I cleared my throat. “I guess so. Are you?”
“I guess so,” he smiled again, grabbing his jacket from the chair and putting it on. “Let’s go get something to eat. Like you said, no one expects to see me in San Diego so we’ll be fine if we don’t take longer than 3 hours.”
“Then we’ll buy something and bring it back here. I’ll put a movie on, if you want,” I nodded, also grabbing my own jacket and covering up my body within it. “Let me just go get my wallet, I’ll be right back.”
I turned around to head for the stairs before feeling a strong grasp on my arm, holding me back. I looked up and saw Justin staring at me.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he asked sternly.
My face twisted in confusion before I explained myself. “I said I was getting my wallet…”
“No. I’m paying.”
There was something in his tone that rang a vibe, telling me not to argue with him. To not even protest against his offer and just take it.
“You sure?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
He slowly released me and stuffed his hands into the pocket of his jeans. “Yes.” He nodded. “I’m sure.”
----
Since no one was going to be home until nighttime, Justin decided to take on my offer of sleeping over. I made sure to wake up earlier than him to cook him breakfast again, so that he feels right at home.
I cooked eggs and made toast with sprinkles of butter and sat down on the table, eating quietly and waiting for Justin to come downstairs. Though he was still sleeping, I somewhat felt his presence, which was weird because I’m often home by myself and it’s quite lonely.
After I finished eating, I placed everything on the dishwasher and took out my phone, checking my mail. Another article from that celebrity gossip website was sent to me again, and I inwardly groaned. Now that I personally know Justin more, I’m starting to think I shouldn’t check these sites and involve myself with their rumors. But, you know… There’s always the temptation…
I resisted, ready to switch to a different app—like Twitter—but before that could happen, I read one of the headliners:
Pop star Justin Bieber has a new girl?! We’ve got some juicy details for you!
My heart stopped right then and there. No… This can’t be… Me? C-Can it? Almost desperately, I tapped on the article and as fast as I had made the decision was when a picture of Justin and I showed up, walking fairly close to each other, Justin holding two drinks (one for him and one for me) while I held a bag with the chinese food we ordered yesterday.
I felt my heart beginning to pound again, but its rate was twice its normal speed. I was nervous. I knew all about the shitty things media say to bring people down, but I never experienced it for myself. I never thought I actually would, to be honest. Not wasting another minute, I began to read the article, an uneasy feeling in my chest:
We all know everybody here is amused by what Justin Bieber has gotten himself into lately. Bad break up, clubs, alcohol, bad influences and much, much more. We’re actually excited to tell you about some news one of our reporters had fetched for us yesterday. It’s Justin… with another girl! Alicia better get the message ‘cause this boy has moved on. Not only is he walking pretty close to this mystery girl (a little too close if you ask us), but here’s where everything gets a hundred times more juicy; his mystery woman has a hickey! What have these two lovebirds done? I’m thinking this girl had taken more of Justin’s innocence than Alicia ever did. So what do you think? Are these two together? Was it Justin who gave this mystery woman a love bite? Let us know what you think on the comments below!
My mouth was hanging open. I didn’t even think I was breathing properly. As I scrolled down the page, I found another picture of Justin and I, this one on a different angled and zoomed in closer to our faces. Justin had a grin on his face and I was laughing, my eyes closed and my head thrown back just enough to reveal the love bite Justin had given me when things got a little heated on my couch. It got even worse when I started reading the comments.
Boy, oh boy. What the hell are we going to do now?
