"Change of plans"
A/N: hey um, i don't know if I'll be able to update a little faster. I'm babysitting all week and idk if I'll stay on task because these kids are tough. So if I take to long to update, I'm so sorry. I hope I can be focus before they come and all. I love babysitting but it's tough XD anyway, please enjoy.
"Dad, I outta take you out sometimes." He said on himself panting at every word.
The afternoon was still as the sun was setting. Casey ran as fast as he could to make it to the sewers. Getting his cigarettes for his dad isn't a problem unless he was late to hang out with his pals. Unfortunately where his dad works is very, very far. He had promised Raph he would make it on time. Hopefully the turtle won't be too upset of his best friend's excuse once again.
He made it to the underground of smelly water before anyone could see him, and ran following his GPS to find the lair. When he did, he found Mikey in front of the TV watching his favorite show. He always had that goofy smile upon him whenever he watched it. He chuckled as he entered inside. "Hey Mikey." He said catching the orange mask turtle's attention. "Have you seen Raph?"
"Still in his room." Answered the younger turtle not taking his eyes off the TV.
Casey then enter the room of Raphael, only to find it a bit messy, as always, found him in bed still, along with his two brothers looking and checking him. This was certainly odd. "Hey, what gives?" He asked.
The two standing turtles looked back at the human surprised. "Oh, we didn't see you come in Casey." Leo said. "Seemed Raph isn't feeling too good."
"What's been going on?"
"Apparently he's been throwing up non-stop all day," Donnie said checking his brother's heart rate. "has a temperature that's up to a very high level, and he's looking more greener than usual."
Raph tried to speak to his friend, but cough in a nasty scurry sound. Immediately he leaned up, grabbed the trash can that was next to his bed, and spit in it to let out some strange white boogers. Casey made a face of disgust when he watched his friend spit out boogers from his mouth.
"Oh, and he's been doing that." Donnie added.
Raph let out a sigh after he put the trash can down, and said, "Sorry Casey. Guess there won't be any rooftop running today, or later..."
Casey couldn't help but feel glad of that. His friend didn't noticed he's been late for their rooftop run, which was perhaps good. Only bad thing was his friend was very, very sick. So now what can he do?
But he did know, he was going to make it easy of my complaining. "It's okay Raph." He said trying to let a small smile appear. "You gotta rest bro."
"Ugh, I hate resting." He said laying his head onto his pillow.
"Hopefully he'll get better soon." Leo said looking to the human.
"We better leave him be." Donnie said. "I can come back and give him his medicine later."
Raph groaned and asked, "It's not gonna be that liquid stuff, is it?"
"I'm afraid so."
"No!"
Casey chuckled at the child act Raph was giving, not wanting something liquid. It would be funny seeing him act like this instead of Mikey.
So then the turtles and Casey left the room closing the door, and went back into what they were doing. Donnie went back to the lab, as for Leo sat with Mikey to watch their show. Casey only stood there feeling odd. Now what can he do?
His best friend is sick, and he had nothing better to do until super late when his father gets back home. Leo and Mikey wouldn't do much for their show was all they had at the moment, minus the training.
He did not want to do this, but he decided to check on Donnie.
As he entered into the lab, he found Donatello at his desk again trying to create retro-mutagen. This is all what Casey and the guys have seen Donnie do lately. Nothing but work, work, and mutagen. It kinda made Casey feel a bit bad that Donnie has nothing better to do to relax.
Surprisingly, Donnie didn't look up, but said, "May I help you, Jones?"
How did he know he was standing there? He was like another Leo whenever he would act like that.
"Eh, nothing really." Casey answered as he kept walking towards the turtle. "Just seeing what you're doing."
"Just what I always do." He said not taking his eyes towards Jones.
Casey couldn't help but feel the need of wanting the turtle to look at him. He doesn't know if he still despise of the human or anything. It made him really want that attention. Just like how he wanted April to do the same whenever she would care about their homework or studies.
Which was odd to him, when he realized it... When e wanted Donnie's attention..... Instead of April's....
