I stared up into the eyes of the boy before me. Tears were still streaming down my face from the a if attack but at least I could breathe.

"Blain Donovona, right?" I whispered and he smiled kindly at me.

"Meraina right?" He asked back nodding.

"Yeah..." I said moving away from him. 

We stood there silently for a it before he sighed. He touched my shoulder making me look up in surprise. 

"What happened?" He asked and I gripped my hand into fists.

"N-nothing happened." I said looking away.

"Now that's bull. If nothing happened you wouldn't be walking do the street crying now would you? Now tell-" He said irritated.

"I don't have to tell you anything Blain." I snapped stepping away from him.

His eyes hardened but didn't reply. He turned his face away his hands in tight fists.

"You're right. I have no reason to get into your business I'm sorry... Good bye Meraina." He said turning away.

I didn't say anything as he walked away down the street. I wiped my eyes determined to be myself... The best I could.

The next couple of days I didn't do anything. I stayed locked in my room allowing the grief to flow through me. I had set the funeral for two days from now and I refused to cry at it. I didn't want to disappoint my mother anymore then I had. 

That night I had decided to go for a walk... It was the worst idea of my life.

It was him. It was the man in black...

I had just gotten down to fifth street when I realized I was being followed. I walked faster hoping I was just over reacting but no. The footsteps got louder as they persude me. I thought maybe I should confront them. I turned and froze seeing the man in the black trench coat. I saw the glint of the knife as the street lamp beamed down upon him. This time however I heard the words he said.

"Let's make a deal." The man growled.
