[TF2] pyro moment

"For all intents and purposes, this never happened," the Spy announced as he brushed his suit off and stood up from his chair.

Pyro, on the other hand, didn't seem inclined to move from his spot by the fireplace. She simply stared up at him; he was once again unsettled by the black, expressionless eyes of their mask. They mumbled something disparaging. After a moment, Spy surmised that he was saying, "But that's not true."

He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. What an inconvenient situation. "Perhaps, but nobody aside from us needs to know that."

The firebug tilted her head like a confused puppy, silently asking him to elaborate further.

"Our friends would be upset if they learned of this," Spy explained with an impressive amount of patience. "And so they will not. D'accord?"

Pyro paused. He could practically see their colorful interpretation of the world warring against what he was telling them. "But... Telling the truth is good."

Not for the first time, Spy wondered why he had agreed to this. "Not always, mon ami pyromane." He glanced at the door, hoping no one came looking for him. Or Pyro, for that matter.

Something seemed to click into place in Pyro's head at this. "Oh! It's a spy thing," he mumbled. "Okay, okay." She stood up, clasping their hands together with a bewildering amount of enthusiasm.

Spy nodded, burying his confusion. "...Yes, I suppose it is," he agreed.

With that, Pyro seemed satisfied. He skipped out of the smoking room with all her usual zeal, leaving the Spy to ponder things in solitude.

What a strange person.

A/N: No, I don't know what Spy and Pyro were doing before this scene. Probably gossiping, but about what, I'm not sure.

I just reread What's a Little Hug Between Enemies again, so I hope I wrote Spy as well as they did. Insufferable bastard (derogatory) (affectionate)
