Nostalgia
" I love you so much, Babe..." Lance murmured on Keith's neck as he nuzzled against him. He took in his omega's robust scent and sighed in satisfaction.
" I love you too..." Keith rolled a little bit on his bed, which was as bouncy as ever. He shivered from the other boy's breath on his neck.
" Are you cold?" Lance perked up, immediately going to slip off his jacket.
" N-no... Lance, I'm fine."
" No. Have it." He insisted while sticking one of Keith's arms through one of the baggy green sleeves. And the smaller male didn't know how to tell him no as he put it the rest of the way on. It smelled just like Lance. Felt just like him.
Keith blushed while flipping up the hood and snuggling into Lance.
" Thanks..." He said. As much as he wanted to shift his position more, that stupid ankle brace was bulky, and made him lazy to move his right foot. A quiet sigh left Keith's lips.
Lance glanced down at his boyfriend's foot, already able to tell that it was frustrating to him.
" Only one more day... then you can take it off." The taller boy reassured him.
" Yeah... on my birthday." Keith said. He really didn't see what 24 more hours were going to do for his foot. Sure, it was still sore and everything, but at that point, he was done caring. Now that he could walk without using crutches, everything was easier than before, but the brace was itchy and uncomfortable.
" At least you can be less annoyed about it on your birthday, Babe... you're lucky." Lance kissed his cheek fondly. " I'm planning something for you and me." He pressed a another soft kiss on the boy's jawline.
" Oh no." Keith knew that Lance could be over the top at times, and he was honestly nervous for whatever he had up his sleeve.
" Come on... I just want to take you out for dinner... there's this really nice place a couple towns over." The alpha ran his thumb over Keith's face.
" You don't have to... really." The other male insisted. He hated when Lance felt the need to go out and spend a bunch of cash on him. Especially considering he quit his job once football season began.
" I want to." Lance told him. And it was true, he really did want to do that. But there was also another reason. He had to get Keith out of the house for a few hours. Allura's orders. Of course her and Shiro had been conspiring to throw Keith a surprise party, because why not? He had never had a lot of people over for his birthday before, so they wanted to make it special for him. " I think we deserve a nice night out. You of all people do."
" How fancy is this place? I'm not wearing a tie." Keith folded his arms. He would honestly have more fun if they stayed home, ordered Chinese food, and watched Tokyo Ghoul all night. But Lance seemed to be dead-set on getting him out.
" Just wear a nice shirt or something. I don't think they'd kick you out if you showed up in a button up and khakis." Lance said.
" Okay..." The omega said nervously. He never went out to formal dinners. Only once or twice in his life had he ever been forced to dress up and sit in a dimly lit room to eat overrated food. " But how would we get there? You said it's not in town." Keith raised an eyebrow curiously.
" Oh yeah... Shiro has an early present for you..." Lance chuckled. " He told me to send you down to the garage after this. I guess he knew you wouldn't want to be dropped off at a nice place in his minivan."
Keith gulped.
" Right now?"
" Yep." The football player had a cheeky smile. He hadn't even seen it, but Shiro had talked it up quite a bit.
" I hope he didn't break the bank with whatever he did." Keith grimaced while slowly untangling from Lance and standing up.
" Shush. Allow yourself to be spoiled for once." Lance rolled his eyes.
" Fine."
Shiro was waiting by the door to the garage by the time the boys made their way down there. He had a large smile sprawled across half of his face, and his eyes were damp. It was obvious there were tiny tears of joy in his eyes.
" Keith..." He said, and his little brother looked anxious about what was hiding in the garage. " you're finally old enough where I trust you enough with this... I've been saving it for a long time." Shiro scratched the back of his neck.
The omega was more than a little oblivious to what Shiro meant. He figured it was some sort of car.
" What did you do?" He asked, praying that it wasn't too expensive.
Shiro didn't say anything as he opened the door to the garage. There was a cool breeze that blew in, and it made the house seem a million degrees warmer.
Lance stayed in the doorway with Shiro, wanting to let his boyfriend enjoy the moment. And Keith assumed he was supposed to go in by himself.
