Strange Night
We found Drake at the bottom of the mountain. He appeared to be staring at something in the distance. "Hey Drake!" I called, making my way towards him. He turned, and something flashed in his eyes. So subtle, I almost didn't notice; a flash of white in his eyes. Then he blinked, and it was gone. "Um...hi?" Luke studied Drake. "So, what were you doing, trapped in that temple?" Drake frowned. "I...I don't want to talk about it." He said, averting Luke's gaze, and, for some reason, landing on mine. I could see something strange simmer in his eyes when he looked at me. Like a strange type of trust, mixed with fear. Luke coughed. "It's getting dark, we should make camp here." I nodded at him. Drake looked worried. "We're just going to camp here? Out in the open?" I nodded at him. "It's ok." I told him encouragingly. Luke started a fire. I took out a sleeping bag and laid it down by the fire. Luke did the same. Drake sat there, I suppose lost in thought. I passed him a sleeping bag. He took it, looking at me thankfully. "So what were you two doing on my mountain?" Drake asked finally. I blinked. "Your mountain?" Luke frowned. "I thought you said that force field wasn't yours." Drake exhaled. "It wasn't." His expression turned sad as he gazed at the temple on top the mountain. "It's one thing to be trapped against your will." He said finally. "It's another to be trapped inside your own home." Luke blinked. "Wait, you live in the temple?" Drake nodded. I exchanged a look with Luke. "Drake," I said, leaning forward expectedly. "Have you ever seen anything strange in that temple? Anything...magical?" Drake raised an eyebrow. "Why exactly were you in my home?" He asked, eyeing us. I paused, glancing at Luke. Should we tell him? I didn't want to lie to him, but the way he avoided our question didn't make me very comfortable. Luke nodded slightly, sending me a look I understood perfectly: tell him some, but not all. "We heard rumors about magical things happening here, so we decided to investigate." I told Drake softly. Drake snorted. He didn't look happy. "So what would you do if you found magic?" He asked, frowning. I sighed. "We'd tell authorities." Drake sighed. "Oh." He muttered. "Drake , we know there's magic here. You can't deny that. You were trapped in a force field for Heavens sake!" Luke yelled, looking angry. I glared at him. Drake coughed. "I just don't want a bunch of people in my home. I made my home here to be alone, so I can do my... work in private." I raised an eyebrow. "Work hmm? What kinda work?" Drake looked uncomfortable. "Um...never-mind." Luke snorted. "Your more mysterious than a Light Spirit." I laughed. Drake managed a small grin. "I suppose I am. You guys aren't much better, though." I blinked. "What?" Drake snorted. "Supposedly you just wanted to "check out" my home, after hearing rumors. I doubt that's why you were in my home." I blinked. "Wow, he's good." Luke muttered. Drake smiled. "Well, I think I'm going to head out." I had been staring at the fire, but at his words, I looked up, startled. "Your leaving? Now?" Luke asked, sounding surprised. I was surprised too. Drake nodded. "Thanks for freeing me, but I don't think I should stay. It won't take long for Him to notice me missing. Unless you want to die, I wouldn't head back." I blinked. Drake had said the word "him" like he was talking about a specific person, and someone evil at that. The way he said it made me feel uncomfortable, like I should know who he is talking about, but my mind is blank. "Him?" I asked, confused. Drake nodded, a grave look on his face. Luke frowned. "Who is Him?" He asked. Drake winced. "I'd rather not say. It attracts his attention, to enhance fear." I raised an eyebrow. Those were the exact words I used to describe Herobrine... Oh. I caught Luke's eye, and I could tell he was thinking the exact same thing. I remembered Drakes look of panic when he saw me, and it would make sense under that scenario. I exhaled. Was Drake haunted? Only one way to find out... "Well, I'm gonna head out." I looked up to see Drake at the edge of the field. Whoa. How did he get there so fast? I wasn't that spaced out, was I? I locked eyes with Luke, who looked just as surprised. "How did you..." Luke muttered. Drake shrugged. "I'm fast." He said quickly. Suddenly, a man appeared behind Drake. He looked exactly like me, but with white eyes, not blue. I blinked, and he was gone. Still, His presence didn't reassure me. I turned to see Luke eying me. "Collin, what's-" before he could finish, lightning flashed from the sky and hit him. "Luke!!" I screamed. Where he was standing a minute ago was nothing but a black crater. I ran to it and found Luke, laying dazed, but alive. His entire left arm was burnt black. "Holy Enderdragon." I heard a voice mutter. I turned and saw Drake, kneeling next to me, his eyes trained on Luke. The scary thing? He didn't even look surprised, like this was some everyday occurrence. Luke groaned. "How bout instead of staring at me, you come help!" He complained. I grinned. If Luke was complaining, he was just fine. "We're coming down." Drake called to him. I raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were leaving." Drake shot me a look. "I can wait five minutes." He replied, picking his way down the slope. I followed. When we'd reached the bottom, Luke sat up. "How is it?" He asked, his eyes squeezed shut. I took out a can healing cream. "It'll be fine." I said, trying to sound upbeat. Drake frowned at me. I screwed off the lid and spread some healing cream on Luke's arm. A few seconds later the cream glowed white. "Whoa." I heard Drake mutter. I kept my gaze on Luke's arm, which was starting to heal. A few minutes later, Luke's arm was back to normal. He sat up, rubbing his arm. "Thanks." Luke said, nodding at me. "I didn't know you still had that healing cream, Collin." I nodded at him. I glanced over. Drake was staring at Luke's arm with wide eyes. I laughed at his expression. "It's healing cream Drake. I got it from a potion seller." Drake shrugged his shoulders. "I've seen healing cream." He said finally, "but I've never seen any that worked that well." I grinned. "It's the best." Luke nodded. Drake smiled. "Well, now that Luke's ok, I think I'm gonna go now." I frowned. "No, I don't think you should. At least wait 'till morning." Drake sighed. "I don't think I should.." Luke stepped forward. "Ahh, Collin... I see something....something I don't like." Luke's gaze was fixed on the ridge above me and Drake. I looked up, and saw Him, his eyes glowing in the dark. That was the last thing I remember before everything went dark.
