#8

I'm back in the red space again. Or at least it feels familiar. Everything is distorted here, like something doesn't want me to remember. Remember what? It's easier this time to know my own name. I know what I was doing before this...... don't I? Chains. I'm looking for someone with chains. I almost immediately spot them in the distance. Are we really doing this again?

Before I can even take step forwards, I'm thrown into a new area. This is going to get annoying very fast. What surprises me most is how clear everything is. All the scenes were blurry last time. Now, I can see the leaves on the tree outside the window. I'm standing inside a house, the room large and lined with shelves. Counter tops are covered in various strange items. I think I even see a rabbit's foot in the corner. The people are clear, too. Almost. The taller man is blurred, but the shorter one isn't at all. He wears a purple cloak and is that a bat on his shoulder? Could he be a sorcerer? I don't feel any guilt in ease dropping.

"Oh come on, you need a hobby. Forever is a lot longer then you think", the sorcerer is saying to the other. "And..... what is that?", the taller one grunts. His voice is as garbled as the rest of him, and I can barely make out the words. "It's called a ukulele. You make music on it", he insists, handing the instrument over. "But why this? It looks ridiculous", blurry snorts. That causes the sorcerer to roll their eyes, "Just trust me. You're gonna need to play that in the future". He leaves the room, leaving me with the blurry guy. He looks down at the ukulele, plucking out a few strangled notes. I feel kinda bad with how torturous those things are.

And then I'm dropped back into the first area. Fantastic, isn't it? I'm a little hesitant this time to just blindly run forward. I don't appreciate being a piece in some sort of game. The distant black lump still  taunts me from afar. Didn't I get to it before now? I swear I did. Without giving anything a warning, I bolt forwards. It doesn't make a difference when I'm suddenly crashing through trees.

I almost slam into a tree with my clumsiness. Where am I this time? It takes me a minute to find anybody. It seems that I'm always watching some event in these types of things. The same blurry figure stands across a clearing from me, facing two others. The first is a girl with black hair and a white jacket on. What catches my eye is the drying blood on her front. Although it doesn't look like it's hers. The other is a guy, and a hybrid at that. He wears mostly black with matching wings. They're all covered in scales instead of feathers. Where did I get feathers from?

"And he's..... gone? Just like that?", the blurry one is saying to the others. The girl looks crushed and the hybrid is trying not to let it show. Someone died. "He saved my brother", the girl mumbles while looking down, "He completed his last task. It's about time he got his happy ending". "But what if we never see him again? That idiot should have kept himself alive", he snarls back. That makes the hybrid angry. "The Sorcerer knew what he was doing. Don't be a cry baby's just because you couldn't help!", he snarls.

The girl shushes the both. I literally have no idea what's going on. "There's one more thing you have to do before we leave", she says. "Leave? Where are you going?", blurry asks. It's still hard to see him or hear his voice. "666, you're not a Guardian. We can't see you again after this", she deadpans, "But you have somewhere to be. Go to Liblicen". The words seem to shock him. So that's what the trees look unfamiliar! Wherever this is, it's not my home. What is a Guardian? I can tell that these three people mean a lot to each other, but who are they? Why can I see this? They called my home Liblicen instead of its current name.

The trees quickly morph back into a red fogginess. I look around for the black spot, but I jump back a few feet when I see them. They're less then three feet away! They're arms are still chained like last time, the ends disappearing in the haze. But they're not completely colorless. The man's head is hanging down with his dark brown hair all messy. He wears a black jacket with a white undershirt, a strange orange and yellow tie around his neck. That's where it gets even weirder. I'm used to hybrids, but he's on a whole other level! Twisted horns sprout from his head and a spiked tail is tucked close to his body. Two large, black wings twitch from on his back. They're covered in slick feathers. Last time, he was on his knees and hanging limply by the chains. This time, he's wildly thrashing and pulling against them. He hisses and snarls in agitation. I can see blood running down his wrists.

"Hey! What are you doing!? You're just hurting yourself like that", I scold him, lunging forward and grabbing onto his arms. I can't help it. It hurts me see to see someone chained and hurt like this. I became a Warrior for my people because I wanted to help. The stranger jerks away at my touch and voice. He snaps his head up to look at me. His eyes are a shade of blood red. I would've said something then, but I was frozen for a few seconds. It's like a mountain of rage, fear, hopelessness, and loneliness all crash into me at once. He looks just as shocked to see me. It's enough to make me pull my hands away from him.

"W-Who are you?", he grunts, his voice scratchy and broken like a Zemrlt's. There's a hint of defiance that would of been impressive if I hadn't felt what I think he's feeling. "Umm, my name is Kelini", I awkwardly respond. The stranger still faces me, but I can see his eyes go in and out of focus. It's like he's struggling to listen or see me. "What?", they mumble. He thinks that he didn't actually see me. The chains are the only things keeping him up. "Hey, I'm here! Can you tell me your name?", I say more gently, snapping my fingers in his face. He flinches at the sound, but still can't seem to focus on me. How am I suppose to help if he can't hear me?

Hesitantly, I step forwards again and gently grab onto his wrist maybe I can figure out how to get the shackle off. Blood coats my hand. He jerks a little, red eyes finally meeting my gray ones. "B-Bod-il. My name is B-Bodil. You hear me?", he suddenly stumble, voice wavering. It's my touch. The stranger, Bodil, can better focus when I'm touching him. "Yes, I'm here", I assure him. Bodil looks at me with both denial and a little hope. "The S-Sorcerer...... the p-puppet King....", he mumbles. Bodil seems to be talking to himself, trying to remixer something. Are his memories scattered like mine are in this place?

"Do you know how I can help you?", I ask slowly. His attention jumps back to me. "Kelini", he says. Bodil then struggles against the chains some more, trying to stand up. He must be really weak with how he can't even stand. I grab onto his other arm and help pull him up. Bodil's chains finally sag without the weight on them. Before I can talk more, the prisoner starts talking again.

"I hear your voice. I h-hear you all the time. It's in the vault", Bodil seems to be putting all his strength tinpot the words, "P-please destroy my c-contract. D-don't m-make me s-stay here". His legs give out, and I try and catch him. But I'm unable to. I go right through him, and soon, I'm not there anymore.