There was a large sheet that had been draped over something in the far corner of the room. The edges weren't exposed very well, so he had to get closer to even have a clue what it was. He pulled the sheet off and let it lazily fall to the cement floor. Keith's breath hitched.
" Is-... is this...?" He was tongue tied for a second or two. Keith looked back at his brother. " Is this dad's?"
" Yes." Shiro slowly started walking in.
" How- umm... I thought we had to sell it?" Keith stared for what seemed like ages.
" That's what I told you... but it's been in storage... and I had it restored for you." He had unusually long pauses between his speech, mainly because he wasn't sure if Keith liked it.
There was a major sense of nostalgia that had just hit Keith like a bus. Dad's motorcycle. Dad's cherry red, shiny, faster than anything else motorcycle. He could still remember sitting in the very front, and being way too short to reach the controls. How the wind would blow through his clothes as they rode into the middle of nowhere and pushed the speed limit. That bike was about the only positive memory he had of his father. Dad's old fingerless leather gloves he'd wear even though they were way too big at the time, and the matching red helmet that was also too large for him. That same helmet, coupled with those same gloves sat on the seat.
Keith didn't know what to say. Shiro had went through all that trouble just for him. So he did the only thing he could think of. He gave his brother the most overjoyed hug ever.
" Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Keith repeated, and Shiro just chuckled.
Lance leaned on the doorframe by the entrance to the rest of the house. It was such a sweet moment to watch that he didn't dare interrupt it.
" Why don't you take it for a spin, hm?" Shiro asked him.
" Really?!" The smaller boy exclaimed. He was astonished that he was allowed to do that.
" You have your license last time I checked." The older brother smiled. And Keith looked at the bike, Shiro, the bike, and then back at Shiro.
" Lance, come with me." Keith said to his alpha, who was silently standing in the same spot.
He looked surprised that he'd offered.
" There is a spare helmet under the seat." Shiro stared over his shoulder at the other boy.
" Come on." Keith motioned to the motorcycle while excitedly slipping on the gloves. He got déjà vu just feeling the insides of them on his hands. It had been so many years.
" Are you sure you even can with your ankle?" Lance questioned. He was being a major chicken about this.
" I can walk. It's good enough." The omega insisted, but he also looked his brother as if asking for permission.
" Just don't push it, okay? Take it easy and you can go around the block." Shiro normally would've told Keith to wait, but if he could walk and do other stuff with his brace, he'd be fine for a tiny ride. Plus, he'd just showed him it. What else was he supposed to say?
" You're a good driver? Please tell me you are?" Lance started coming into the garage by the bike.
" Why wouldn't I be?" Keith looked at him, inspecting why Lance would be wondering that.
" I've seen you play Mario Kart before, Keith." The quarterback grimaced.
" That's different." Shiro said. And Keith smirked a little bit.
" Is it different? Wow, I never would've guessed." He teased while picking up the helmet and lifting up the seat. The omega handed Lance the spare helmet, sort of shoving it to his chest.
" You seem scared." Shiro noticed Lance's somewhat apprehensive body language.
" Me?" The Cuban male raised an eyebrow. " Pshh! Nah." He lied through his teeth.
" Lies." Keith laughed a little before putting on his dad's- now his- helmet. He started walking the bike out of the garage as Shiro activated the garage door opener.
" I'm not scared!" Lance exclaimed while trailing in his boyfriend's path.
" Right." Keith said sarcastically. " Try not to scream too much okay?" He hopped on and Lance slowly climbed on behind him.
" Shut up!" The alpha growled. Lance could only hold onto what tomorrow would bring. He knew he would be the one making Keith scream then, so it made this just a little less humiliating.
Shiro followed them out to the center of the driveway, and he hoped that Keith wasn't rusty with his skills. It had been a while since he'd gotten his license, but Shiro knew that his brother was a natural at these types of things.
Keith revved it a couple times before pulling out a with a jerking motion. And Lance grumbled something before holding onto Keith to prevent flying off. And he made a sharp turn into the road while zipping away.
