CHAPTER 53: Discoveries
Time: Unknown
Location: US Military base in Waterfall
I looked up at Sans in awe, only confused by his actions. From his perspective, I might have been in shock due to these events. I couldn't even say thank you to him. Why did she save me? What did he even do to my arm?
He grumbled in the other direction, and I could only smile and let out a small stifle of exasperated laughter. It came out as one singular chuckle, and the rest blew out of my nose loudly, and gave him a clear indication that I was in-fact laughing at him. He quickly turned around as I stood up slowly, flustered, "What?!" He tried to snap, but it only made even more small giggles fall out of my mouth. "What's so funny?!" He demanded.
"It's just..." I said, sighing. "I never would have thought that you would have done something like that for me." I said, almost in a melancholy-like manner. "I mean, I don't understand what you even did!" I sighed, looking at my arm as I neared him, walking at a moderate pace. "I can't explain it." I wanted to ask so badly as to why he saved me in the first place. Why he wanted me to die just a few hours ago, and now he's healing me with some unknown force. I just didn't have the courage to ask.
"I told you." He said, sighing slightly. "It's healing magic." He chuckled. I quickly looked up at him as if he were joking, however, he only looked back at me with a smug look. "What?" He asked, "Did you think I was honestly joking about that?" He grinned, winking. He put his hands inside of his pockets and matched my pace, and we began to take more of a stroll through the rest of Waterfall, leaving the small camp behind us, rather than a brisk paced speed-walk to get out of here.
"I told you I don't believe in magic..." I said, feeling awfully stupid to make that comment, when there had been obvious signs of magic in the air from the fight with the military soldiers. the evidence was there. The bones, the doe skulls, even the 'healing magic' Sans had proclaimed to have used upon me. "It's unorthodox." I said. "Unreal. Just an illusion made by people to use the trick of the eye." I said, huffing slightly and turning to look down at my feet as we walked forwards.
The cavern walls didn't seem so crowded with the tents gone. It was as if they had opened up a breather of fresh air to allow us into the beauty of the underground. Like a tale of my journey. An Undertale.
"Uh huh." Sans said, grinning as a light started to illuminate the ground with a hazy blue light. I looked up to see where the source of the light was coming from, and noticed to my delight, an echoflower was standing tall and proud in a small corner of a divot in the wall. Next to it, stood a small table, and a top of it, a crystallized piece of cheese, surrounded by a purple crystal substance from the underground's unique physique. "That's what they all say." He said, sarcastically, and chuckled slightly.
"But..." I said, wavering my eyes, a bit, and keeping them to the ground, "You should tell me anyways." I said, nervously laughing. "Just in case because it could spark my interest." I said, turning my nose up as if I were pretending to be a snob of some sort. "Maybe THEN I will believe you. Only Maybe." I said.
Sans chuckled slightly at that statement, and looked up at the ceiling walls, which were glimmering ever so slightly from the beautiful crystals that grew inside of the rocks. Almost like a gemstone of some sort that I couldn't remember the name of at that very moment. There are different forms of magic." He said, almost as if he were reflecting on a distant memory he cherished from a long time ago. "Magic is a lesser mystical power in the Underground. It's powered though a monster's soul aura, the more powerful their aura, the more magic they can cast." Sans said, sounding very intelligent on the topic. Maybe it was because I knew nothing about the topic. "If a monster attempts to cast magic without enough power in their aura, they will essentially turn to dust."
"So..." I trailed off, "No magic, then the monster dies?" I asked, and Sans nodded, explaining the types of magic that actually appeared throughout the underground, Fire magic, healing magic, blue magic, It was so unreal. "Why is that the cause of a monster's death?" I asked.
"We're made of magic." He said, chuckling. "We're made of LOVE and magic from the Renascence of our souls." He said, making my eyes widen slightly. That word- LOVE, was such a mystery as to why LOVE appeared on my small hand-held device on the surface, and now it was starting to make sense.
Chara wasn't made of LOVE. It was reading the monster dust--
If the monster dust was on Chara, showing readings of LOVE, then--
No..
"You okay, Girlie?" Sans asked as my smile quickly dropped to a frown and I slowed my pace down almost to the point where I had stopped. "You look chilled to the BONE." He chuckled, snapping me out of my nightmare. It's best not to assume. The evidence is there, but he will tell me eventually. I don't want to point to Chara.
"I'm fine." I said, laughing nervously, and picking up my pace again. I couldn't deny the fact that I thought I had began to sweat, which wasn't good considering my hydration levels. "I guess I couldn't handle all of that magic talk." I laughed slightly. "I told you I didn't believe in it! Maybe I'm allergic to magic." I said, jumping to conclusions, looking at Sans who had a very confused look on his face. "I better get treated now. Didn't you use some on me earlier?" I asked, walking up to him briskly.
I looked at him desperately, obviously kidding in the entire situation. "Well..." Sans said, rubbing the back of his skull. "Nothing you can do about it now." He said rather bluntly. "I guess you'll die then." He said, turning and walking away. I watched him walk away, unable to detect if there was any sarcasm in his voice at all. Was he being serious? Did he really want me to die after using HIS life source to heal my broken arm? Putting it that way, it made the situation even more weird. He stopped after realizing I was not following right behind him. "It was a joke." he said, huffing.
"Oh!" I exclaimed, "I knew that!" I giggled, catching up with him.
