Chapter 29
Ayo
We were all having Biology class, which was the last subject for the day. I wish I could just get out of there. It's not like the class was boring, I just wasn't in the mood.
A man stood in front of the door, examining the class for something or someone. He looked like he was in his early twenties. He had chocolate skin which looked so clear like a model's, his hair cut low and was dressed in a baggy yellow t-shirt which was tucked into black trousers and slides.
The man went up to the teacher after a few minutes of searching the classroom. He passed a message into our teacher's ears which got everyone's attention.
After passing the message, the two adults faced the class.
Mrs. Adejare cleared her throat and announced. "Omolara and Ayomide, you are asked to leave with this man."
I looked very puzzled, I stared at Lara who looked like she was expecting him. I looked at the stranger I was to go with.
With a little hesitation and glances from my classmates I followed him. Tolu stared at me, thinking I had told the police about Folu's illegal behaviour. I shook my head assuring her that I had not told the police.
Lara and I left the classroom and followed the man outside.
"Wait." I said, stopping the both on their tracks.
"Who are you and were are you going?" I asked both of them, cause I didn't want to follow some random, cute stranger.
"We are going to see Sola. In the hospital" The man answered my question. I froze on the spot, is he dead? I shook off the negative thought.
"And as for who I am,I'll tell you in the car." I nodded my head and got into the blue Toyota Corolla silently.

We arrived at the hospital and my heart broke into a thousand pieces knowing spent most of his teenage years visiting this place.
Apparently the man is Sola's cousin Dotun, he is the new guidance counselor's twin brother but they don't look alike.
We got to the front desk and Dotun did and said a couple of things. It was visiting day so we could see him.
We got into the elevator and I just sighed, I was nervous actually. I haven't seen Sola since Friday when he snapped at me and he being able to open up to me was amazing.
"Chill out girl." Lara held my hand, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"You knew?" I asked her, remembering how she looked normal during the drive here.
"Yeah, let's just say I'm very secretive when it comes to things like this." She started her habit of staring at her well manicured nails.
I just stared at her dumbfounded. I haven't told her about reading Sola's journal but I think she knew about that. Okay, I think I'm getting a bit jealous here.
"We have a lot of catching up to do." I stated to her.
"Yup, we do." She smiled at me. As secretive as she is, she sure loves a good talk. I laughed in my mind but smiled back at her.
The elevator made the 'ding' sound, indicating we had arrived at our destination.
I looked around the floor we were in. It was spotless, making me feel quite uncomfortable in the shoes I was in. We followed Dotun's footsteps until we got to a room labelled number 4. Sola's room.
I was about to open the door but stopped when I felt Lara and Dotun staring at me.
"Aren't we going in?" I asked both of them.
"He said he wanted to see you." Dotun said softly while I formed an 'oh' with my lips.
"Lara just tagged along so it doesn't seem so suspicious." Dotun smiled at me. "Don't be too scared, he isn't died." He stated.
That just got me more scared while Lara glared at him.
"Sorry, didn't mean it that way." He apologized immediately.
"Good luck." Lara hugged me when she saw my horrified look and when downstairs with Dotun.
I relaxed a bit and prayed silently before opening the door.

Sola
Lara had insisted I left Ayo see me in the hospital after giving her my journal.
Lara is very nice to talk to and is one of the few people trying to break me out of my shell. She had not been here though but I think Ola told her, seeing how close they are becoming.
I'm not going to keep lying to myself when I say I like Ayo a lot. She's just so cute, sometimes bold and nice to be around but she is quite shy about herself and I don't know why. It's not like she has a low self esteem, she just prefers locking herself up.
I stared at her as she opened the front door and scanned the room before landing her eyes on me. She closed the door and got in fully.
I was in a hospital gown with the sheets covering me, I didn't have my tubes and wires all over me cause of visiting day, just the IV drip on my right arm.
I smiled at her while she found the courage to walk up to me. I sat up and tapped in the empty space I created for her on the bed for her to sit.
She willing sat on the side of the bed but avoided eye contact with me.
"Hey." I greeted her softly while she kept on staring at the wall.
"Hi." Her voice sounding normal as ever.
"So, are you going to keep avoiding me now?" I smiled at how shy she was behaving right now.
I used my left hand to move her face to look at me. I was like a head and a half taller than her so she had to raise her head a bit to look at me, turning around to face me properly.
I smiled at her once more and her face fell. She held the arm I used to hold her face and whispered softly.
"I'm so so sorry Sola." Her eyes getting glassy with tears. I just kept listening to her, not minding the tears.
"I should have tried to listen to you and not shout at you. I just didn't know your intentions." She sighed a bit when she finished her apology. Thankfully no tears fell cause it would have broken my heart if she did.
I let go of my face and sat up properly.
"It's fine, you did what every normal person would do anyways." I don't know why I kept smiling at her. She didn't deserve my coldness anyways.
We stared silent for a couple of minutes until she brought up a question.
"Was it your mom's necklace I was about to touch the other day?" Ayo looked at me for an answer.
"Ohh, yeah it was. I didn't mean to snap at you that way." I answered her, remembering how she she looked dumbfounded that day.
"So, I'm getting jealous now." She stated all of a sudden, pretended to look hurt as she crossed her arms.
"Why?" I wondered but laughed at her goofiness.
"Lara knows more about this than I do." She huffed at me while I just laughed a bit.
"Well." I kept on laughing. "I'm sorry about that too." I went close to her.
"Am I forgiven?" I asked, cupping her face with my free hand.
She blushed a bit and smiled. "Yes you are forgiven."
"Great, so tell me what I don't know. What's up?" I asked her, after letting go of her face. It was so easy to read her face when it comes to issues like this.
"Trust me there are a lot of things you don't know." She said and got ready to tell me what has been happening.
*****
"Wow." That was what I kept on saying after I listened to Ayo's story about her brother and how he got involved into drugs. Technically.
"So what do you plan doing now?" I asked her.
"I don't know." She sighed. "I can't tell my mom, her heart will be broken." I nodded my head in understanding.
There was a knock on the door and Lara peeped her head in.
"Sorry to disturb your love moment here but it is almost time for us to leave." She glanced at both of us and raised both her eyebrows. I rolled my eyes at her, so did Ayo.
"We will be done soon, I just need to kiss her real quick." I playfully winked at Lara who gasped.
"Ohh, take your time then." She squealed happily and left us alone.
"You won't really do that right?" Ayo looked at me, her eyes growing huge.
"Maybe." I brought my face close to hers while she swallowed hard. I stopped and laughed at her reaction.
"Besides, I don't think kissing you in a hospital will be considered romantic." I grinned while she blushed at my statement.
"I'll see you later, okay?" I assured her while nodded. I brought her into a hug and sighed, maybe saying that was a bad idea.
I looked at her one last time before she got up and left. She glanced at me one more time and went to the door where she smiled at me and walked away.