" You better not kill us!" Lance yelled loudly. Keith only laughed to himself. He was happy that his ankle wasn't bothering him as much as he'd expected.
" What?" The omega asked, speeding up.
" Keith!" Lance's eyes were wide from how fast they were going already.
And Shiro, who was waiting in the driveway, facepalmed. He'd almost forgotten his brother's tendency to speed.
The smaller male was honestly a little spooked; he'd be damned if he showed it though. He needed some time to get used to the controls, but it didn't stop him from racing down the street. The bike made a 'nyoom' sound with every mile per hour they pushed past.
He started laughing more seeing how Lance was flipping out. It was always fun to get his alpha flustered, mainly because omegas weren't usually able to do that. But then again, this was Lance.
" It's not funny!" The larger of the two let out a whine.
" It's a little funny!" Keith called back.
The wind that was blowing past them felt at least 20 degrees colder than normally, but Keith couldn't have loved it more. Lance's jacket was rippling and billowing back, and his arms were starting to tingle from the sensation. It was nostalgia in its purest form for Keith.
It was ten minutes or so when they arrived back in the driveway.
Shiro thought for a split second that Keith would crash on his way into the garage, but he was paranoid. Keith was in control... for the most part at least.
As soon as they stopped, Lance wobbled off the motorcycle dizzily. His adrenaline levels were spiked through the roof, and his heartbeat was everywhere. He panted a few times, taking off the helmet.
" Not bad. Just please obey the speed laws next time? I have a feeling if you get pulled over a cop won't be very lenient with you." Shiro approached once the bike was parked. And Keith chuckled while taking off his helmet. His hair was a ruffled mess.
" And why is that?" The omega asked. He was feeling genuinely great for the first time in days.
" Because you're salty." Lance cut in before Shiro could answer.
Keith opened his mouth to say something, deny it, but he backed off. It was sort of true.
" Well... anyways... I have to run to the grocery store and run some other errands." Shiro shook his head at the banter. " Behave yourselves."
" When do we not do that?" Keith asked.
" Do you really want me to answer that?" Shiro raised an eyebrow.
" No." Lance smiled nervously though he had no clue what the other alpha meant.
" Okay then. See you guys in an hour or two." The older brother said while going to get in his van. He was going in reverse soon enough, and eventually made his way out of the garage and then the driveway.
" So... what do you want to do?" Lance asked his omega.
Keith was gay in more than one way right then. His joy was somehow putting him in the mood.
" We are home alone..." He went to close the garage door and walk into the house. And Lance had a small smirk while following him.
" Are you saying what I think you are?" The alpha kicked the door shut behind him.
" Maybe~" Keith turned around and pressed a kiss to Lance's lips. He was baiting him with how short it lasted for.
" You know I can't get you sore before tomorrow, right? You'll never be able to handle what I have planned if you are." Lance purred while picking his boyfriend up.
" And just what do you have planned, Loverboy?" Keith narrowed his eyes while letting his arms drape over Lance's shoulders. Sometimes he found being lifted from the ground enjoyable.
" I can't tell you." The taller male walked forward while letting Keith cling to him. " It's a surprise."
" Can I have a hint?" The omega pleaded, flashing puppy dog eyes.
" I already gave you one. It's a fantasy you told Allura." Lance kept a firm hold on Keith while taking him to the living room and setting him on the couch.
" I don't think you realize how many I've told her." He looked at Lance questionably.
" I know a few..." Lance sat down next to Keith, and wasn't very surprised when the smaller boy crawled on top of him.
" Like?"
" It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you." The alpha caressed Keith's face in a teasing way. And the other boy could only scrunch up his nose. All this build up was making him beyond anxious.
Keith was about to say something about how Lance was being unfair, but then he noticed something. He saw that there were a few splatters of purple, and a peachy colored something on Lance's jeans. It looked to be paint.
" What's on your pants?" He asked Lance curiously. And the football player was stiff for a moment too long before answering.
" I just got a little messy in art class today. No biggie." Lance blew it off. But he hoped more than anything that Keith would stop asking questions.
