Chapter 14

Ayo
The rest of my week was just about me, using up my mobile data doing a lot of research. It was like I was starting to recreate a new life and it was fun, well to me of course. I started this self help book and I also have a planner now. I could list a thousand things.

I woke up one Wednesday morning and stared at my own reflection. I deserve to be happy. I thought to myself.

I walked into the car and smiled, Ire looked at me as if I was insane but I didn't care less, for some reason he has been ignoring me and I am grateful for that but if he ever tries disturbing me, I'm going to start locking my door. Sola and I talk a lot lately and I mostly sit around him while Tolu shot dagger looks at me.

"Here comes Ayo with her smile again." Sola smiled at me while I sat down. I had just finished French class which he wasn't offering.

"So, are you generally?" He asked. He has this habit of tilting his head to the side lightly and it's cute, like a puppy. I giggled.

"I'll take that as good?" He nodded his head while I just kept laughing. I laugh at the silliest things.

"Wetin do this one o?" He started to laugh too.

"Why do you do that?" I asked as I stopped myself from laughing.

"Do what?" He looked like I was speaking gibberish.

"Tilt your head like a puppy." I always love puppies.

"Ohh, just a habit I guess. Besides I do that for short little girls." He mocked me.

"Really?" I glared at him.

"Yeah, for my sisters." He said casually and I looked at him weirdly.

"You didn't let me finish." He smirked at me.

"Liar." I stressed it while I huffed.

"If you think so." He shrugged. "I also wanted to say that I do that when I'm concerned."

I didn't know if my heart is to melt or hit him so I choose option two which helped my heart to 'man up'.

"Awww." He whined while I stuck my tongue out at him.

"I'm not that short." I huffed.

"Yeah right." He rolled his eyes.

"But you sha like me the way I am." I smiled to myself.

"Of course I do." And he pinched my cheeks.

"Hey, stop that." I smacked his hand, maybe to firmly.

"Yes ma'am." He said, giving me a mock salute.

"But wait, why did I do that?" I felt tensed about my but he sensed or felt it too.

"You don't need to. You're my friend." He smiled at me. It was weird for me, like I said Boys and I equals to a system error or something.

"Yeah well I still don't know why you like keeping to yourself. Don't tell me you have joined that stupid boy code." I rolled my eyes and he just laughed shortly.

"No I have not and two, I'll tell you when I think is right, okay?" He looked at me seriously like my mom.

"Do you wear glasses." I asked.

"What?" He looked surprised. I just wanted to change the subject cause I didn't like the look he gave me earlier.

I got into a bathroom stall and started my business. I was about to leave when I heard Lara and Tolu talking.

"But wait o babe. Wetin Ayo do you sef that you Sabi beef her like this." Lara said. Her Yoruba is not fluent but her pidgin is sweet..I laughed in my mind.

"Because she thinks she's one perfect bitch that can go up and down and get everything she wants." Tolu said.

Did she really think that? Well, she's most mistaken.

"So? Are you going to allow her do that to you. Let her control your mind."

"Is she?"

"Of course she is, you are making her this thing in your head and that's because you have a very low self..." She couldn't continue as Tolu slapped her

"Don't you ever talk about my self esteem or whatever. You can easily say that because you are like her."

Lara laughed. "Yeah I'll rather be friends with someone who at least respects herself and has nothing to loose." I imagined her eyeing her as she left.

I was spektical about going out now because I didn't want to look like I was easedropping which is technically what I was doing, so I decided to wait which was like forever because I guess she was washing her face. Finally she left but all what they said kept dancing in my head. What is Tolu up to?

After lectures one after the other and the talk about Open day made my stomach ache because of my Further
Maths script. At least it was betterr than the four I got last year?
"You're parents are the ones to collect it, aside that I'm not going to give it to anyone." Our assistant class teacher, Miss. Sijuwade announced. As much as she was pretty and had a nice accent, she was a pain to the ass then it comes to empathy.

I just groaned louder, knowing that my plan to hide my script was not going to happen because my mom likes pulling out my papers one by one before looking at my "A's" or "B's".

"Ayo." Someone called me. It was Ooreofe, the class captain of Ire's class and among the smartest girls in school and in the Litracy and Debate club and Science geeks club.

"Hi." I replied. I still can't believe she was talking to me.

"Hmm, what happened to Ire?" She asked.

"Nothing, why are you asking?" I was puzzled. What has this boy gotten into again bi?

"Just asking because he wasn't in class today." The person that we both came to school together?

"I'm sorry but when? What time?"

"During all the periods, I thought he was sick or something but I remember seeing him during assembly." She looked puzzled. "I hope it's nothing though?"

"No, thanks anyways." I shook off the number of possible things that Ire could be doing or has done.

I heard my mom's horn and I jumped up to go and met her, without my brother but surprisingly I saw him coming up to the car too and looked natural while I stared at him like he was some kind of ghost.

"Good evening mum." He greeted and threw me a glare, I just kept quiet while my mom replied to Ire.

"Are you okay Ayomide?" My mom stared at me through the rear view mirror.

"No, I'm fine. Good evening mum." I responded as she started the car engine