But then he shook it off, catching his attention onto the giant glass canister that held the mutagen man still to be frozen. Though there was something Casey had noticed. "Hey, is it just me," he said. "or does your little guy seem to be thawing out?"
Donnie finally got the chance to look at Jones, and then placed his eyes onto Timothy who was still a mutant and frozen. He couldn't believe it. He walked towards the glass and poke it lightly, feeling a small warming instead of ice cold. "By Darwin's beard." He said amazed as he kept looking at the frozen mutant. "He must be thawing out, finally getting out of the frozen state."
"Is that good, or bad?" Casey asked. "Because I vote for bad."
"Maybe so. He wasn't always like this." Said Donnie. "He was just a regular teenager with a fascination of mutants and wanted to become a hero but then his DNA cells made him become a blob of organs causing them to-"
"Don't need a dictionary dork." Casey grinned walking away from the frozen mutant.
Donnie only let out a growl, and walked back into his desk. "Well seems you're not much into an insulting mood if you just used a small word of vocabulary." He said looking back into his creation of retro-mutagen.
"You caught me." He laughed sitting into a chair that was in front of the desk. He decided to watch Donnie, though of course that was a bit boring when it comes to chemicals. The thought of April came to mind of him, of how she would have loved to see these two calm down. He couldn't bear to have that stare come up again. He and he turtles have texted her many times, but it felt so weird for her to be far away. What was weirding, was Casey barley thinking about her.
As the boredom had reach inside the human boy, he stood up and said, "Hey Donnie, you wanna do a rooftop run together?"
"Pardon?" The turtle asked looking back up to his so-called rival.
"Well, me and Raph normally would do just some runs on the roofs, trying to catch any crimes to take down. Since he's sick, and Leo and Mikey probably aren't into that right now, maybe you can come. Plus, you look like you could use some relaxation dude."
Donnie wasn't too sure if this was a prank or what. From the way Casey sounded, it sounded to be just like that. "I don't know." He spoke. "Normally Leo is the one up for a rooftop run, and well, I get the feeling you just want an excuse to leave my lab without hurting my feelings. Honestly, I don't see how I could get hurt."
He chuckled at the last part along with Casey. Then Casey sat back down and said, "Look dude, I don't really want to fight anymore. This can't go on forever you know. And sometimes you do surprise, so throughout this run, you probably could. And I don't wanna disappoint Red when she gets back, and I'm sure you don't want to either. Let's just give this a chance."
The turtle looked down into his lap, not too sure if he should accept Casey's invitation or remain in his lab doing the same over and over again. He still wondered what Splinter had meant a few weeks ago.
When he looked back up, Casey made this face of a child pouting his lips and made very big eyes. "Please?" The human said hoping for a yes.
Now he wasn't too sure if he should walk away before this got weird, or laugh by how adorable Casey looked.
Adorable...
He sighed, obviously losing to say no. "Alright. I could get a break every so often."
"Awesome! Let's move!" Without giving the turtle a chance to respond, he left the lab running out.
Donnie laughed at how excited the human got to finally be accepting his invitation. This also reminded him of a dream he had a week ago. It was Casey asking to join him outside of the sewers, them on the rooftop, and before they knew it, the dream showed him leaning into Casey and pressed his lips against him.
Why do these dreams keep showing up? What purpose do they hold fully and why do they make him feel.... Strange.
Before he could let the human complain he was taking forever, he ran out of the lair to follow him. Mikey watched them leave, and once they were out of sight, he ran out of the living room to find Raph's room. Then he opened the door to find his brother in red, sniffing, and texting off his phone.
He smiled, and said, "The plan is working bro!"
"Still think you're gonna lose." Raph said as he took in a deep breath to sniff more.
Then the young turtle's from grew more as he watched his brother. "Still texting her?"
Immediately, Raph's face grew hot and radiate to red upon his cheeks. He growled, and then grabbed a pillow. "Mikey, get out of here!" He yelled throwing the pillow onto his younger brother.
Mikey laughed throwing the turtle back and ran out of the room still laughing at his brother's embarrassment. Once he was far from him and Leo, he said to himself, "I am so the love expert."
To be continued...
